Gooooood mooorning Bitcointalk!

After my hit single Cheesy, Scroll Back, I had mentioned an extended version I was working on. I got a little sidetracked with "Open the pages", which I just had an urge to create (unrelated to Bitcoin/Bitcointalk), but I have now finished 2 extended versions of Scroll Back.

I started with the punk rock cut, but then felt like blues/folk rock would be an interesting way to tell the story, plus I'm a sucker for harmonicas. (thanks to John Popper!)

There is so much history with Bitcoin and Bitcointalk, that it was still hard to get everything I wanted in here... but I tried to fit as much as I could without making the song drag on too much, and I think I captured quite a bit. The lyrics shift a bit between these versions, to fit better with each genre, but the story is essentially the same.

Hope you all enjoy.

Lyrics:
Code:
Scroll back.
Check the thread.
Bitcointalk remembers.

Mailing list, crypto crowd,
Whitepaper posted, small but loud,
Peer to peer, no bank gates,
Code and consensus led the way.

Early threads asked how this works,
Game theory, risks, incentives, quirks,
Questions fired, answers weighed,
Ideas sharpened, not delayed.

Satoshi spoke, replied in kind,
Stepped back, left code behind,
No leader push, no final say,
Just open talk that found its way.

Scroll back.
Check the thread.
Bitcointalk remembers.
Check the thread.

Home mining, laptops hum,
Blocks kept coming, one by one,
Pizza bought, 10K spent,
Use came first - not profit.

Graphics cards, custom rigs,
ASIC miners growing big,
Infrastructure built in posts,
Lessons learned from wins and ghosts.

Mt. Gox rises. Mt. Gox falls.
Not the first time. Not the last.
Hard lessons came to pass.

Not your keys, not your coins.

Trust was built deal by deal,
Escrow threads made risk feel real,
Reputation earned, not claimed,
Names remembered, trades explained.

ICOs burst in flames,
Same old code with different names,
Some stayed true, most played games,
Hype burned out, then exits came.

Long posts mattered, depth survived,
Claims questioned, then verified,
Posts got edited over time,
Quotes and archives held the line.

Context formed from back and forth,
Not one quote pulled out of course,
Meaning lived in full replies,
Debates laid out side by side.

Scaling fights, endless pages,
Years of words on public stages,
Big blocks pushed, small blocks held,
Tradeoffs argued, tempers swelled.

Hostile forks pushed into fame,
Different camps all fought to gain,
FUD and lawsuits framed the fight,
Faketoshi stepped into light.

SegWit locked after strain,
Rough consensus held the chain,
No clean path and nothing fast,
Just systems built to last.

Years went by, new tools appeared,
Patterns mapped from forum years,
Search the past and check what’s true,
Archived words still leave their proof.

BPIP tracked the names and dates,
Trust and history carried weight,
LoyceV kept vanished posts,
Snapshots saved what mattered most.

Ninjastic searched the forum’s trail,
BitList helped preserve the tale,
Edits fade but traces stay,
Old receipts still light the way.

Now it’s bigger, now it’s loud,
More attention, thicker crowd,
Paid forum ads flood replies,
Post counts rise, signal slides.

Good posts still cut right through,
Just takes work to find what’s true.

Same old forum on a larger scale,
But the core ideas... still prevail.

Check the thread. Check the thread.
Bitcointalk remembers.

Lyrics:
Code:
Late night glow from a laptop screen,
Names and numbers few had seen,
A quiet post would change the game,
Nothing in the world the same.

Mailing list, crypto crowd,
Whitepaper dropped, small but loud,
Peer to peer, no bank gates,
Code and consensus set the pace.

Satoshi spoke, replied in posts,
Then disappeared like early ghosts,
No central voice to steer the way,
Just open threads from day to day.

Home mining, laptops hum,
Blocks kept coming one by one,
Pizza bought, 10K spent,
Use came first — not profit.

Graphics cards and custom rigs,
ASIC miners growing big,
Infrastructure built in posts,
Lessons learned from wins and ghosts.

Mount Gox rising, everybody thought it would last.
Mount Gox falling, it collapsed so fast.

Coins frozen on the screen.
A hard lesson inbetween.

Not your keys… Not your coins.

No keys… No coins!

Scroll back,
Check the thread,
Bitcointalk remembers
All that we said.
All that we said, All that we said.

Deals were made in forum threads,
Trust was built on what was said,
Names gained weight as time went on,
Reputation carried on.

ICO fever filled the sky,
Promises soared then drifted by,
Fortunes chased in paper gold,
Empty hands when truth was told.

Bitcoin held while markets rolled,
Forum threads still carried gold.

While the market rose and fell,
New divisions rose as well,
Arguments filled the endless threads,
Long nights lost inside our heads.

Big blocks pushed, small blocks held,
Lines were drawn as tempers swelled.

Forks declared what truth should be,
Different visions fought to lead,
FUD and courts would shape the fight,
Faketoshi claims stepped into light.

SegWit locked, the storm passed by,
Years of tension drifting by,
Not a win and not defeat,
Just the chain back on its feet.

Scroll back,
Check the thread,
Bitcointalk remembers
All that we said.
All that we said, all that we said.

Scaling scars still lingered on,
New debates kept pressing on,
Through the years the words remained,
Lessons learned and trust regained.

Tools emerged as years went by,
Patterns formed beneath the eye,

Archives grew as time went by,
Helping users check what’s right,

BPIP and LoyceV came through,
Ninjastic Space, Bit List too.

Now the crowd is loud and wide,
Signal buried by the tide,
Paid posts filling up replies,
Truth gets harder to recognize.

If you read between the lines,
Truth still echoes through the times.

Same old forum, just a wider scale.

But the core ideas…

Still prevail.
