Does sMerit actually Decay?

There is an exception when it comes to merit sources. Theymos allocates each merit sources certain amount of sMerits every month, for them to distribute throughout the month. Now if I understand correctly, if left unused, the sMerits will get a reset after the month is over. But we aren't talking about that here.

In my own thought there is nothing like resetting after a month is over, it is obtainable that after a 30 day period from the time a source sends a particular merit from his source balance, the used merits are refilled. I've read somewhere that it is an automatic process to refill for used ones after 30 days and the unused one remains there until used before the countdown for its refill starts. It is only that their max source sendables for a month is capped at their allocated amounts. A source can correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe I don't know! I'm not a merit source, nor I have much knowledge on this, nor I have joined in much discussion on this. I wasn't on this forum when merit was first introduced. Aside for it's technical side, all I know is that whether you spend your source merits or not, it goes back to the allocated amount at the end of each month. This is how I thought it was..

Unused merits for merit sources will decay. That means if you have 100 source merits and you spent only 50 merits on the monthly cycle, that means the remaining 50 merits will decay. Next month you will get only your allocation of 100 merits. I don't know when exactly refill decayed merits will be added, but your remaining merits won't be added to your source merits for the next month.

However, for general users, it will not decay for now. But the forum has the full right to decay or remove your merits anytime they want, and it's clearly stated on the merit page. So you shouldn't be confused about merits decay.

Next month you will get only your allocation of 100 merits. I don't know when exactly refill decayed merits will be added, but your remaining merits won't be added to your source merits for the next month.

If all source merits are not used in 30 days, all of them will be decayed and new source merits will be refilled, it's the easiest case for understanding about source merit decay and refill.

I am not a merit source, but through posts of some merit sources when they wanted to merit a post but no longer had merit, they wrote like they had to wait for some days before their source merit refill that I think only partial refill, not like 30-day source merit refill. So I guess the source merit refill will be do day by day, not like waiting exactly 30 days for a refill.

Like if you send 10 merit today, next 30 days that 10 merit will be refilled.

I don't know when exactly refill decayed merits will be added, but your remaining merits won't be added to your source merits for the next month.

Each source merit you spend will come back after 30 days.
For example, if you spend 5 source merit right now, you will receive 5 source merit exactly 30 days later.

But the forum has the full right to decay or remove your merits anytime they want, and it's clearly stated on the merit page. So you shouldn't be confused about merits decay.
