It could have been more profitable if they target bitcoin, but that does not lost the fact that investing money not their own is still subject for investigation for mismanagement of funds.

We all knows that no investment is risk free and so therefore, even investing in bitcoin isn't advisable knowing that the beneficiaries may ask for the funds anytime for the need they projected it for since death is inevitable and unpredictable.
We should also acknowledge the short term risks of investing even in bitcoin but then, the risk would had been minimal than investing it on Ethereum which landed the firm in the great lost and leaving beneficiaries frustrated.

I thought maybe people were already aware of such moves by these firms, because if they are making it public and spreading the word intentionally, then that means they are probably legally prepared. Sometimes they may trick people into signing agreements where hidden clauses protect them from future lawsuits, just like banks do. They give us a long list of terms and conditions that most people never fully read, and we sign them without spending even a minute on them.

They took a risk with eth and now they are facing a huge loss, but I checked multiple sources and they never said they were filing for insolvency. To be fair, it's not that they do not know but more about how they do not care. I have seen people who follow twitter and just invest based on that. I have met with a guy who has lost 50k dollars on a single token because he saw someone suggest it on some telegram channel, and I honestly did not felt bad for him after he lost it because I knew that this would happen and he deserved to lose it all.

This is why it makes sense for all of us to see this as not a big deal and should not be looking at this as something that would be all that reasonable. Let them lose their money if they want to do that, the real traders and investors will end up working really hard towards finding all they can find about the places they invest into.

Because people are tied to this idea and they're investing based on the value of the asset they're investing. However, I don't see any wrong investing into a prepaid funeral service since its a kind of practicality, but trusting the wrong people or management is the very wrong decision here. They don't lose their personal money, but they are like gambling our own hard-earned funds because they invested into a wrong asset, they invested blindly using our own money and life savings.
