What do you guys think about the price action of ETH? It didn't make an higher high while bitcoin did, and the price of eth is crashing harder then btc. Is it an good buy or will eth slowly die?

I will prefer to buy bitcoin instead. It may not be a single buy, but it can be DCA.

I do not trust altcoins, but I think that ethereum will get to $5000 in the next bull market. Buying it now will be profitable. But I do not see any good hold reason I should buy ethereum when there is bitcoin.

I know ethereum will go above $5000, but I do not know if it will find it hard to go above $500 billion marketcap market.

I don't think that Ethereum will be dead it is just going through a crisis which can be resolved or not, I think that we need to give it more time before we can conclude a total downfall for it, it can recover but I don't expect a speedy one based on all the recent news about it. For investors who are into altcoins I believe that this is a good time to grab as much eth as you can ofcourse with amount that you can easily give away to minimize your risks because you never can tell where it is headed.

If you're not convinced about the potentials of Ethereum to bounce back then better don't buy it because you need to put your money where your mind is, there is always Bitcoin which has a stronger potentials and despite that it is also not bullish now you can buy it and go to sleep with your two eyes closed.

But the dump is growing stronger each day. Eth started it's dump even before Bitcoin join and now we can see that they both are in a continued bearish trend.

It's not dead but buying eth won't be a bad idea, depends on your reasons for buying. I will agree with what other user said, I will rather just buy Bitcoin instead of Eth. I trust Bitcoin to continue it's trend later, but eth is an alt coins the chances will be low.

Whatever choice you do make, you should understand why you are investing in eth or Bitcoin.

But despite of those announcement they made, still both coins running good. But if you think about buying for the purpose of holding it for long term, much better to choose Bitcoin than any other altcoins out there.

Many altcoins across the board made new all time lows today. Ethereum didn't. it may look weak because the whole market is weak but it's relatively strong. fundamentals are as strong as ever too. i don't know how long it will take to bottom out but Ether doesn't look more dead than any other coin except maybe HYPE and a couple others.

Personally I would prefer to buy bitcoin, instead of buying ETH, for sometimes now I have seen how ETH keeps decreasing drastically, I don’t even think that now is the right time to buy any altcoins, because most of the altcoins usually depends on Bitcoin to thrive now that we have a situation where Bitcoin is coming down then ETH usually comes down as well, people who knows what is happening and how the cryptocurrency markets works will definitely know that now isn’t the right time to buy and altcoin, the cryptocurrency market depends on bitcoin to thrive maybe, when bitcoin goes up other altcoins goes up as well, and when bitcoin goes down other cryptocurrencies goes down as well.

Nothing wrong with Ethereum, the TVL is 40 billion and chain rev is still as good as ever, it's certainly far from being considered dead all things considered. There are chains with worse metrics but still valued very high.
When talking about price, just because the chart doesn't move much doesn't necessarily mean it's dead. It's definitely undervalued, but it can go well below current price if Bitcoin is dumping further.

Ethereum did reach a new all time high last year, but it has gone down a lot since then. One of the Bankless co-founders announced that he had sold his Ethereum. Some other notable ETH supporters have gone quiet and are no longer attacking Bitcoin. Ethereum as money has not worked out as many anticipated. I wouldn’t call it dead because it is one of the blockchains with the highest activity. People are using Ethereum’s infrastructure for stablecoins and financial applications; however, most of that value is not captured by the native token of that blockchain.

There are certain privacy improvements that might make for a bullish narrative, but the long term trend is clear. The ETH price won’t see significant appreciation organically. You might see an occasional pump, which will be short lived as long term holders will see it as an exit opportunity.

To conclude, buying ethereum is such a huge mistake. The better to invest directly in Bitcoin instead of ethereum.

I wouldn't put Ethereum amongst the list of coins to buy because the price movement isn't encouraging at all. In the last bull run, Ethereum couldn't record a new ATH as the mother of altcoins whereas, some good altcoins reach a new ATH. Since Ethereum changed from PoW to PoS, it has lost its vibes.

I will advise you to invest in Bitcoin and forget about any altcoins for now because Bitcoin has always been performing well overtime.

It's not possible to say whether this is a good condition to buy Ethereum (ETH) or not, but with its position in the Coinmarketcap ranking, Ethereum (ETH) has the potential to remain one of the leading altcoins. If you think the price is currently low, then buy it, this coin has good price growth potential, even if it is slow. This coin is impossible to die, I can't imagine how the industry would crash if Ethereum (ETH) really died, they have 9,8% in market cap dominance.

It's not dead. If it's dead then we'd see how it will fall from the rank of #2 down to the lowest. That's basically the sign that it's already dying but not for now. And I don't think that it is dying soon even if the price of it keeps on falling down because that's a normal thing to see when we're in a bear market.

I don’t know why some people just want price of coin to be pumping always, whenever there is a decline in a coins price,  or whenever a particular coins price is stable. ETH coin price have been stable for some time, but that doesn’t make it a dead coin. If am going to encourage anyone to invest in a coin, then am going to recommend bitcoin to the person, but if anyone wants to invest in altcoins, if am mentioning coins, then ETH will be in my list which is to tell you that it’s a good coin. We might not see ETH pump so hard for now, but it’s not a bad coin. If you are a fan of Altcoin, then you can add some ETH to your portfolio.

Ethereuem is not dead and as much attention is more on Bitcoin as long term holding, ethereuem is also following behind Bitcoin each time there is a market shift in the cryptocurrency market, ethereuem definitely is considered as th basic foundation of altcoins and so long as we keep getting altcoins season, we can not speculated as such without mentioning ethereuem as most fav among other coins, Bitcoin is King of investment for long term considerations, and one should do that with all sense of risk management to avoid getting in at the wrong market momentum.

Whole altcoin market is stagnating. It's not only ETH that failed to make higher high, others failed too.
Altcoin as a whole have changed and it's nothing more than playing ground for VC to multiply their money even at the expense of the entire market. Can't blame ETH for this.

To be fair, the scenario of ETH dying or disappearing from the market is entirely possible. However, concluding that it is slowly dying because it has not reached a new ATH in this cycle is a hasty and unfounded judgment. It also reveal that we are nothing more than speculators chasing quick profit, not the long term investor we claim to be.

I would not recommend investing in ETH because I'm not a financial expert. However, I agree with you that ETH is still the best altcoin worth investing in, along with BTC.

Compared to Bitcoin's rocket speed Ethereum's performance this season was at bottom. And I agree that many investors moods have been shaken by its turtle-like price action

However calling it a dead or backdated asset is extremely stupid and exaggerated. It is still successfully holding number 2 throne in crypto market. Its TVL is still the highest among all the smart contract platform. If I recall correctly it may be 40+ billion dollar. And the entire stablecoin and DeFi market is still standing on its shoulders. Before this many popular and expensive altcoin were claimed dead but later they made a comeback with a hard bite
