Let say; they would only see that area where you are only making your post without them looking above to know the site you are using
.
I have also tried to change my phone screen guard to privacy but when my screen resolution is high they could easily capture the site you are accessing, to an extent I have reduced my phone brightness yesterday the person at my back still keep peeping my phone to know what I am doing. Although here where I am currently is actually highly populated where can't it hide from the next person. Went out to watch live match that was just concluded, I mean Arsenal 2 v 1 crystal palace.
Hide username and avatar is possible with the userscript built by TryNinja but about hiding all things on the screen, like the URL is impossible. I don't know how do you want to do several things at the same time, watching a football match and reading posts or typing your own posts in the forum. You can do it at home but when you're watching a football match at a public place, why do you have this need, as I see it is unlike urgent need.

When you use Internet at public places, there is security risk too, not only what people can see on your phone screen.

The solution requested in the original post seems to be a real need for me too. Because many times I have to enter the forum with my mobile phone while I am outside or with friends. Then, if the URL bar at the top of the browser is visible, someone nearby can easily understand which website I am on.
Although this is not a major security problem, it is a bit uncomfortable in terms of personal privacy. Does anyone know the right solution?

Op, many people have suggested the use of a privacy screen guard but I am surprised that you said privacy screen didn't work for you. Could it be that you bought the wrong privacy screen guard? The last time I used the privacy screen guard, it worked so well for me.

many times I have to enter the forum with my mobile phone while I am outside or with friends.
All that happened in the 3 days you've joined? Did you just use the wrong alt account?
It could be that he logged-in up to 50 times within 3 days, and out of the 50 times people tried to poke him 30 times. That justifies the many times within a few days Grin

I've gone through most of the replies on this thread with smart suggestions on how to hide your bitcointalk URL in the public, I think that they are all brilliant ideas but the best for me remains to enter the forum when there are no prying eyes around you. Since you're concerned about people seeing the URL it is better to enter the forum when you're alone in your private space, nobody will be curious to know what you're doing.

So far this forum doesn't have specific times when we must login and signature campaigns don't also have specific times when your posts will be eligible to be counted it means that you're not under pressure to enter the forum in public places so just relax until you are in a conducive place before entering.

I haven't put a thought about this before but as called to your concern I gave it a try.
What you're asking for happens to be impossible on hiding the forums website Url and I don't either see this as an issue of the browser because I've used several browsers and was to no avail.
I don't even know the risk indicated of the Url visibility and perhaps that's not a display on the public view except you're sharing your device which is supposed to be your privacy with others.
If you really feel that unsafe with the BITCOIN caption, then you shouldn't use the forum if you're in the public place especially that moment someone is trying to peep over.

The privacy screen protector alone can't do the job, although we have them in different quality, but what I usually do is also change my phone to dark mode and reduce the phone's brightness to a minimum, which only me looking directly at the phone can see what's going on there freely.
Have you used one before? Probably it is fake or inferior. I have told my brother before that how come I do not see what is on his phone when he is using it? He told me he used privacy screen protector for it. He said he bought it for that reason. You will not be able to see anything on the phone from the side view if you get the good one.

Buy it from a trusted seller. Make sure you explain what you want to the seller, and tell the seller to put it on your phone for you and test it to know if it is good or not, but make sure you told the seller that this is what you want and let him give you assurance that it is before he opens the screen protector.
Yes, I have used one, and I'm currently using it on my phones. One thing that I have observed is that, from a side view, everything indeed will be blank and won't be seen by someone who is trying to look into your screen, but anyone who is standing behind you, like at your back can see that's why I recommend a reduced screen brightness, which also protects our eyes.

Bitcointalk doesn't support PWA (Progressive Web App) so using Chrome's "add to home screen" will still show your url

The most practical option I know is using Kiwi browser or Brave on Android. They have this feature that allows you force any site into standalone web app when you add it to your home screen. If you do, the top URL bar will become invisible when you open either of the apps from the home screen. Edit: I forgot to add that you'll still get a full screen view of the site
This fits the Op's situation very well.
I don't know of Kiwi browser and I use brave browser on android and it works exactly as you described.
I force some URLs to the home screen and it gives the vibe of an app and also give me ease of accessibility.

Brave browser is not a good one to use on both desktop and mobile because Brave is Chrome-based browser, and it broke its slogan about privacy for their users. Years ago, they required KYC for Brave browser users who want to claim $BRAVE token and it's not how a browser with a slogan of privacy is a core function should do.

If you want better privacy, user Firefox or Firefox-based browsers like Tor browser.

Same thing with Safari on iOS. The problem is you can’t have multiple tabs open if you are using Bitcointalk as a standalone web app. Arc used to be a very customizable browser where you could place the URL bar in the side panel, which could then be hidden. This browser was discontinued, so the OP might have to try a more obscure browser that has been suggested in the thread.

This might not even be all that effective in giving you privacy. Even if you hide the URL, people might still see the thread titles that mention Bitcoin or the big white letters at the top left of every page where it says Bitcoin Forum.

If wanting privacy, it's easily to avoid logging in your forum account, open your Bitcoin wallets at public locations. You can visit the forum website without logging in your forum account, that's acceptable for privacy. Because it's not like too dangerous if the others know you are reading something on the forum. Things can be escalated and more risky if they see you have an account here.

But it is higher concern with your Bitcoin wallets, don't open them publicly and let the other people know about that. People must keep their investment, holding or trading in Bitcoin market as most secret and private as possible.

On a desktop, I'd just press F11 to go full screen. But on mobile, isn't it enough to just scroll down a bit to hide the URL from view?

And on Mac, you can use Ctrl+Cmd+F to get to full screen, which would make it full screen and hide the URL.
On mobile, yeah, all the websites I've used takes away the URL when you scroll down, except the ones that have their status bar at the bottom of the site.

So I sent this question to Google AI: "What is the maximum distance at which a normal human eye can optimally read posts in 12pts fontsize on a mobile screen?"

Here's the outlined answer.
Quote from: Google AI
The maximum distance to optimally read a 12-point font on a mobile screen is 40 cm (16 inches).

OP doesn't actually need any additional browser settings; he just always sits in the corner.
So, if someone is spying on you within 7 inches, they'll either be blocked by your hair, or they'll accidentally kiss you on the cheek.

This fits the Op's situation very well.

If you want better privacy, user Firefox or Firefox-based browsers like Tor browser.
The point here is not KYC or privacy of personal information. Op don't just want people to identify the url he is browsing. He just want to hide bitcointalk url only. Read the op or the threat title and you'll understand better.

This fits the Op's situation very well.

I believe Op is seeking a different type of privacy. If they don't want anyone to know they are into bitcoin, they don't have business opening BTT in a crowded room. It seems he just don't want people to know bitcointalk url unless someone he personally wants to expose it to.

For privacy reason, I would rather not have my username and avatar displaying publicly, so I prefer to only log into the forum when I'm at home or when I'm in a place I can have privacy of using my phone or I use the code of TryNinja to hide it. I think it's more important to hide username and avatar than the URL, because what if you hide the URL and then you are around someone who is already familiar with the Bitcointalk forum? It means they will still see your username and then would know your real identity behind the username they have been seeing on the forum for long. Although you can use a privacy screen protector as someone has recommended but I will only use that on phone and not laptop.

I just heard that browser, does it have built in adblocker, plugins/extension supported too? Also, is the url bar still hidden after you scroll down or up?

Actually, i have thought on OP's concern even if the the url bar is hidden the content is not, so a simple search of like on the forum nav "Bitcoin Forum" will have an idea on what site/forum is OP is using. Just a thought.
The Hermit browser allows you to create standalone apps and it has a built in ad blocker too. I believe it supports user scripts but not extensions, although I haven't used any user scripts myself on it.

The URL bar stays hidden even if you screen down or up when you enable that frame less option in it.

Yes, that's a valid point you got but I believe hiding that "Bitcoin Forum"is also possible with a user script.
