Funny enough this laughable. He might or not regret it. Who knows? No one. Except if I was to be in his shoes. I will definitely regret my actions. I think what I would do if I was in his shoes will be to buy bitcoin more and accumulate. We all may criticize him but come on. Nobody knew Bitcoin will be of great value now. Imagine if everyone knows. Bitcoin will never go up. It will definitely be dead by now.  Give the dude some space. Heard this story too much and I am already tired if hearing it.

The other side to this story is that of the recipient of the Bitcoin (jercos) who spent them all on a road trip across the US when he ran out of funds. Clearly, Bitcoin was not seen as a asset but rather as a currency. Nobody could have predicted it's phenomenal rise to date.

"On May 22, 2010, Sturdivant received 10,000 BTC from developer Laszlo Hanyecz. The payment covered two Papa John’s pizzas ordered on Sturdivant’s credit card....

Sturdivant said he never considered the BTC an investment. He treated the coins as functional currency and spent them as their value gradually climbed. He emphasized that Bitcoin was meant to be used, not stored as a speculative asset. When a cross-country road trip left him short on funds, the Bitcoin covered the gap."

Do you think Laszio will be regretting his actions for using that account of bitcoin to purchase just 2 pizza.
Well for me I don’t think his regretting his actions because that action has given him popularity and he has made history through that and now people celebrate him for his actions so I don’t think his regretting his actions and lastly I believe he has a lot of bitcoin his still holding.

The bitcoin community will keep celebrating Laszio because he has made history with bitcoin and the world in general can’t forget his name.

I don't know if he regrets it, but if I were here, I would definitely regret the current state of Bitcoin. Regret is not a new thing, it was regretted when the price of Bitcoin exceeded a few hundred dollars, because the value of Bitcoin was not even a few cents at that time, considering that you only got two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins. It was actually a historical event that we still remember that day with. Laszlo is truly a hero in the Bitcoin world. He must be regretting that day now. If he doesn't have enough Bitcoin now. But if he still has enough Bitcoin, then he is not regretting it, but rather he is proud of that day.

Regret is inevitable for him but I’m pretty sure he would still be holding on to the regret instead will be trying his best to cover up the loop holes that the actions might have cost him by gathering some coins since then when bitcoin started moving upward till date and probably has more than he sold now. But like I said if you must be known, what you are bound to do must be regrettable and outrageous for ordinary kinds.

Do you think Laszio is regretting his actions.

I really don't believe that Laszlo regretted what he did. When he bought it, Bitcoin did not have any real world value back then, and this was one of the biggest moments in Bitcoin history. If people didn't buy bitcoin at that time,  it may not have become what it is today. The two pizzas were a proof that Bitcoin can indeed be used for something besides digital experimentation.

Sure, in today's context, seeing how much those Bitcoins are worth may be of surprise for anyone,  but I think that Laszlo has the bigger picture in mind. It was the first time that a transaction made a history,  and it's a marking event the whole crypto community still celebrates every year, which is Bitcoin Pizza Day.

Don't know, don't care.
Back then BTC was only worth a small fraction of a cent and stayed there for years so was a good deal IMHO.

As at when it happened 10,000 Bitcoins were worth just $41 which was not expensive then. Even Jeremy Sturdivant the middleman who got the Bitcoin spent his own too. As a human, he would feel guilty that you would have held the coin. But he has said several times that he is not regretting his actions. Others spent their own on gambling but he used his own and made a mark for life. He will forever be remembered in the Bitcoin community. He used his own to purchase immortality.

The answer is; like several forum friends have said, Laszlo has no regrets, and in fact, he feels happy. Maybe, Laszlo was annoyed when he saw the price of bitcoin rising, but I am sure he doesn't regret it.

By the way, I think we need to differentiate between the words "annoyed" and "regret". Annoyed occurs not because of one own will, or desire, but because of someone else mistake. Regret occurs because of one own mistakes, and stems from personal decisions. So, I think the word "annoyed" is appropriately used for "things beyond one control". right? Cmiiw.

Not really, he has been vocal from his past interviews and has seen it even a success rather than a source of regret. That way, he successfully proved to anyone doubting bitcoin that it could actually function as a peer-peer payment method. That happened way back 2010 where only few have recognized bitcoin, compared today where almost everyone recognized bitcoin but still doubtful if bitcoin could make a good currency in the market.

The story with trading bitcoin into two Papa John's pizzas was an early proof that bitcoin is bound to be a reliable currency, not just a profitable tool for investment. Although some are actually accepting bitcoin, but still few and limited.

Do you think Laszio will be regretting his actions for using that account of bitcoin to purchase just 2 pizza.

This question have been asked many times on the forum as a topic, I'm surprised that in 2026, we're still asking this same question. Laszlo Hyenkes perfectly understood what he did. I understand that the number of Bitcoin he traded for two pizza are worth millions today hence the narrative that he might have regretted later but we forgot that before that transaction took place, Bitcoin's value was just theoretical. It was that transaction that proved that Bitcoin can actually be used as a means of exchange and he had never regretted making that transaction.

I spent it all on pizza long ago:  https://blockchain.info/address/1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

3-4 years ago there were less than 100 people frequenting this forum, and I was pretty happy to trade 10,000 coins for pizza.  I mean people can say I'm stupid, but it was a great deal at the time.  I don't think anyone could have known it would take off like this. Smiley

Laszlo

I believe that people dwell too much on the regrets when speaking of Laszlo. Of course. It is easy to look back at it with today's price in mind and say. Oh wow he did really pick the wrong stock. But when the price is viewed in today's terms. It's easy to see that he made a big mistake. As Bitcoin had virtually no real-world uses at the time and no one knew what it would become. His transaction itself was a wake-up call to the world that Bitcoin was usable as money. A step that made it much more likely to be adopted. In the early days. If no one had used Bitcoin as a means of payment. Its ecosystem may have evolved differently. His action may have left him at a crossroads.  But it is bitcoin history.
