Bitcoin-backed loans are platforms that offer loans, and customers use their Bitcoin holdings as collateral to take out a loan. As a Bitcoin investor, what do you think about this? Can you comfortably use your Bitcoin as collateral for a loan? People do this because they do not want to sell their Bitcoin, especially during a financial crisis. The reason they choose not to sell is b3cause they believe in Bitcoin and knowing holding it will increase its value.

Now, people who use their Bitcoin as collateral understand the value of Bitcoin but don't fully comprehend the risks of giving it out as collateral. I think one of the policies of loaning platforms, if one is unable to pay back the loan and the Bitcoin price dips, causing your Bitcoin value to decrease more than the loan amount, they will sell your Bitcoin to avoid losses.

I'm surprised how  people are willing to give away their Bitcoin, which is so valuable, to platforms that don't even believe in Bitcoin because they see Bitcoin's volatility as a risk.

Of course, Bitcoin-backed loans would be one of the most enjoyable types of adoption. Of course, it's cool that one friend can give another friend such a loan, even if they are on different sides of the planet and no bank or tax service finds out about it. But the only aspect is that they should immediately negotiate the terms of such a loan, namely this condition: that the guy who was given the loan will give the loan in the dollar value of the loan given to him at the time of debt issuance, or the equivalent will remain at the price of Bitcoin.

What you've mentioned is the right way of getting loan. Bitcoin as collateral is really a hard thing for several reasons, because bitcoin moving from the loan receiver to the loan issuer gives complete control of the bitcoin to the loan issuer. Here things can be on trust or some sort of intermediary needs to be added. This means once again we are relying on centralized system. based on the worth of the collateral at the time of loan equivalent amount will be paid. So, when an intermediary enters between the receiver and issuer there will be taxation and legal documentation without which it favour receiver or the issuer.

That's true, I've seen platforms like CoinRabbit offer services like this before, all you may need to do if you're interested to participate in offers like this is to go through heir platform and get the necessary information about their terms and conditions, if they are ok by you, then you can proceed further, many people are having impression on using services like this if found genuine.

As a Bitcoin investor, what do you think about this? Can you comfortably use your Bitcoin as collateral for a loan?

My decision may not be the same as your own when it comes to things like this, because we all have different opinions to services like this, but once the condition that is involved is being well considered, are you weigh in the options of their terms being ok by you, it could definitely help out and I can do it as well.

You're guilt tripping me. I've thought of this last year if I should sell or I'll take loan but guess what? I've chosen to sell those that I've held for a long time and that didn't regret. It's actually being considered to take a loan and use platforms like coinbase which is part of my plan but, I don't want to dealt into the idea that I've got some loans and have to pay it while my btc is being collateral on them. I chosen the harder part but at least my mind is clear and I'll continue to DCA and it doesn't have to be having some interest on top of what I'll try to accumulate. I chosen what I think is better for my situation.

Actually I dont know how these platforms works, if they demand for private keys. .

In this forum if one is to have his BTC as collateral, he doesn't need to send his BTC private key to the lender but send the BTC to the address of the lender. Then it will sit there until the loan is paid.  Some lenders sell the BTC if the price plummets to a certain threshold.  But if all is ok and the loan is fully paid, the BTC is then sent back to the owner with the transaction fee shouldered by the owner.

Quote
But from research it seems if one is unable to pay loan, they can sell out your asset to get back their money

Isn't this the function of a collateral?  Obviously, if one can't pay, the collateral will then get liquidated.
