People say they “hold” Bitcoin… but the truth is, they only own it emotionally until the next price dump scares them out

They buy during excitement, feel like long term investors for two weeks, start talking about financial freedom… then the market turns red and suddenly conviction and the " investor" in them disappears. Panic takes over.

That’s not ownership… that’s emotional renting.

Real ownership means understanding what you hold and why you hold it. It means preparing for volatility before it comes, not crying after it happens, It means DCA with patience… not buying with fear and selling with regret.

Many people think the hardest part of Bitcoin is price analysis, but honestly, the hardest part is controlling yourself.

Bitcoin tests discipline more than intelligence.
Most times, the market is less about strategy and more about emotional stability.

It's normal for everyone to stay strong during a bull market. We see the real strong bitcoiners when the market turns red. Some might still be willing to hold but if the market goes lower regrets starts to kick in, they get scared and make decisions they will live not to forget. Being a hodler requires true discipline. Your emtions to be put aside while you focus on one thing, which is accumulation. While everyone panics, you sit quietly and continue to accumulate your coins because you have your targets and understand the kind of risk you are taking.. investing is easy, just get your money and know how to store. Making profits is where you are tested to see how long enough you can pass the wheel of time..

LOL, I don't know if we have to call or invent that kind of term in Bitcoin.

It's simply selling at panic, nothing more nothing less. And for me it's a normal thing for investors specially if you are new in the Bitcoin investment. Of course there will be emotions involved here.

And the best teacher is experienced, if you sell because of FUD or panic, then it's your lost, simply as that. But it could be one of the most valuable lessons that you can get out of it. You understand your mistakes and then you go back to square one. But this time, you don't involved your emotions, because you have learn from that expensive lessons earlier.

The problem is that not everyone understands Bitcoin in the same way. Some see it only as an investment, others as speculation, while only a smaller number of people truly understand what is actually happening .

This is a normal part of the monetization process. Every form of money goes through a period in which people slowly begin to understand its value. In the beginning, only a small group of people recognizes why it matters and why this good has value. Others see only volatility, speculation, or short-term price movements. But as time passes, more people start to understand the deeper idea behind it. The same process happened with gold, and today we are seeing a similar process with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is not becoming money overnight, it is being monetized gradually, through adoption, education, and trust built over time.

Your idea is true for many, especially those who are new and unaware of the true power of BTCitcoin.

Basically, when they do this, they don't understand that they are falling into a trap of the market and traders, where thousands of big traders and groups are sitting and try to manupulate the market, spreading fear and spreading fake news to snatch your Bitcoin.

And this control has a limit and time. They can't increase the price of the Bitcoin market at will and inflate the market like other markets, so when its price drops by 5% to 10%, they start spreading FUD and fear in the market!

For 😏example:

👉 Bitcoin has been 🚫 banned

👉 Bitcoin mining is harming the ⛈️environment

👉 Bitcoin is a criminal things⛓️‍👮‍♂️

👉 Future quantum technology will destroy Bitcoin❌

👉 Bitcoin price will down more 📉 in the future

👉 Bitcoin data is not secure⚠️ etc.......

We all have different reasons for buying Bitcoin and for whatever reasons that you had in mind the moment that it is in your custody it automatically means that you own it until you sell it although I understand why you categorize some holders as renters yet I wouldn't call any holders renters. I will rather call them short-term holders or weak hands who panic and sell anytime there is dip, there are also traders who buy low and sell high and I wouldn't call them renters either just because they decided to sell fast or prematurely.

I guess your ideal holders are Bitcoin long term investors who don't monitor the market but keeps buying no matter the current price, they do DCA strategy for many years without any consideration to sell.

Buy bitcoin, panic and sell the bitcoin does not mean the person rented the bitcoin or borrowed it. Rent or borrow money is completely different from buying and selling bitcoin in panic.

But you are right that people should not be afraid or panic when the price of bitcoin is falling, the price will still rise back in a way the person will make money from it.

Please don't try to be too creative and create new terms like this.

If I have anything with my own money for purchasing it, I actually own it, and I have ownership with it. Of course with Bitcoin, my bitcoin is only mine if I store it in a non custodial wallet.

Even I buy bitcoin today, sell it tomorrow, I truly have ownership of my coin for one day. Don't try to creatively change definition of Ownership.

Quote
Real ownership means understanding what you hold and why you hold it.
No, I disagree as I explained above.

Whats your opinion

You can say whatever term you want about people buying into Bitcoin because of emotion.  But the fact that they spend money to own Bitcoin.. this literally means they are owning Bitcoin, not renting it.  Selling it for profit does not support your idea of people conducting an "emotional renting".  We can call them flipping, where they buy cheap BTC and sell it at a profit.

Quote
Real ownership means understanding what you hold and why you hold it. It means preparing for volatility before it comes, not crying after it happens, It means DCA with patience… not buying with fear and selling with regret.

People buying and owning Bitcoin have their own reasons.  Just because they do not understand why they buy Bitcoin does not mean they don't have ownership, they may not have a clear understanding but the fact that they spend money to own Bitcoin states it all, that they own the Bitcoin they bought.

Anyone who is panicking in the bitcoin price downturn is not a rented investor but an original investor and he is concerned about his bitcoin investment and those who panic are not the regular investors because of the limited funds they have. But those who have money monthly would use the red charts (bear market) to invest and accumulate more but others can't so they are only interested in the bull market and not in the bear market so there is no rented investors in bitcoin. Either you are a real investor or not not an investor at all. There is no two way about it.

You are talking from the perspective of those who don't understand what bitcoin is and how to go about it investment with the best strategy, there is a time for us to buy and there is a time for us to sell, we can't make a decision at any time and think it will be profitable for us, that is why the sense of urgency is needed whereby we understand how to speculate the market and know the base entry and exit periods, this will make us more profitable after we must have invested when we took the right decision at the right time.

I’d say that everyone has their own path to success. Some people learn through trial and error exactly as you described, they buy at a high price, don’t fully understand what they’re doing, get disappointed, and sell when the price drops. But the ability to react quickly  is also an important skill, just not always applicable to bitcoin. People who are willing to learn will understand their mistakes and use the next opportunity more wisely, while others may eventually find themselves in a completely different field. For me, despite all its volatility, bitcoin is still one of the more stable elements in our extremely unstable world. And that same volatility creates opportunities for profitable investing.

Panic sales occur because some people did not fully understand why they were buying bitcoins or expected only profit from it, not understanding either the time required for investment or the volatility itself. The term "strong hands" would be appropriate here. Those who know what they want to get from their investments will certainly learn not only the pros but also the cons of Bitcoin, and having strong hands, they will not worry about price movements. Tenants, if we discuss the true meaning of the word, can easily be asked to return someone else's property, but the one who holds bitcoin already has his own, non-leased property.

Whats your opinion

This is true for many people who don't even know why they bought Bitcoin in the first place, they want to make some money and get rid of it, you can't compare them to me that turned Bitcoin to my own bank.

I use Bitcoin to store the majority of my life fund, I left small money in fiat on my bank account, I know and understand the importance of Bitcoin so along the way even if Bitcoin goes to a million dollars I will take some profits and still have some Bitcoin.

If you don't get it, don't forget that Bitcoin is my own bank not the centralised banks that billions of people in the world are used to, so everyone treats bitcoin in different ways.

We buy bitcoin for different reasons.

And thats why many people stay stuck for years. they hold bitcoin for months or even years while being negative, but when they finally see a small profit they sell too early out of fear. then later bitcoin breaks a new all time high and they miss a much bigger move
most people dont lose because of bitcoin itself. they lose because they cant control their emotions and patience in the market.

True for any form of investment, really, hardly a Bitcoin problem. If you don't have the discipline for long-term investment, it won't matter if it's bonds, futures, stocks, satoshi -- your nerve can't hold, then these long-termers aren't for you.

Easier said than practised too, for sure, and personal circumstance can come into play (like when I had to liquidate earlier than I wanted to solve a house issue!).

I agree with several your words about how the right way investing in bitcoin, nowadays many people investing in bitcoin trough excitement and other people offering but entering at the wrong time when bitcoin at higher price and make them become long term holder with bitcoin drop to lower price. I think you right about for the investor exactly beginner understand well about investing in bitcoin and know more the moment have to entry and hold bitcoin, entering at wrong moment when bitcoin most popular after raising up is big mistake and made by many new investor.

Need intelligence and knowledge about bitcoin if want to be investors, you have to know when the moment have to hold and sell bitcoin if won't to be long term keep holding bitcoin without earn profitable.

I agree with you; emotions often lead to losses. No matter how good your investment plan is, it will fail if you don't control your emotions or prevent them from making bad decisions. Over time, traders will learn more about emotions.

People say they “hold” Bitcoin… but the truth is, they only own it emotionally until the next price dump scares them out
...
Whats your opinion

Are you sure? Because I don't agree with this. No doubt people exit the market when it dumps, but only those who are weak-minded persons. They belong to those categories who have insufficient knowledge about the bitcoin market or have very little experience of the bitcoin market. They just enter the bitcoin market to make a profit in the short term, and when they see volatility in the market, they rush to sell. But the fundamentals of Hold are totally different from this.

Those who enter the bitcoin market with the plan of holding it, they hold it for the long term regardless of the condition of the market, whether it is good or bad. They don't get panicked in any uncertain condition of the bitcoin market, and when they see the price falling down they accumulate it more to set their average price as best. So there is a huge difference between a holder and a weak-minded person. Now, what do you think about this?
