This is a brotherly Advice especially for my fellow beginners on this forum and other low ranking people on this our Local board (Especially) because I don't want any body to fall victim. I have received PMs even as a beginner that I am. Some of those PM was centred on asking for merit from me and I was now asking myself if I receive such message at my rank, that means say our higher ranking members here will be receiving many messages like that daily.

I want to advise that you should not do something like that especially to some of these ogas because you may do it and they will report your account or they can even start avoiding your account and stop giving you merit even when you made a good post that deserves merit. Please you don't know who is who and I don't mean to report anyone. But I don't want someone to fall victim.
See

I just brought this to our local board because I saw another thread on the beginner and help that is coming from one oga like that with the same complaint. There are some people you will mistakenly send it to and they will use it against you. Please let's be careful https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5583578.0

Begging for merits in the forum is highly prohibited and can be penalize offensively. You should have display the name of the account or better still report to the moderator for proper action to be taken, hiding the name from the general public is like hiding evil.

However, merit should be earn through your performance and not by begging. Such thing is very annoying and funny as well, all this are being triggered by desperation to get into a signature campaign. Moreover, we are all adult so understanding a simple instruction shouldn't surpose to be a problem to us.

This is a bad behavior and should be penalized. i thought I was the only one that got the PM so I let it slid even though I replied the user that merit are earned naturally when you make good quality post. If your post is worth meriting it will speak for it self by earning merit without you begging anyone. But it’s now  looking like it’s his strategy sending various pm to different users with the same text. it’s obvious that it’s a strategy to farm account i hope moderators in the forum can do something about it. Initially I didn’t want to expose him because I thought he was ignorant about merit rules but it doesn’t seems so. he’s sending to different users so I think it should stop.

I read your whole post and honestly spent some time thinking about how low someone can go just to beg for merit like this. Earning merit in this forum is not that difficult if someone is willing to put in a little honest effort. But sadly, there are still some members who do not want to do even that basic work, so they keep sending messages to different users asking for merit.

By hiding the identity of the person who sent you the message, are you trying to give him another chance? I could not really find any clear existence of that person in your whole post. In my opinion, if you receive PMs like this, it is better to expose the identity of the sender. That way, proper action can be taken against him and a warning tag can also be placed on the account. Anyway, please stay careful about these matters and never get involved in merit farming or account farming in any way.

I've never received any PM from a merit beggar before and I don't look forward to it neither have I sent PM to any account for merit help but I get it that some of us here do get such messages. Firstly the forum is against merit begging so beggars and potential beggars should know that they are commiting an offence anytime that they beg for merit, merit is earned in this forum and if you're not getting enough of it you have to be patient.

If you're not getting enough merit then you should try and increase the quality of your posts and hopefully somebody will be impressed and reward you with merit. If you're doing your best and yet not getting merit for your post you just have to keep pushing because the merit system in this forum is not entirely fair to members.

It's funny how we carry this out begging culture reach every where. You want to beg your way to the top. Where on earth has someone done that. Abeg na, abeg na. Na wa ooh. I am pretty sure he knew that they don't beg for merit. But decided to do so. Otherwise, how did he know. Or he read on part and leave the rest. Funny thing is that people will still do this.

I don’t support the idea of exposing the name of the person to the general public, we all know that newbies are mostly the ones doing this, and majority of them are ignorants of that fact that begging for merits is not allowed in the forum. It’s better you advise the person to stop that he might get into trouble if he continues doing that. I don't think anyone will know that what he is doing will get him into trouble, and the person will continue doing it. If they knew that what they are doing is against the forum rules, they wouldn’t have engaged in such act in the first place.

If it was so than op shouldn't have bother  creating a whole topic with it since his intentions was only to advice him, he would have rather advice him via pm and that settle it. But that's by the way, the most important things is that if the person in question has admitted that what he did is wrong and retrace his step otherwise he would be this lucky the next time he try it.

I believe their is a process or requirements for earning merit in this very forum, and I think if those requirements are met, you will surely be given merit. I also understand that making quality post is what can earn you merit which we are all aware of .
If you are a beginner, you will be growing gradually from one stage of the forum rank to another, and your growth depends on how active, and insightful you can be in your activities here, so it will be very wrong of any member to begin to ask for merit, and some of these people who ask for merits are just beginners who haven't made any significant effort, and they are already begin for merit, members who indulge in this kind of act should desist from it to avoid being penalized.

There some thread here on this forum you can request for a merits review by posting those of your post you think that do not earn enough Merits or that deserves to be merited, I do not see any reason begging anyone here except for those people that permits sending them pm for merit review. However, if I came across any profile that is worth meriting I wouldn't mind going through their post to spare some of Merits.

Do not Spam, keep having good discussions then you would be that enable to earn without you begging.

Why should a member prefer to send someone a message begging for merit, that is very bad. This is a forum, enjoy while posting and have some friends which can benefit you, than sending a message to someone that you have not known but telling him about giving you merit. It is also my advise for people like newbies to avoid begging for merit.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

I have two different people in my PM which I displayed above and I strongly believe the two of them might be in this local board so there's every tendency they will see this thread. Sometimes things like this are targeted to let he who has ear, hear because we all are here for various purposes of which the entire goal is to be better than we were. So if they take corrections, fine but if they insist, they will definitely land on someone's PM who will use the report button.

Exposing their profile is what I don't see as necessary especially in this instance because some of the people that joined did not spend enough time reading the forum rules or seeking for knowledge about the DOs and Don'ts, such people are the ones that go about in PMs like this without knowing the implications. With patience, I hope everyone will get there one day so why worry!

The last line of this your PM got me rolling on the floor😂 but come to think of it, with activity of 30 and 6 merits, I don't think it's a bad performance from anyone because I have seen some accounts that are worse or really very lower than this.

Of course there is a process to earn merit in bitcointalk forum which if followed in the proper manner then we will be merited by users that find our replies or comments informative. So asking for merit from other members is absolutely wrong and that really a bad idea because such manners is going against the forum rules and regulations and to avoid bad trust from other high ranks members let abide by the rules and focus on building ourselves gradually without asking for others help.
Stay active learn many possible stuffs about cryptocurrency, share your idea, give informative information and the hard work is going to pay and stay patient too.

If he's doing good post then why will he be scared of not having merit, even if the merit is not coming now as expected definitely it come unless he's writing junk because that's the only reason I can think of.  Secondly, for him to be coming to your personal dm asking for merit look childish, and such act can jeopardize his account if being figured out. Therefore, am urging and also encouraging him to stop bugging people about merit and focus more on building himself, and if this is reached I can assure him of over coming this stage.

I don't know why some persons are not patient enough to learn from the forum, so that they can acquire enough knowledge and information which will help them to creating good quality threads which will in turn bring merits to them. Instead will be going to the extent of sending private pm to members of the forum in a bid to receiving merits which will help them to rank up quickly. This type of behavior is highly disgraceful and is totally uncalled for.

This only shows how desperate people are, I don't think that any ranking member of the forum which wasted time, efforts which took out time to study and learn with the bid to learn and creating good post which has helped them to rank up will actually give merits to such persons. This is because such members are not serious and don't want to improve on themselves merits are given to threads that has meaningful information and not on the platform of begging.

Trying to sneak into people's DMs with intensions of begging for merits is uncalled for and should be stopped as soon as possible. Life is in progress and it is slow and steady as we give space to learning. I really have gained a lot from this forum which a may not be saying here. I have learnt to be independently focus with confidence that I can attain to any level no matter what happened and who I thing I am we think we are, many a times we look down on our self, thinking we are not worth reaching bthat hight we are aspiring to get to in life.
A step at a time we all will get to the top at different time with different motives.

There is no two ways of earning a higher rank in this forum. A good post will attract merit sources to light the post. Asking for merit through PM is cheating and an infringement of privacy, which most members wont be happy if they receive such a message. I will advise anyone who receive such PM to block and report the user to the moderator immediately.
