Good morning to everyone here in the gambling section of the forum. I was scrolling down on Instagram yesterday night, and I stumbled on some random reel which showed a pachinko/slot machine going bonus mode...

It made me realize those machines make our western slots machine animations to pale in comparison to the high level of animations and lights which are used to induce dopamine on gamblers there in Asia, to the point it feels like an exaggeration to me.

I wanted to know your opinion about it...
Would you gamble on a machine like this one for real or would it affect your vision and senses too quickly for you to enjoy your gambling session?.

As someone who enjoys minimalism found in sober casinos like Stake, I don't think I could stick to this machine longer than thirty minutes without needing to rest my eyes from it.

It appears that the video has been taken down but I've recently encountered one of these live Plinko machine halls in person and it was truly incredible to see rows upon rows of these machines which were quite popular it seemed - I'd say that more than half of them were taken by players when we're talking about a couple hundred machines at least. There was a huge variety of them as well and it seems bonkers the steps you have to go through just to cash them out. Based on the age range of players as well, with quite a few old people in the mix, it'd suggest they become a hobby later in life and people form a strong bond with it.

The video isn't available anymore so I can't see the flashing lights.

That's happened to me—I wanted to watch it, but it's no longer available.

But playing on the slot that have flashing lights will makes my eyes tired quickly. I don't want to stick to the machine longer and I need to rest my eyes.

I prefer to play slot machine that I already used. That will be better for me as I can stay at my monitor for a while and not feels tired, also I feels difficult to enjoy the game.

Same here. Not too keen on flashing lights and also, I don't know if that's a way to keep people hooked, assuming they can handle the flashing lights. Knowing that slot machines are the games that have been most thoroughly studied and psychologically engineered to keep people clicking nonstop, I'm skeptical.

Sorry for the incovenience, the hosting service I decided to use to share the video only allows one to host a video for two days before they decide to delete it, and to be frank, I did not feel like opening and completely new account on their hosting service in order to host for longer times and I thought using YouTube was not appropriate to share something as short like this with you all.

Anyways, I have refreshed the link and edited the OP so if there are more people curious of what asian pachinko machines look like can take a look and leave their opinions.

I will find other hosting services with allow one to at least keep a video up for at least one week because taking it down.

Cheers and have a lovely night of rest.  Wink

Oh my! This is too much, just 30 seconds of watching this video and my eyes can't take it. I'm not a fan of this kind of animation, there's no peace at all, maybe because I'm too old yeah. hahaha
I think this kind of animation is only suitable for gamblers under 25 years old or those (gamblers) who like anime.

In this video, it the bottom it is noticed that ball are moving on the left, then in the center one ball falls down - does it means that on this video we see one spin or bet? Then this is really horrible machine if I need to watch this flashing screen with video every time I make a spin. If someone who wants to win in slots have to make hundreds of spins, then watching hundred times all that really hurt eyes and becomes annoying.

Not in a million years i would play something like that. I am constantly even putting brightness levels low for my monitors and phone to get less of visuals.

I am wondering that what's the thought process on making that screen so hectic and flashing. Have an Asian designers different kind of education when it comes to accessibility in design, or are they just looking for shock value to separate from the mass?

As there's no way it's enjoyable for most people, and it's not even hypnotic flashing. It's just more noise. Which is ironical as in noisy cities one would think that they would appreciate serenity and peace. I would think that people would pay more for having less visual clutter and noise around them.

I would like to include a Flashing lights warning to the following video, because I would not like to harm anyone with it.

Here is the video in question of the machine working: https://streamable.com/9wsufp

As someone who enjoys minimalism found in sober casinos like Stake, I don't think I could stick to this machine longer than thirty minutes without needing to rest my eyes from it.

I saw the video — it’s pretty good. After seeing a lot of slots, I’d put this one in the top ten without a doubt. But I feel like I can’t fully enjoy it because, unfortunately, I don’t know Japanese. As for your preferences, I think it’s great that you’re able to enjoy minimalism. I think it should be my goal too, but for now I tend to like slots like the one in your video.

Not even mention the machine also decides to flash some anime butt and boobs to the gambler. So it is definitely intended to be used by fans of certain animate japanese series (anime/manga).

It is what it is, Japan is the very different place to what we are accustomed here in the West.

It is a pachinko machine. There are basically a way for people to be able to gamble in Japan, since regular slots are banned from Japan.
Gamblers are intended to use those small metal balls as wager, so they impulse then into an array of obstacles, depending when it falls the gambler then receives more metal balls as prize. Those metal balls can be redeemed for cash in a store outside of the establishment where those pachinko machines are located.

To each their own, I guess.
I just feel I could not focus on having a good time with these pachinko games if they decided to flash so many colors at me whenever I managed to get a good luck strike. I would probably close my eyes until all the animations are over so I can continue to gamble in peace.
Also, one does not need to know japanese in order to know one is doing good or bad with these kind of pachinko machines. Animations are quite self-explanatory.

Yes, I have heard that in Japan they are not able to use money directly, but must use ball or something else as "money" to gamble. But I am confused with that load of animation and information on the screen when it is just one spin.

P.S. That is very unusual to see they small metal balls for betting. From the glance, it looks like those balls are easy to copy, or replace with plastic beads when you place a bet. How does their casino manage such risk?
