The reason insecurity still persists in Nigeria is the lack of empathy among citizens. Everyone tends to mind their own business as long as an issue does not directly affect their family members. If, from the very beginning when banditry started, everyone had stood up strongly; both physically and on social media.I believe it would not have worsened to this extent.
If we had raised our voices together, things might be different today. Even in the Senate, when a senator raises security concerns, it is often only those from affected states who speak passionately, while others remain silent instead of contributing ideas or solutions.
Empathy means feeling what others feel. It means understanding someone’s pain and being moved to act. It means saying, “Your problem is my problem,” and refusing to stay quiet until a solution is found.
Without empathy, there can be no real solutions. Without solutions, we cannot move forward and prosper
As long as there is no love and no empathy, leaders elected by the people may not truly care.
I believe that if the child of a senator, a family member of the Vice President, or the only son of a state governor were kidnapped, they would better understand the pain and urgency of the situation. But unfortunately, it is mostly ordinary citizens who are affected.
This is why solution has not or insecurity has not be solved totally.
God created us to live together for a reason, but we have abused that purpose of unity and coexistence.
When bandits were kidnapping people in the North, many others did not care. But now that it has spread to other parts of the country, people are beginning to understand what it truly means to pay millions in ransom.
It should not matter whether those affected are Hausa, Nupe, Ebira, Igbo, Yoruba, or any other group. We are one people, and we must rise together against insecurity.
Until we begin to see one another as one and show genuine concern beyond our immediate circles, this problem will continue to grow.

First of all, Nigerians are docile. Adjusting to hardship continuously. The leaders are seeing this and taking advantage of it each and every time. We as Nigerians lack one voice. We are still after tribalism even after seeing constantly that it doesn't pay. We still want our trbal man. Tribal man enter office and all he cares about is his stomach and nothing else concerns him. I want to be proud 🥲 to be a Nigerian but at the same time regret it. There's just this inner hatred growing inside me and I want to point it out to solve Nigerians problem. The only thing I think we can do is to first change ourselves within. If we begin to care for one another, I bet you things will change. I heard of a story of how a black American lady refused oppression from white men inside a bus in the 1990's. And she was sent out of the bus. All black American saw this and decided to not enter bus again and walked to walk everyday for almost a year before the government intervened. From my story what we lack is oneness. Case closed.

That's right because every problem or crisis is very easy to stop or settle during the time it has not matured since they were not strong and those backing them may also have not gotten the channel they might have gotten now but unfortunately this country is not in unity and there is no love between them that's why problem started very small and become worst for any Nigerian to stop but now even if everybody come in mass for this insecurity the government will just give an excuse because right now they have gotten so many ways to lie about this insecurity, it was from last year I saw Nigerians more concerned for everyone than before.

As for the problem of Nigeria right now i will say i am completely confused and can't tell if we should see insecurity as the major problem of the country or corruption because all are serious in Nigeria now. The insecurity challenge we are talking about is what I strongly believe is engineered by corruption, the corrupt political representatives in Nigeria are the once responsible for the insecurity challenge of Nigeria if not the Nigeria i know has all it takes to overcome the insecurity challenge of the country

Talking about empathy, none of the politicians has empathy or interest of the people at heart they are just there for their selfish interest and not service to the people, I think the reason why this insecurity is persistent is because the government hasn't made any moves to end it, because it looks as if they are the ones sponsoring it, the level of kidnapping and killings is on the high increase every blessed day and we are all scared for our lives as we don't know the next place that will be attacked yet the government is silent on the issue of insecurity. It is with no doubts that every country has it's challenges but the biggest concern is how the government tackles it to restore peace calls for attention. Human lives no longer matter to the leaders and that's why they seat back and watch people die, insurgency will continue to persist because our president Tinubu is incompetent and can't lead us and needs to be voted out in the next election year.

Exactly, I feel corruption in Nigeria has taken the order of the day , which has led to so many things and it include the insecurity, whereas some politicians want bad boys so they can fight for them during election , them after election they began to act otherwise, they can’t kill or expose them because they know things we don’t know , the level of corruption in this country is not something that can be tackled instantly, it’s going to be a gradual process because so many things has gone wrong already.

The government make things hard for the citizens and that is why they don't have empathy and sympathy of what is happening again. And the Nigerian Police and the military caused everything. Because wen di citizens go protest na dem go still short di innocent people, so let dem do their work now. As for me, di whole problem of Nigeria na di military caused am. Because I strongly believed that di citizens can change di government to good one by revolution protest against di government officials.

I think the reason why terrorism wouldn't end especially in the north is because both the federal government and the Northern states governors are complicit in terrorism. The northern state governors are pretending as if they don't have hands in what is going on in the North, if your begin asking questions about how these terrorists are getting their weapons, you will agree with me that they are been sponsored by the governments. The kind of weapons these terrorists used for operations are military grade and some of our military officers have not used such weapons before. so the questions is, how did they lay hands on this weapons? Another interesting facts why terrorists is conquering the north is because they have senior brothers in government because out of the current 19 governors in the north, 10 are core fulanis by tribe. I think this fulanis governors are backing bandits to conquer the north. The only solutions for Nigerians is to defend themselves and stop waiting for the government.

The overall development in Nigeria is being hampered by the impact of corruption. One of the multifaceted effects of corruption is poverty. If the people of the country are poor, they will be mentally unstable and it is not impossible for them to commit any criminal act. If I say that this insecurity in the country has been deliberately created by politicians, it will be fair because the reasons responsible for the deterioration of law and order are the creation of the government. The people of my country have the capacity to overcome this challenge all they have to do is unite and protest against all injustice.

You are absolutely right, the insecurity in Nigeria is becoming more alarming and the people fail to resist. Some people are isolating themselves as a result of greediness and selfishness. We have to maintain our selflessness and stand our ground to ensure our safety and build a strong security agencies. We have to make sure that we live in unity, hormone, and peace in order to ensure progress. As a country, we suppose to share a strong and unbreakable bond, and we should always support each other, this is what we called humanity. United we stand, and separated we fall.
For the growth and development of our country, For the peace and happiness of the citizens, And for the progress and safety of citizens (including men, women, youths, aged and children) we have to say "NO TO Racism, Discrimination, RELIGIOUS Prejudice AND TRIBALISM". For us to serve justices, we have to ensure equality, no one is superior and no one is inferior, we shouldn't differentiate between the rich and the poor, and most importantly create a comfort zone for the individuals who has disabilities. Respecting one another and stand as one will enable us make a better Nigeria. But greediness and selfish interest will not allow us to live as one. The insecurity needs to be address in order to protect our children and secure a better future for them. A lot of children are dying, leaving their dreams unfulfilled.

I think you are very correct on what you just pointed out as the main reason why we are still suffering this insecurities in Nigeria. Empathy is really important in stopping this insecurities issues in the country, but most people really don't javelin it and they don't care as long as it's not affecting them directly, which I think it's really bad, because we are all human and also from the same nation. I think one way to stop this insecurities issues is for us to love one another and also try to watch out for each other and try to understand the pains other people are going through. The politicians knows how divided we are as citizens and they are using it to their advantage. Like I have always told my friends, for this country to be better, we need to first learn to identify as a Nigerian, before tribes, then we can begin to talk about a better Nigeria.

But what if I say seeing ourselves as one and showing genuine concern to issues is not the only and perfect solution if those in power fail to always take proactive measures when issues like this is been broadcasted to the public. Because over the years, it's been obvious that our government pay deaf ears whenever an issue about insecurity is been projected to the public. And this singular act made the bandit to be more stronger and stronger, followed by the rumor that some people in politics are the head of this bandits organizations. Because we citizens can only play a small role in ensuring our communities are safe. Because since government have failed to legalize the use of guns by citizens, then if all armed forces like the Army, Navy and Air Force were to work effectively whenever issues about kidnapping were raised to eradicate them, then the rate at which these Bandits operate would have been limited.

If they want to stop the insecurity today, our government know how to do am, just that them d use this insecurity problem of a thing to cash out big time. But na God go judge them for all the lives them don kill so. They and their families no go escape the wrath of God and revolution wey go happen. That their security wey dem think sae them get, go disappointed them someday and them go feel the pain and agony the masses d feel. Make them continue to d do as they like, but a day of reckoning is coming, they won't escape it.

The reason insecurity still persists in Nigeria is the lack of empathy among citizens. Everyone tends to mind their own business as long as an issue does not directly affect their family members.

Until we begin to see one another as one and show genuine concern beyond our immediate circles, this problem will continue to grow.
Insecurity persists in Nigeria because it is driven by several interconnected problems rather than a single cause. Different people emphasize different factors, but many analysts point to the following: 1. Poverty and Unemployment A large number of young people face limited economic opportunities. When people struggle to find legitimate sources of income, some become vulnerable to recruitment by criminal gangs, insurgent groups, kidnappers, or militant organizations. 2. Weak Institutions and Governance Challenges Security problems are harder to solve when government institutions lack resources, coordination, accountability, or public trust. Corruption can also weaken security efforts by diverting funds, undermining enforcement, or allowing criminal networks to operate. 3. Ethnic, Religious, and Communal Tensions Some conflicts arise from competition over land, political influence, resources, or historical grievances. While many communities coexist peacefully, localized disputes can escalate into violence when not effectively managed. 4. Insurgency and Terrorism Groups such as Boko Haram and its splinter factions have destabilized parts of northeastern Nigeria for years. Their activities have displaced millions of people and stretched security resources. 5. Porous Borders and Arms Proliferation Nigeria shares long land borders with several neighboring countries. Illegal movement of weapons, fighters, and contraband can make it more difficult to contain armed groups. 6. Farmer–Herder Conflicts In some regions, competition over grazing routes, farmland, and water resources has intensified. Population growth, environmental pressures, and climate variability can increase tensions between communities. 7. Slow Justice System When crimes are not investigated efficiently or offenders are rarely prosecuted, criminals may feel emboldened. A perception of impunity can contribute to continued insecurity. 8. Political Factors Security issues can sometimes be influenced by political competition, local power struggles, and disputes over resource allocation. In some cases, politicians have been accused of empowering armed groups that later become difficult to control

I watch one video this morning of one Nigerian lady way dey based for Canada, she say come Nigeria last with tech solution to kidnapping, she pitch am to some state politicians she connect with and all of them turn her down say no be something way the state dey willing to invest in right now. I come dey ask myself say if no be security, wetin dey more important way states way dey in crisis actually need. The truth of the matter be say politicians no want make crime end for Nigeria, them dey use am as tool to control the masses.
Okay make I add wetin your president talk the last time and wetin social media don change am too“ this where his words….could not find a link to this… That “pray for terrorists and bandits to repent” line is blowing up because people didn’t expect that from a security briefing.
Nigerians are tired of attacks, so hearing “pray for them to repent” instead of “we’ll crush them” felt soft to a lot of people. Memes everywhere - “prayer is the new security strategy”
The other side people are saying: Some are defending it like “prayer + action can work together” and pointing to the part where he promised more equipment, intelligence, and told citizens to give intel. They say he didn’t say “only pray”.Like ehhh when prayers don trun weapon for this country or wetin conscience Bandit with prayers…like a chief of Army personnel…like this so worth not saying for a president who is supposed to clam the people down not saying this tash what a president we have sah…

What a country we think we are leaving in, honestly this country need God to help us that just real life story…
If it's just about God helping us, then I'm sorry to say, it goes far beyond that. I can go on to quote so many part of the holy scriptures, but I prefer to stick with Amos 3:3 - “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?". We all can attest to the fact that our major problem comes from the politicians and their corrupt practices, but why are we as citizens failing to rebel and stand against this government?. It has gotten to the point where they start toying with people's life, but we're still yet to agree for a change. How do you expect God to help someone who's consciously supporting this terrible government?.... Like, people consciously try to prove that this government is working. I believe in the scriptures... I believe in God, but I honestly don't believe in the people because the majority are hypocrites, and so many names I won't use. We have a big role to play.
