Any trading we are into under this, giving us positive results, will not be seen as an addiction, but when we are having a perpetual loss in Trading and cannot afford to realize our goal or achieve any success along the line, then everything results in an addiction to trading because there is no positive outcome from what we are doing coming forth.

I think addiction and losses are two different thing.

Someone can lose money and still be in control of their behavior, know when to stop, and accept the loss. You can't call them an addict just because they lost money. On the other hand, even if someone keeps making profit, they can still be addicted if trading takes up most of their time, messes up their life, or they lose control over their behavior.

Addiction is about losing control of your behavior, not about making a profit or incurring a loss.

Re: trading addiction.
I've been trading for around 3 years already, but I guess I can say that I'm fortunate that it didn't come to a point where I got addicted to trading and it affects me and the people around me in a negative way already.

Trading addiction do exists. It's just that some of the traders don't even know that they're addicted into it already. It's like gambling addiction where they don't know that they're addicted into it. The only thing they know is that, they're losing money, and it's already affecting them mentally. If one factor to know that a trader is addicted is when they're already trading based on emotions and not on their strategies then I almost got addicted. There were times back then where I'm trading based off of my emotions and that's because I'm consistently losing money that I forgot to follow my own system. In the end, I lost more money when I trade that way.

---
Addiction is about losing control of your behavior, not about making a profit or incurring a loss.
Losing of control of your behavior you said? It can be applicable on trading.

I'll give a scenario. A trader has lost consecutive times, and it came to a point where emotions are getting into him, and they can't stop themselves from trading, and the only thing that's on their mind is they want to recover the money - the same thing that an addicted gambler will do if they lose significant amount of money. That's a lose of control of their behavior, right?

In trading, it is important for a person to keep these things in mind when to stop, how much risk to take and whether he can follow his plan or not, but if he cannot maintain any limitations on himself, or any kind of stop loss, then he falls into the category of addiction.

Before we start trading, its very important to understand the underlying risks associated with trading. Trading looks cool on social media videos but in real life its a risky stuff that can wipe your entire investment in blink of an eye. Thats why its important to plan out how to proceed with trading in advance because it becomes difficult to save your money in trading if you don't have any strategy. Self control is very important as it stops you from further trading in case you are constantly losing money.

This part is what most people fails to understand before jumping into trading and are ending up bad, the social media would also want to make it look very easy to the eyes, like trading $100 to get $1000 in just 7 days which the videos never show the 10 blown accounts behind the story… and most people having such a mindset to make $1000 bucks in 7 days… I'm just so sad that most newbies would skip and ignore the real risks just because they feel there is always a shortcut for everything….trading is more of an investment that needs total focus such as a risk plan, trading plan, and applying self-control rules…

Short term trading isn't bad at all if you're profitable. It only becomes bad when the trader himself doesn't get profit at most doing it.
I agree with you.
People make assumptions because of lack of results,
Trading is very hard and as a result not much trader's are profitable, but if trading was easy and lots of traders are profitable the whole story of talking against trading will change.

But the Individuals that are making money trough it knows how they feel about it.

My question is, how many people are making money from short term trading? If we are being honest here, most end up with only one outcome, which is losses and more losses. The number of people who make profits solely from trading can be counted on one hand.

Trading is often portrayed as glamorous, with high profit and the potential for quick riches, but the reality behind it is quite different. To put it bluntly, short term trading is more like a trap than a strategy, a sustainable path to making money.

Absolutely true. Short term trading often sounds easy and can generate daily profits. But in reality we can't escape the reality that is very different. Most short term traders experience losses, and only a small percentage actually achieve consistent and sustainable profits, as the rest mostly lose, especially when trading altcoins.

Short-term trading can even become addictive. Because short-term trading can lead to overtrading even being unable to stop even after significant losses. You may even be willing to sit for hours in front of the charts, constantly checking your phone and even neglecting work and health. So, it can be said that short term trading, if you can't manage your emotions well is very susceptible to addiction. This is not just an addiction, but has psychological underpinnings similar to gambling.
Risks need to be considered in short-term trading. Uncontrolled and emotional trading behavior is very similar to gambling behavior. Short-term trading may seem attractive from the outside because it offers the opportunity to make quick profits. But it is not possible to make a profit on every trade. It is very difficult to predict the market consistently. A trader may become overconfident after a few profitable trades, and after a big loss, he may trade more in an attempt to recover the loss. Trying to recover losses after losses, repeatedly looking at charts, constantly looking for new trading opportunities, and exceeding his own limits can lead a person to lose control. Then trading no longer depends on planned financial decisions but on excitement and the desire to recover losses. The problem is when a person fails to control his risk, emotions, and behavior. For a person who cannot stop himself after a loss, trading risks can affect not only his finances but also his mental and daily life.

There are more addicted traders than addicted bettors and this is because of simplicity and complexity of each but they both share many things in common which makes both to be gambling of different kind. As much as betting addiction is consign, it has caused similar financial breakdown like trading has caused, it just depends on the bettor.
Quite alright, there are losses in trading just as it's in every other type of business. There's no business without a loss. However, for the fact that there are losses in trading as we've it also in gambling doesn't make trading or any other form of business gambling. The simplest way you can distinguish trading from gambling in order to get confused around the subject matter is to look at what's exchanged for the other. Trading involves exchange of an asset/pair for fiat. That's, we buy one to sell the other. What's exchanged in gambling?

As much as betting addiction is consign, it has caused similar financial breakdown like trading has caused, it just depends on the bettor. Some addicted bettors has sold even inheritance, personal properties and other people belongings they could have access to just to place a bet. To make it short and general, many has lost a lot of fortune as addicted bettor.
How did you come about this statistics of yours, perhaps I will appreciate it, if you can give us the percentage you arrived at, what I know is that, trading shares some similarities with gambling, yea it can be addictive no doubt, but what I may not be bold to say is how addictive it is, or whether it is more addictive than gambling as you concluded that there are more addicted traders than that of gamblers, because I dont know about that.
But I doubt if thats possible, mate I know how addictive gambling can be, so I don't think trading nears it a bit, may be I'm not right but that's how I feel.

the scariest part about trading addiction, like everyone's saying, is that it usually doesn't look like some wild, obvious frenzy—it often just disguises itself as "hard work." staring at screens 24/7 and telling yourself revenge trading is just deep research, only to slowly watch your whole life and mental state go down the drain. that kind of slow-burn erosion is way harder to catch than regular gambling because you're constantly rationalizing it to yourself. learning how to shut off the screen, step away from the desk, and carve out actual downtime where you don't even look at the charts is basically the only way to keep yourself from going under.

I actually don't think it's that hard to spot when someone is addicted to trading.

The common thing with any addiction, whether it's gambling or trading  is losing control of your behavior.
If you keep trading nonstop, start taking bigger bets to revenge trade, neglect everything around you, and spend most of your time doing it.  You're already showing signs of addiction.

The scary part is that people with a trading addiction often don't realize it or simply refuse to admit it. It is like people who are basically gambling in the market but will never admit it and still convince themselves that they are trading.

Knowing when to take a break is, in my opinion, the smartest thing to do when trading, even if you are not consistently losing money. The majority of traders are unaware of this, so it would be better for us to simply know when to stop so that you don't become a victim of revenge trading. This is because there are people who want to make money by any means, and we should recognize that you won't always make money when you trade, so it would be better to find a way to control your emotions.

There should be a limit to everything because, in reality, not every trader is profitable. This is one thing I am certain of: traders always have things they look up to, and they won't over trade or even engage in revenge trading, so we just need to understand the underlying principles of all of this.

I question we need to ask ourselves is that if these influencers are so much talented then why they are selling that talent for just few bucks? Why they don't utilise that talent to become rich. Trading is not a child's plays and if you don't have self control then you might end up everything you have in trading. This will destroy your mental health, which will lead you to depression and anxiety.

All those influencers are also scamming a lot of people in social media. They bring a lot of things that they cannot do in order to extort some money from people.
It is only those without trading experience and knowledge that will fall for their trap, someone like me cannot fall for such trap.

Just like you said, if they are that good in trading, why can’t they use the experience and knowledge to make there self rich.
This influencers are surviving from the money that people pay them for this kind of things, they have no experience at all in trading and even if they have, they are not good in trading if they are good in trading and they are making profit regularly they won’t even be an influencer.
They will be too busy with trading activity than being an influencer, since they can easily make more money from trading than being an influencer.

They are many of this influencers who called themselves professional traders but they ask for fee from other traders to join their signal groups or control their trading account for them for a week or month then they will take little percentage from them just something like prop firm.
But coming to think of this paying for fee to professional traders and influencers is just like a business to me. Since they sacrifice time and hard work into this trading and reaching where they are right now, they just ask people to pay them so it doesn’t seems like they ain’t making any other benefits aside the trading alone. Like they can’t give out free education to others when they work hard for that thing. So they just sell their knowledge, and render mentoring services and make money. It just business and I think no one is offering free mentorship and not just trading alone but even at school we pay school fee for them to teach us, it just business and I don’t think anyone can offer free mentorship because it just seems like loss.

Social media is a big gateway for newbies to get false narrative about trading, there are lots of contents on social media platforms about how you can make so much money trading in the comfort of your sofa, and there is always a catch where you will click and register for paid tutorials. A lot of newbies would believe that trading is very easy to make money from, when they enter and see the reality after blowing their accounts within a very short time they will become desperate to recover their loses and that is when the real addiction would begin from an early stage. Many newbies gets addicted because they were misled into thinking that trading is easy, unfortunately social media is full of scams where people come to take advantage of the ignorance of others to enrich themselves.

Social media is just a smaller version of society in real life. If we have lazy mindset and want to get rich quickly, we will naturally be attracted to content promising easy profit. These promises existed long before social media. MLMs, pyramid schemes, and investment offer promising unrealistic return have been around for decades. So social media isn't really the problem that we should blame.

If we don't have that get rich quick mindset and understand that making money has never been easy. Its much harder for anyone to scam us.

It's easy to convince people that there is money in trading than to convince them to know that there is a high risk in trading. Sometimes, I don't blame people that find it hard to be convinced about risk in trading, most of them are brainwashed by these influencers that are selling them their dreams and when in fact the money and big boys lifestyles they live is fuel by the extravagant lifestyle they earn from money they make from selling course to people.

As much as there is trading addiction, one difference I have seen from other traders is that they are not as bad as gamblers, but we do have gamblers that are acting as traders. I mean the future traders, those people you will hardly see them do things like normal traders, their risk are the worse you will see a regular traders does. If you see how some of them use futures with leverage, you will know that those people are not traders, they are gambler and perhaps that's why they get addicted.

when in fact the money and big boys lifestyles they live is fuel by the extravagant lifestyle they earn from money they make from selling course to people.
So they are like selling trading classes or signals to members who follow them. The profit from trading may not be clear, but the money gained from members who register for signals is certain. This kind of pattern actually makes traders more similar to gambling. So it is very possible that they become addicted to trading. But which is more serious, gambling addiction or trading addiction? Or are both equally deadly?

It depends on your concept of addiction, alot of us dependant on trading and that's a form of addiction even if we don't accept it as long as it causes financial, physical or emotional harm. Unlike investments, I know alot of people who lose in trading but they keeping grinding in the aim of making back there money, whether we like it or not, even we lose in trading, there is always this emotional pain or the idea that you would make it back, that's a sign if addiction. Unless you can tell me you have 100% successful trade execution.

But the beauty of trading addiction is that we have alot of successful addicts, lol.

People who depend on trading have made it their source of income. So anytime they don’t get benefits from trading, they always feel that pain and will want to try another way out, or change some strategy to get profit on their next move in trading. Anyone that trades always needs profit. And when we don’t get what we need, we will all feel weak. When you become addicted to trading and you’re not getting profits, it will always cause harm. It will continue giving you problems. Trading is very high risk. If you don’t have patience and you haven’t learned how to manage risk, you shouldn’t even go near the market. Because if you don’t understand how it works, the only thing you’ll gain is losing.

You are right that many of us are addicted to trading and nobody wants to admit it. They keep convincing themselves that they're responsible trader and that losses are just part of trading.

However, I dont understand what "successful addict" means. You mean they're addicted but still making money? If so, you're wrong. The people who actually make money from trading can be counted on one hand.
In the end, addiction is addiction, and it never leads to anything good.
