Apps Converting Bitcoin to Naira.

We have a lot of apps in Nigeria right now that are converting bitcoin to naira instantly and they will credit you to your bank account directly if you want.
I believe a lot of you most have seen some of those apps advertising on Facebook and other social media platforms.
They are okay and I have tried some but they usually have hidden charges that they won’t inform you of at the beginning and again lastly is not all you should use because they are not reliable and trustworthy.

Before you use anyone make sure you.

Ask questions about it and this is one of the reasons why I created this thread you can ask of anyone you wish or plan to use here and someone that has used it will answer you so you don’t fall victim.

I wouldn't even encourage anyone to use any app that they see on social Media or any other platforms to send their Bitcoin because they want to convert their Bitcoin. Then what now happened to Bybit, bitget and other exchange that keeps offering p2p services to us?
If you have fallen victim of any app that converts BTC to NGN then it will be that better to share here so that others could learn from here to know whenever they comes across such apps.

I don't support the use of those applications because majority of them were created by scammers and they will work for a while until they gain some level of trust before they strike. If you must use those apps especially those new ones advertised on social media, ensure you have done your due diligence. I prefer using one of the notable exchanges that allow P2P trade because the chances of losing money there is far less than depositing funds into scammers application.

I understand your point very well, people don't like to take chances with their money when it's time to engage in crypto transactions,  so that is the reason why people just stick to what they are already familiar with instead of taking unnecessary risks. Some of those apps may actually function,  but you will only discover hidden charges and issues after you use them.

At least when you are  trading with a p2p exchange you know what is going on and the ways you can recognize suspicious vendors before even trading. It is easier to prevent errors there when you have experience,  and one thing about social media is that, it can make any app look very legit within minutes,  but it is a good reputation and long term trust that is more important than flashy adverts or promises of instant payment.

OP, you didn't mention the name of any of these apps so that we can know because I don't trust things that I see on FB or social media because that's where scammers uses to lure people into their scam. However, we already have reputable exchanges which you can use to convert your bitcoin to fiat and that's enough for me.

Well I haven’t seen any of these apps advertisement on my feed as far as I can remember, but I don’t know for others. And I also wouldn’t trust apps or things being advertised on Facebook.

The simple truth is that most of these apps that are offering quick converting of bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency to naira are most likely scamming platforms where people's assets are stolen, this is usually obvious from the kind of reviews you will see for them on app stores, reviews that even with the slightest amount of scrutiny will show that there were written solely to trick and ensnare people into using them, most of which are clearly even AI generated.

That's probably how they make their own money.. But it still odd when they make it  hidden and should be codemned of truly what you claim is true..which i don't doubt anyway. They work more like apps lke geegpay[not an advertisement] used it before.. although theirs is in dolllar not crypto but they will likely have similar implementation.

Hence, it's nothing like how the exchanges (centralised and non-centralised works), similar feature will just be swap but they will be taking way more as coversion rate to benefit them.. Anyways it good you also shared this.

I don't really fancy most of them for many reasons. One thing is they are trying to fix a problem that wouldn't exist is P2P flaws were fixed so I'm not very sure a lot of them will stick around long. Apps like these requests for full time KYC data just like most mobile banking apps do.

There is a reason why exchanges has P2P services embedded in them, of which it is for the best and safety of our crypto assets for every one using those exchanges. Using a third party app is not safe if I may say. We know how import safety and account security are vital in the crypto space. In crypto exchanges, we do face scam adds and easily escape it, but with apps like this, they can simply disappear into thin air without a trace. It is simple for foreign countries to easily track down fraudsters and give them due punishment by the government and agencies against such acts, same thing does come easily with us, that is why we need to be more careful about apps like this.

Since the insertion of AI, things like building apps and websites are now easily done with no much technicality and coding skill requirements.

Apart from the popular known crypto exchanges like Bitget, Bybit and Remitano that offers p2p Bitcoin services on its exchange, I'm one individual who hardly trust all these exchanges that are been promoted by our Nigerian content creators that offer buying and selling of Bitcoin. Because if you could look properly, you will notice there was one of these app called "Bilpoint", owned by our young famous influencer B-Lord. And according to research, that app was reported to have scammed and blocked several people who fell victim to trusting his app. And since then, that's why I don't use any of these apps unless it's a global crypto exchange that still offers Naira p2p buying and selling of Bitcoin. Hence, my advice to newbies is to avoid all these apps.

Monica Nigeria is one app that has been in the mouth of so many Nigerians cause it is use to convert BTC, UDDT and others to naira though I haven't made use of the app but if you must use it be sure you read their terms and conditions.

So many of this apps that helps to convert bitcoin into Naira or any cryptocurrency into naira but I haven’t also for once make use of them. I do only come across many of this apps by the internet when many of this content creators or public figures are being paid to advertise this projects online. That the only way I have came across this apps but no one has ever told me about any of them or even mentioned them to me though.
Most times many of this influencers are just trying to make money they don’t even do an research about any project they just advertise for people with the through information of the project so we need to be careful and not to fall for any of this internet advertising.

The problem with this kind of exchange is  no legal separation between the company and the owner. In case of legal issues or defrauding it is harder to get the owner once the vanish or the platform shorts down. When you are dealing with your asset, there is nothing like sentiment that should be attached to it. go for what is reliable and don't try to test things up all because the founder of such wallet is our fellow Nigerian. most of these apps that you get to know them only through their brand ambassadors that are only celebrities are not reputable.

that a celebrity makes an advert about a site does not make it a reputable site. what makes an exchange or a platform that is used to convert bitcoin to fiat a reputable one is when you get positive reviews from users that have been using it for long. through the reviews, you get to read some of their lapses and it then gives you a better knowledge before you even start making use of them.

I will advise anyone that wants to use all those converting app to abort that thought because they will end up messing themselves up, a friend of mine told me about a particular one that he used and they did not send him his money till date they actually scammed him and so I will advise people not to use them we already have where we can do P2P and they are very reliable for example bybit, bitget or MEXC.
This exchange I listed are the ones I use and they are very reliable and trustworthy although there are some traders in this exchanges that will want to scam you but if you are smart they won't succeed.
Just avoid all this apps to avoid had I know.

I have said to myself that I will never use any apps that are being advertised for the sell or purchase of Bitcoin or for conversion purposes reason being that they would be absolutely no way for me to hold anyone accountable when the matter start turn to another thing and besides we have seen similar cases thousands of time in this country of ours and most of the times the matter no dey get head at all to follow up .

I am in total support of what Adbitco said. Apps that convert Bitcoin or crypto to Naira are not licensed or recognized by the Nigerian government, except that they are regulated exchanges, which the government knows fully well. These apps are black market readers and underground P2P vendors. Because they are not licensed, it makes it unsafe for users. It has a high risk and is full of scams. Using it is at your own risk. There is no assurance that the customer support will attend to complain to when things go wrong.
