I don't see it as a comparison to which one is better, its more about peculiarity because both sport betting and casinos are risky. By peculiarity,  I would choose sports betting over casino and that is by choice because I have more interest in it.

By popular opinion, casinos are seen to be more risky and has no control measure compared to sports betting. Like you mentioned,  there are a few factors that could influence the result of a game that sports betting provide but with the casino its an empty slate.

Not every gambler are familiar with sports betting, and not all gamblers are familiar with casino games too, but I have also come across friends, and other gamblers who see casino games to be more favourable, and profitable to them than sports betting, and that is for those who gamble on both sports betting, and casino.
I am more familiar with sports betting, and don't know much about casino games, and I feel sports betting is more profitable to casino because that is the one I know how to play.
To me, the fact that I can make prediction based on stats, form, and analyze my bet based on these factors gives sports betting an edge over casino games.

I never look at gambling from profitability perspective, IMO it's just wrong view about gambling.

As for bettors doing research/analysis — oddmakers provide odds only after doing thorough research/analysis by themselves, although sometimes you may still find alluring bets for whatever reason and when you see those alluring bets you think, how did they miss that? Agree with you, sport betting as better than casino games because we can learn more from teams statistic, team performance last several matches before and learn more head to head from both team. During the sport betting not any match fixing I believe easily to predict which one team have bigger chance for winning the games if official match not the friendly games due team not playing with full team.
