...
So my answer was very simple. There are no magic tricks for earning merits; you have to spend more time to learn first, and then you have to contribute to the forum. Except for this, there are no quick magic tricks. This answer is for all newbies; I didn't take it negatively since he is still a learner and he may be curious about earning merits.

Also, my advice to all newbies: don't send such a PM to any user. Because if someone takes it negatively and reports it to the admin, then you might get your account banned. On the other hand, DT members would tag as well if they took it negatively. This won't be a good practice for newbies; don't make a merit post or don't send a merit PM.

To be very honest, mate, you did a great job creating this thread to convey this message to all newbie members of this forum. Because they don't understand the nuance of this matter, and they rush to rank up as soon as possible, and they started to PM merits source or senior members of this forum to beg merits from them for a quick gain. I also once received such a request in my PM, and I also did not disclose the user's username because, just like you, I simply took his message as neutral and ignored it for that time.

You will be surprised if I tell you that the member who PM'd me was not even a newbie member. But still, he PM'd me, which surprised me at that time. And I totally agree with you here, a newbie should focus on learning new things, and they should try their best to bring good information on this forum, and whenever a merit source sees their best post, they will award them merits. This is a normal and good way of growing on this forum without getting any neutral/red tag.

There is no place for begging in the forum, to earn merit, every person must create quality posts, for this, both newcomers and experienced people in the forum need to gain knowledge about new things. Develop the habit of reading regularly and create helpful or informative posts. However, not all good posts can be expected to earn merit, it can be more disappointing.

There is no alternative to reading to earn merit in the forum. My special advice to newcomers is, you should read those posts with importance that have earned merit because of their quality. Try to understand how they earned merit, but do not copy them. Rather, use those posts as a learning medium to increase creativity and create inspiration in yourself.

Begging in form of any form is against the rules of the forum. So, directly or indirectly asking for merit from a member is wrong. Sending unsolicited messages is also not welcome, so let others take note. Some time ago, some merit sources were accepting PMs for post reviews but it has been discontinued.

To be precise one particular member who went out his way to actually asked for post review pm was  The Sceptical Chymist which was in a good faith to help users who felt their account were ignored from getting merits and at the end of the day he was disappointed about how it turned out and later suspended the whole process, I think even from his own experience it will be hard to actually see any merit source or member take that route again.

For me it’s simply just be yourself and don’t be too hard on getting merit. Although another trick again is to actually go through the profiles of this top members and instead of PMing them for merit, study how they grew in the forum and possibly try to emulate them, that can work out too

In addition to this, I believe every user has their own interests, you need to identify with your interests on the forum whether Bitcoin technical, Economics, Politics, e.t.c and try to contribute more to those sections and merit would flow naturally.
This is not always true, let us stop the pretense. You are right that it is better to find the section that interests you and post more often there, because you'd be able to make good posts based on your knowledge. But to end it with 'then merits would flow naturally' is not always true. There are many under-merited boards and even if you make good posts there, you'd hardly get any merit. Economics section is one of such boards.
Very importantly he should identify with his LB. That's the best place to begin his learning journey.
There are so many users who earn nearly 90% of their merits in their local board, there is nothing wrong in that, but we have to agree that it is 'easier' to earn merits in your local and not every user has a local board in this forum.

It has not always been easy, earning merits, especially your first merit. I remember the feeling and how it was. But then, people reason differently and understand things in different ways too. Why might make sense to someone might be trash or nonsense to the next person. Therefore, what might seem merit worthy to me might not be for the next person. So, merit don't just come easily. It takes your good post to meet with a user who sees your post as merit worthy, and also has an Smerit and is willing to spare a merit or so for your post to be merited. Untill you get into this situation and become lucky, then no merit comes your way, but then, you just have to be patient, reading and learning as time goes on.

Meanwhile, anyhow he paints his talk, it seems like merit hunting and is not really good and doesn't sound well. Newbies must avoid such act. Like you said, if you had looked at it from the negative side, he might have been reported and may be tagged. So, it should be avoided and get committed to reading, learning and grow in knowledge on how to make quality post in the forum.

I’ve gotten one or two PMs from newbies also asking about merits, some literally ask me to give them some merits so they can grow faster. I remember going through the profile of one of them and merited a few posts I felt were merit worthy. But I also gave the newbie this same advice, so they wouldn’t have the impression that they can simply just come to high ranker’s PM and beg them for merits. First of all, not everyone would take such a gesture lightly as the outcome could be disastrous. Again, even if you manage to get a few merits from a few generous folks, there’s no way you’re gonna grow that way. Just like you rightly said, there’s no magic way to earning merits or growing your rank here, but learning, experience and some good contributions can really go a long way.

Since he ("she") He was impatient that his rank was rising very slowly, and he wanted to feel like a legend.

Imagine this, isn't he happy enough for the Hero rank he already attained? Why is he so greedy to that level without working hard for it, isn't legendary and Hero rank earning slightly the same amount off signature campaign?
If he had ranked to Hero with hard work, the same burning desire can let him taste the legendary rank too.

This newbie has channeled a question which most other newbies will bring up to the public to ask directly. The person might be a newbie or not, but what I see here is someone asking for guidance, which your answer might have enlightened if they are really open to learning or the purpose of the PM was not achieved by the op which ever be the case I hope others can learn from this, unless in a situation where the user allow for review request there is no need to send such PM, everyone might not be as kind as the op, some will report it straight as unsolicited mg or hand out a tag.

Instead of begging for merit, they should post a submission on fillippone's [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed thread. If they have been here for 50 days, they probably have a post that might deserve merit.

I'm assuming the newbie who sent the PM to The Cryptovator is reading this thread and probably the posts too. I suggest try posting a submission to fillippone's thread.

Dude already has the wrong orientation to be seeking to make his post merit worthy, instead of looking out how to contribute meaningfully to the forum. This PM speaks desperation and he needs to slow down on such, else he's gonna act out of it and get burned pretty soon

The biggest problem we have now is that our newbies are not willing to learn and they want to grow their account as fast as possible, they will be looking at the higher ranked members and be willing to earn merits as quickly as possible to also rank up for some reasons which may include signature campaigns participation and so on, and it is not done that way, we need to understand that everything is a process and we can’t overlook what we are supposed to do and think we can make it easily.

Jumping to DMs for merits means the member is desperate to have merits which is wrong, but I appreciate as the user was left anonymous and I hope the user lean from this thread to avoid being tagged by the DT members.

Not that posting in my thread automatically grants any merit for actually being sent!
I know I have been criticised for the low standard required to get merit in my post, yet I do the bare minimum analysis of post content!

I will not show the nickname of the sender of the PM, but I can say that the request for merit once came to me not from a novice but from someone who suddenly decided that he was my friend and therefore decided that he could write whenever he wanted, as well as write asking me to send him merit, since he ("she") He was impatient that his rank was rising very slowly, and he wanted to feel like a legend.
Like I always say the more seriously you tend to take merit in every single thing that you do on this forum the higher the chances you are gonna do nonsense and it's mostly because of desperation and greed. Merit is just a byproduct not an actual thing to case when you likely intend to rank.

Sometimes most genuine newbies may not even be able to throw PMs mentioning merit just like that. So many though but those that are trying to grow might probably think of it as a risk.

As the OP said, "There are no magic tricks to earning merits", and I completely agree with this. Basically, all forum members here start by devoting time to extensive learning, and then contributing to the forum to earn merits. It is not instant; it takes a odyssey to get there, and a struggle to earn it. So, I advise newbies not to look for quick fixes, let alone begging for merits; that is strictly prohibited in this forum.

Therefore, try to learn more, and cultivate your curiosity. Then, I am sure you will get through this, and earn the rewards commensurate with your contributions. The bottom line is, don't give up easily. As long as, what you contribute is helpful or beneficial, it won't be in vain. Trust me.

As a rule of thumb, you should have a different priority when you join this forum. Instead of gaining merits as your main goal, your mindset should be focused and catered towards learning and overall improvement before you could earn and gain merits in the process.

I have mentioned this before- the more you focus on gaining merits on your comments, the harder it would be for you to achieve it. Instead, have a general mindset of improvement and learning then merits would become a by-product of your efforts which would be more rewarding.

To all newbies who want to really earn merits, then I would suggest that you start with your local boards for easier communication and train of thought. You would be able to convey your message without any difficulty especially if you use your mother tongue to share your knowledge and information.

The only magic I'm aware of to earn merit is actually making fine posts not exactly sending PMs. Plus most times it's naturally better to just focus on trying to contribute and learn from the forum and allow merit to come as a byproduct of your efforts instead of chasing merits.

I believe impatience is one of the major reasons why most newbies are actually unable to create organic posts and contents so they just resort to copy pasting AI content instead. With in my own limits I'll try to genuinely support those that are doing what's right.

Exactly that, patience is key in all of this. At the end of the day, every effort pays off, including on the forum. There are so many opportunities, so many ways to earn merit, even if you don't have a lot of knowledge. I agree with you that sending private messages is wrong, and that the real "magic" is just making a quality post

At the beginning, every newbie thinks that they will get merits by asking from others, but they have to understand that merits are not like things you can ask for. In fact, they are things you have to earn. If you find someone deserving and valuable, you can merit their post, and that's how it goes from person to person.

so yeah for getting it bing some new information to the forum, identify the bugs and scammers, help the forum members with their confusion, and then you will be merited by someone who appreciates your work. You see the big ranks, they all go through the same process, work hard, and they earn those merits. So do your own hard work and earn it.

The irony is that he is very greedy and has more than one account on the forum.

...
One of their tasks is simply to be consistent in their participation so that their goal of growing their account to a higher level becomes easier through their consistent attitude. However this is rare for beginners who simply want to achieve without putting in the effort. Without confidence in their efforts to improve their account it's also difficult to earn achievement points. These achievement points are the result of our efforts which makes many people believe we deserve them. Ultimately over time the account will continue to grow or improve according to our desires.

However when someone's account is already involved in a campaign more effort is put into consistency. This differs from accounts that don't participate at all where someone prefers to remain silent and not put in the effort so that their account can participate in the campaign and earn achievement points quickly.

This is very true but incomplete.

Because if the newbie don't know how to add up good contribution on the forum he will be ignored by fillippone, that guy only merit those who deserves it, and if somehow a newbie passed that, will he keep earning from fillippone?

There was a topic or opinion I read on here about how a account only earned all their merits from fillippone, that makes them a shit poster on the forum, "said not by me but the opinion", and to be frank we will all feel the same if anyone earned all their merits from fillippone thread only.

But I do like what fillippone did, you can only try for 7rounds, once that is over it is OVER.
If someone can't earn merits on their own, that's not a good sign.

Contribution is everything on here.

Not that posting in my thread automatically grants any merit for actually being sent!
I know I have been criticised for the low standard required to get merit in my post, yet I do the bare minimum analysis of post content!
Yep, I've observed that. I see people submit 5 posts and only get 3 merits, which means you actually read the posts and ignore those that were not merit worthy.

About the topic, newbies can be excused based on inexperience in the forum but the person who gets the PM should straighten them up with correct information and not necessarily ignore them, so they don't go ahead messing up. The one that pisses me off the most is members who have been here for while asking to exchange merit the aid faster ranking up when they see you getting close to your next rank. It sucks, but happens of a regular.
