Asian slots / pachinko machines are something else...

Good morning to everyone here in the gambling section of the forum. I was scrolling down on Instagram yesterday night, and I stumbled on some random reel which showed a pachinko/slot machine going bonus mode...

It made me realize those machines make our western slots machine animations to pale in comparison to the high level of animations and lights which are used to induce dopamine on gamblers there in Asia, to the point it feels like an exaggeration to me.

I wanted to know your opinion about it...
Would you gamble on a machine like this one for real or would it affect your vision and senses too quickly for you to enjoy your gambling session?.

I would like to include a Flashing lights warning to the following video, because I would not like to harm anyone with it.

As someone who enjoys minimalism found in sober casinos like Stake, I don't think I could stick to this machine longer than thirty minutes without needing to rest my eyes from it.

I think that's a trend and even if you don't want to play on something like that, most of the casinos are dominated by that animation. For me as long as it didn't happen during a normal session and only comes during bonus mode as that would literally makes me dizzy. It is indeed that they've really exaggerate it to to induce dopamine to players but I think there should be a warning to players that those slot machines/slot games contains flashing lights that may trigger seizure to some people.

Colorful and an eyesore. But I don't think that is how the feedback would be.

I like Stake more. Very plain. I could look at different sports events for an hour without hurting my eyes. I like the black and white theme and the UI. I guess some people do find colorful and flashy lights on their gambling websites or their games. Still, this could really be harmful to our eyes if we are exposed to too much of it. Then add the radiation sent by our gadgets.
Simple is okay for me. I guess that is why I never left Stake for years. I don't need to find any other gambling site because they have everything that I need, and the simplicity of the UI is enough.

To tell you the truth, I really like all that exaggerated stuff with slot machines, hahaha
I didn’t think I would, but when I played at a physical casino and a slot machine gave me a bonus, making a lot of noise and flashing lots of lights, it was really exciting and fun, hahaha
People even stop to look at you 

It must get tiring to stay there for a long time, obviously, but it’s really cool for short periods of time

If only I would understand what is written behind those Asian characters, maybe I would have paid more attention to this kind of slot machine. But right now this machine look repulsive than attractive due to flashing lights and animation. I think I would skip such machine at all, as due to old mechanical+modern visial effects it look very strange or unreliable.

I don't know, but with me, having a lot of experience playing in land base casino with huge machines and animations, I don't find the video amusing or an eye sore. It's just normal to me and I feel some rush inside my body watching those slot machines.

And it shows though that everyone is very different in terms of UI and animation and what we feel and see on the screen. Hopefully, I'm not the only one who see those games as somewhat normal and not an eye sore.

I checked the video and it seems alright with the colour combinations. It is quite attractive and effective to start with as many players would like it to be well lit for them to catch the fun while they play games. As for me, the light would be too heavy for my eyes so I would prefer the normal colour and not something too deep as  such. However,  those mixed colours are what makes it more catchy and enticing and most players would prefer it lit that way.

Thats typical I think. When I always gone to casino I also notice the same design and bright looks of most slot machines. I guess thats how casino think how the clients and customer will be entertained. For me its okay, cause its gonna be a pale game or moments if the design is quite simple or dry. I dont know I went to three different casinos here in our region and I can say almost the same style.

I have my favourite casino on my phone and I mostly play on the casino, except for occasional period where I'm out with my friends and right there in the casino, we could be comfortable with some things that if it were to be only you on your own, you would not be playing on the machine due to some circumstances like this but because of the good moment with your friends, your mind could be distracted from thinking about light. Normally on my own, I would not feel comfortable playing up to the time I want because the too much brightness and distractions in the casino will be very exhausting.

It's always based on the culture and majority often you play on gambling.

Example, If you gambling since early and seeing these kind of stuf. I think you don't mind with it, but for a people who are never seeing it and already play a slot with other time less flash light. Then.... he not gonna like at all.

So, is always depends on your usual gambling activity.

It would probably start hurting my eyes in just under 10 minutes, and I would probably suffer some headache. My eyes can't handle bright flashing lights, it's also when I look for a casino to play on, I always consider what color their UI are.

Additional info regarding pachinko, I remember watching a documentary where they said that pachinko is the leading cause of gambling addiction in Japan.

Every gambler have their own preference. There are people who love explosive presentations, while there are people who like the minimalist one, and others like the average one.  Just like how gamblers like to play alone or to play with the crowd.  

For me, an average presentation is good, I like soothing music and hate loud noises.  Too much lighting does not appeal to me.  I would rather see a graphic that is cool to the eye.  Not too dim to strain my eyesight or too much light that is blinding to the eyes.

There is a myth that the addiction qualities of a game that is specifically created to be easy on the eye can be fully subdued by the visual comfort of the game. The soothing images can be a rather thinly veiled effort to make users maintain a long time of screen time without even noticing time to elapse. The optimal is to cut down screen time to the absolute in favor of eye and brain health.

Well, after watching the video, I must say NO. This is too crazy, and I guess those signs mean something, but I don't understand anything... so this is not a game I would like to play for long. Maybe a few spins just to feel it, but where could I do that is a big question...

I've never traveled to Asia, but I've seen many videos of Asian streets and casinos, and they really like colorful things. That's why I'm not surprised to see their slot machines with lots of colors. But I wonder if that doesn't cause them vision problems or make them dizzy when they're playing. Because I wouldn't be able to play those machines.

Theoretically at the very least based off what I've read, lights can actually be used as a form of hypnosis and it's definitely very possible it was created that way to keep people playing continuously. I think it actually also has a strong relation to whaty the icons on the slot machine looks totally different.

Personally I don't like flashing lights that much changing the intensity of light suddenly actually messes with your retina and it can actually be very uncomfortable but then again it's relative to the person in question.

They are attractive and not only about the flashy lights but also the sounds that it has got. And there's a science and psychological reason behind it when someone sees that and they can't decline to gamble with it. But if the lights are too flashy and we're no longer young and that seems to be harmful to our eyes, we'll not gamble with it. Only us can determine if we can bear with the lights of it and our vision can still do it. If it's not, of course don't try to harm your eyes even if the game and sounds is too attractive. There are other games in there that we can enjoy.
