Many will certainly lose their job when AI keeps improving the way things are done. But there will also be those who retain their jobs, since AI requires someone to control it.

The percentage of people who will lose their jobs in the coming years due to AI will increase by 50%. This is now the time for people who have skills to learn the new AI skills. AI has closed some doors and, at the same time, opened others. The smart ones wont complain how they lost their job but will take this time to learn a new AI skill that will land them a good-paying job.

I'd be a bit more cautious about the view that "it just moves elsewhere". Meta also canceled 6,000 open roles and there are more cuts expected later this year, so it's not a clean one-for-one swap.

The AI jobs being created need very different skills. A recruiter isn't simply walking into an ML role. Some will land elsewhere, sure, but the transition isn't painless and not everyone makes it across.

If you are a tech company, not investing into AI to build around your business would be stupid. You do not have to build an AI that is focused on public, you do not have to make a chatgpt, you can just focus on your own business, and that AI would make your job for your company easier. There are tons of work that could be replaced by AI as long as you invest long enough time and big enough capital on it.

Meta for example could use AI for all the tickets and all the ads and it would make things a lot faster and would work great for them. If you deny that and not do it then you are going to stay back when everyone else gets better. This is why I think the best case in this situation would be firing people and building AI. Because if you do not do it today, then you are going to end up with worse later on.

Companies are firing people these days because of AI and we will see results of that firing in year or two that whether companies have to undo that move or continue operations with less workforce. Those companies who haven't adopted AI yet must identify the potential AI have for them because opposing AI will only result in loss. If we look at main product of meta which is Facebook, it got popularity in 2007-08 and is still popular only because it adopt every new feature that is popular in the social media.

It will definitely be a massive problem for the economy, especially for developed countries. Plus it's going to need a long adjustment period that would need to change the education system, employment situation, AND it will change the social environment.

But I'm very confident that the adjustment phase WILL NEED stimulus package for the economy. Cool

This is the thing, when you are in the USA, a citizen of it, and working there, and then you are fired because for years people told you that coding is a great way to make money, and for the past 20 years, everyone talked about how coders made a killing in the market, and you studied software engineering because of this reasons, and then one day some AI came out and fired you, then I am sorry but what else can you even do?

You just have to use the AI yourself, you know how to code so you can clean AI's code yourself, or troubleshoot it. But you are now forced to use it, the thing that caused you to be fired, is the thing you need to utilize, otherwise you are going to be unemployed and not going to find another job.

AI is very impressive and very dangerous for humans because it works very rapidly as compared to humans in this way it creates unemployment so its proves dangerous. But after  disappearing of some jobs new ways are open for humans so the actual thing is that how can we respond this situation. In this way the individuals who adapt new technology and skills have the better chances to grow. But its not easy for anyone to learn new skills because everyone has not adaptive abilities. Many employees need some training and time to manage with AI related jobs. But AI is so adaptive that it done all works all and all it just need some development. So people don't be fraid of AI although they should learned how can we improves more development in AI. In history we saw many examples like new technology replace jobs and those individuals survive in this situation who has the ability to adapt new technology and skill.

If there was actually going to be a "AGI", then we humans are probably going to follow it to make the most important decisions for us to survive.
AGI is soon going to be with us, we aren't far away from that tech, once it gets available to consumers then things will change a lot. In next few years tech is going to reach its highest levels and who knows by 2032 how will be our lives.

We might see walking robots doing jobs of labors and replacing jobs of many people. The ones who could afford to buy those robots will be the ones to get most benefits while the laymen will have to move to areas of the world not yet taken by those robots. That sounds like sci-fi but that's going to happen in real life most probably.
AGI isn't going to happen anytime soon and it's doubtful whether it really happens or not. How are we gonna replicate emotions for AGI? We, humans, have dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, adrenaline, endorphins, testosterone, estrogen and so on. How are we gonna create an AI model that will work on these hormones? These hormones affect the way we think and risk, these hormones are basically what form you into a person. Are you a super confident person? Congrats, you are someone rewarded with lots of dopamine. Are you a risk taker? You are probably rewarded with lots of dopamine and testosterone. AGI can't be emotional, I don't think we will ever be able to convert these hormones into digital world. And even if we convert, how are we gonna determine the baseline? In real world, everyone has different level of these hormones. What about AGI?

I don't think robots will replace people. If that happens, then basically there will be billionaires and maintainers in the world.

Stop spamming this nonsense, the current understanding of consciousness is zero. The machines that are good at statistically predicting outputs are not intelligent machines, they posses no intelligence at all. Learn the difference and stop parading Scam Altman's nonsense.

I'd be a bit more cautious about the view that "it just moves elsewhere". Meta also canceled 6,000 open roles and there are more cuts expected later this year, so it's not a clean one-for-one swap.
Many users have been spamming that bullshit despite repeated corrections in this thread and others by various users, which indicates that those that are writing this do not read any posts at all. They are just shitposting whatever nonsense comes to their head no matter how wrong. You are absolutely correct that this is not true, it is as if people were so mentally weak that they have to go into denial about the most basic concepts of the world -- they are even afraid of admitting that a job contraction is happening.

The AI jobs being created need very different skills. A recruiter isn't simply walking into an ML role. Some will land elsewhere, sure, but the transition isn't painless and not everyone makes it across.
Most people will lose their jobs because their jobs are useless and their own skill level is useless, but since the job could not be previously automated they had to hire some useless pleb to do menial and shit quality work. This is a good thing, we have effectively employed an army of useless people who should not have had jobs. Oversupply of employees people leads to a decrease in work quality and average productivity, people don't appreciate their jobs as much if getting another is easy. What will be the end result of this we have to see. If a person is a braindead commie, they will want the state to solve the issue for the individual but we know how well that always works out.  Cheesy
