Are your funds safe with Stake? Absolutely. But that’s not what I’m complaining about. This is a completely different kind of shady behavior.

Why you should think twice before using Stake during the World Cup.

This is based on my personal experience with @Stake and @StakeEddie as a profitable sports bettor.

The moment you consistently win, they start heavily limiting your account to the point where placing serious bets becomes impossible.

But here’s the part I find extremely misleading (the scam):

They don’t clearly show those betting limits before you deposit.

You deposit funds expecting to place sports bets, then suddenly discover your account is restricted to tiny wager sizes. After that, when you try to withdraw your balance, they require you to wager the deposited amount first through their casino products.

So if I deposit $5,000 for sports betting and later realize my account is heavily limited, I’m suddenly expected to play slots or casino games just to unlock my own deposit.

That behavior is incredibly shady in my opinion, especially before one of the biggest betting events in the world.

There are plenty of other casinos and sportsbooks out there. If you’re a serious bettor, be careful where you deposit during the World Cup.

I attached screenshots of the limits they placed on my account. It’s honestly ridiculous.

If I had known about the betting limits, I would never have deposited in the first place. Period.

I don’t play slots, live casino shows, or video games. I deposited specifically for sports betting.

It's your money, and you have the right to gamble with available games or bets. Because people gamble to win, not to lose, if they limit your account during the win, then you definitely have to stop gambling there and move forward to another gambling site.

Have you raised concerns about AskGamblers and Casino Guru? To solve this problem, you can raise allegations there, so they will respond to the allegations. Very rarely nowadays do gambling sites respond to the scam accusation. But definitely your allegation will warn some other users here. Also, this thread will reflect on Google search to warn others.

But come to think of it before you even got limited by the platform from gambling, how often is it possible that we win in gambling not even talk of the world cup that is about to begin, maybe we should be the ones that should be more careful about this platforms and not stick alone but any other casino that we may decided to use for gambling, we should gamble with caution and also avoid any thing that could lead to addiction or taking high risk on bets.

I have also been limited (at basketball in the past). Now I could only wager "big" in leagues like NBA, NCAA or euroleague, but have jokingly low limits (under 10$) anywhere else. No problems with other sports though.

In the beginning I also had a "max bet" button to show you how much you are allowed to wager, which then disappeared. I wonder if new and fresh accounts still have this button?

Anyway, I agree this behavior is questionable but if you are looking for good odds you shouldn't play on stake in the first place I would say. Other sites have way better odds tbh.

What has happened with you was completely unfortunate. All the sportsbooks should allow the users to check the max bet limit before they make a deposit. But Stake isn't the only platform where the max bet is getting limited for continuous winning streak. It happens on all the platforms, and many of them don't allow the user to check the max bet limit without having funds on the account. Users face the worst limitations than you in the sportsbook. I had the experience of getting limited to less than $1 at a sportsbook.

it's not just stake, lots and lots of sportsbooks do this, it's one of the dark patterns that got normalized by the industry as a whole, and it doesn't look like it's going to be changed any time soon unless we see some regulation to stop shit like this.

if this happens to you, you should just play dice on auto with min bet on max win chance, and let it run until you hit 1x wager, doing it this way, you are expected to only lose ~1% to house edge.

True that. If you try/force to get more, even to get a profit from it, it's very likely to fail. While it obviously is very annoying playing dice on 99% is the easiest and fastest way to play through a deposit, Losing at least 50$ of 5k is of course is annoying but it is what it is.
Alternatively one could find the easiest sports game with 1.01 odds and go allin on it. Sports limits mostly only are set for one particular sports where the player found success. So betting anything else shouldn't be a problem. Obviously a 1.01 can also lose but in basketball for example some 1.01 just can't lose.
