While having money does make life easier, it is not the source of happiness. In fact, it is dangerous to think of it as the source of happiness because the life-long quest for money has left many rich people lonely, unfullfilled, childless and miserable in their lives.

Happiness is very subjective and mostly a state of mind.

Look at a child. For a child happiness is playing in the dirt. An adult would never find happiness in such a way.

Happiness comes from the inside.

That is the source of problems you need to focus on, not the happiness. Meaning, someone with a pancreatic cancer, could have 100 dollars or 100 billion dollars, and he will be unhappy, hell I would still rather be rich in that case because I would be getting treatment from the best doctors in the world, I could literally fly my private jet to best doctors in the world and get treatment, so rich helps even in that situation, even though you will most likely just end up dead.

HOWEVER, if you are a normal healthy person, just ordinary, then yeah money is source of happiness. Assume that you have no reason to be unhappy, you are healthy, all the loved ones are happy, everyone is healthy, which one would you assume is happier, the dude with 1000 dollar salary per month, or the dude with 1 million?

I had a very close friend with whom I spent my childhood. Their financial condition was not good. That friend's old disabled father used to beg for money from people and fulfill family basic needs. They did not have their own place and built a small house in someone else's place and lived with 4 children.

With time, everything started changing and that friend could not study due to lack of money and took responsibility for the family at a young age and at one stage he borrowed money and went abroad and gradually the family's condition improved and he also took one of his younger brothers with him and started a business abroad and became the owner of a lot of money. For several years they did not lack anything, but their father is no longer alive in this world and now only their mother is alive.

The purpose of telling this real story is that in the context of the conversation, I often talk to that friend on the phone but he never forgot those colorful days of his childhood. Regardless of age I think money will remain one of the things that can not be separated for now because at this time maybe for children who are born from enough families they do not think about it but when we go to the suburbs or slums we will find a lot even for children whose age is still in the golden age vying for money in order to get food.

A fact that we cannot argue with is that when we live we cannot do things according to what we think because sometimes life is not that easy.

I think many people have that kind of situation in life and they are enjoying their life and they know that it will end one day. Many people are poor and they are happy with their life because that are grateful to the God which they got from God and many people are not grateful in life. The literal meaning of enjoying life before it melts away is to encourage reckless living. I have seen my father since childhood who did not use the full amount of funds he had in his business and did not indulge in luxury despite having wealth because he always said "When you have wealth, cherish it and when you go somewhere, be careful to reach home during the day". I still follow that advice and do not indulge in luxury even though I have funds available because I have to prepare for the uncertain future. If you spend money on luxury by giving extra priority to the present, if you live, you may have to live in poverty in the future.

Life isn't a bed of roses, but surely eating it rarely makes it tastier? That's why I'm all for realism and accepting that life is complicated. Yes, wealth is like a hand of cards in poker. Everyone's hand is different, and some have crappy ones, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play. After all, what happens next depends entirely on you. That's why I rarely play computer games. Money buys everything but money is not everything.

It's important to have money to afford the basic needs for survival and comfort but that might be a different case for someone who has all the money in the world. Most rich men would cherish simplicity and peace after acquiring all the wealth, but that would be a different case for a poor man.

Above all, gain happiness and every other thing becomes invisible. Some people would always make the best out of every moment, whether good or bad and that should be what matters the most because one could still remain empty even after acquiring all the wealth in the world. Sometimes I find it difficult to understand life, but your statement of saying that you just have to do what you can do to avoid being poor, I hope that doesn’t include involving yourself in anything that has to do with crime, because there are so many people enjoying life in an illegal way, committing one crime or the other just to enjoy life, life itself is a mystery, people are trying to work hard, and there are also people who aren’t working hard or making efforts to have a better life, life is opportunities, but the obvious truth is that not everyone is going to enjoy life, we would always have poor people, and we would alway have rich people, but you just have to try and live by your own means and standards of survival.

Not everyone is going to own a house, not everyone is going to own a car, but you can still enjoy life by being comfortable with what you can afford for yourself, you don’t even need to have a luxurious lifestyle before you enjoy and stay happy, peace of mind and happiness is essential, just try your possible best to live a happy and healthy lifestyle.
