How do you respond to people who say this or think this way about gambling?

I can see why people think that way  but in my experience  it all depends on the individual. Gambling can wreck a family just like any other addiction  but not everyone who walks into a casino leaves hooked or spinning out of control. After all  you could drink without becoming an alcoholic  or spend money on hobbies that do not have anything to do with winning or losing because that’s what it is  a good time. So long as you are aware of that  and only risk what you can afford to lose also u have knowledge about your psychology thinking and nature  then gambling is not much different from anything else. Gambling is not harmless  of course  but the more discipline you apply to your gambling habits  the less likely you are to let your emotions get out of control and the less likely it is to affect you in ways that have nothing to do with gambling itself.

There is no need to explain anything to the person if he is an outsider because I actually owe an outsider no explanation about the way I live my life. If it is a family member I would ask him or her to tell me what feels unpeaceful in my life right now that she thinks is caused by gambling and if they can point out any, I'll surely look into it so as to help with convincing the person to have  a positive one, but if they cannot, I will calmly explain to them that having problems due to gambling is more of how we choose to engage in it which in turn determines it's impact on us and that gambling is only a form of recreation to me and nothing else.

I don't know how it is in other countries and from my perspective. A gambler in my area is always a gambler and everyone would see you as one. I usually just ignore them. But if they keep on telling the same thing over and over, then I think it's time to get it straight.

I probably start with how easy it can be to be a responsible gambler if one is just betting on sports. If there's only one sport that a gambler has knowledge of, then he will probably just stick to betting on those games. I have lots of friends who do the same. Just betting on basketball games because that's their favorite sport, and we have been following it since we were kids. It's easy for us to understand how the game works, and we already have our own analysis on which team might win the game.
Some just gamble on big events. Playoffs and the Finals. They do follow the whole season, but they never place bets.

Maybe in that way, one can understand that it's on us if we get addicted to it. It just means we cannot handle it mentally.

For me, I think it depends on the person. If they are just concerned about me, I would probably explain my side calmly. I would tell them that I understand why they think that way, because gambling has ruined many people’s lives. But at the same time, not everyone who gambles is destroying their life.

Some people gamble for fun, with limits, and without using money meant for important things. But if the person is already closed-minded and only wants to judge, then maybe there is no need to argue. Sometimes it is better to let your actions prove that you are still in control.

This perception of gambling to some people it has become like a rule and that who ever gambles falls into that specification but the truth remains that every one can not have the mind set and the same reason for doing a thing. I can be gambling out of gambling addiction and the next person out fun and so on buy the truth remains that everyone must not have the same reason for gambling. I think of some one thinks otherwise of your gambling life you should first check your self and ensure that you probably have not switched to being addicted and when you are sure then you now talk the person into believing or knowing what you know about your gambling life.

Those that believe that every gambler is addicted, are not actually gamblers, and to them all gambers are irresponsible, I know many persons that think exactly like this, I have some people I have discussed things like this with in details, I told them that there many responsible gamblers, they said there's no such thing anywhere, i now use a simple instance for them, which is when someone is gambling with what he can afford to lose with budgets for gambling, maybe daily, weekly or monthly without refiling his account when the deposited amount has been exhausted before the budgeted time frame how can we categorize such persons, they said responsible gamblers, then I tell them that such people exist and they are very disciplined gamblers that doesn't chase loss.

Exactly, and no matter how good you are or how bad you are, not everyone will like you likewise not everyone will also hate you. Sometimes its best to ignore people and allow them to say anything that comes out from their mouth, as far as they are not feeding you and you know that, the best answer to a fool is silent and keeping them silent is the best way to conquer them, as this its not a sign of weakness but it shows that you value your peace of mind so much, as the best thing for you to do.

I guess you are right, I should learn how not to care too much about other people’s opinion. After all, when we gamble, it is our money at risk, not theirs. They can comment as much as they want, who cares right? At least we know that gambling is really entertaining, but it is not for people who are afraid of taking risks and only good at making judgments.

All this is because everyone has their own worries, and no one will waste time on in-depth study of issues if it concerns these people only indirectly. I don't have to respond, and I choose to ignore; their opinion is irrelevant to me, it's my money and my satisfaction if I allow

I have had so many experience in gambling and when someone is concerned or talked about it I will explain to the person about my experience and reality about gambling but what I won't do is trying to sugar quote in order to make the person believe what I'm actually saying because it's your choice to believe me or not I won't force or make you to believe me. People always have something to say on things he don't understand, this is why your suggestion is goon on which better ignore them. Because somehow they will not bring anything good to us especially if we buy all those negative statements thrown to us.

Much better to continue their current action especially their gambling activities, if they know that they are not doing wrong and also not affecting other people.  But much really better to follow that suggestion which is to gamble moderately since if those people find out that they are still doing fine despite of their participation in gambling. Those negative statements will slowly fades out.

There are some gamblers that are still responsible because they know what they are capable of doing, and they know when to stop and when to gamble just like what you said, unlike some gamblers that can't control their minds and because of their inability to control their emotions, they don't have the time to do other things, as they spend all their time in gambling and this is not good in their health and their plans will also be terminated.

Sincerely speaking, I owe no explanation. If they they dont understand what it means to gamble responsibly, then they dont deserve to talk to me about peace. Most of them have problems they can fix in their lives. Some are humanizers, drinkers, smokers, or are addicted to things they spend uncontrollably on. Yet they think since im gambling, I have no peace. My intention and discipline in gambling are totally different from what they have in mind.
