Just skip the crypto part and do you think there is no one is losing their paper money? That is probably 1000x worse than within the crypto world. And each scams follows the scam tactic, just lure the people into their scheme and don't give the time to think about their actions and this is how most of the scams are still happening.

The government, to some extent, are already doing enough by creating awareness and warning in some sorts of way, especially in the banking sector. When you want to make some transaction they ask some security questions to make sure you are not paying a scammer. If me the problem is with the people who are ignorant and easily to truth strangers while in some little cases mistakes lead to one being scammed, if we improve in questioning things we see online the number of people who got scammed will reduce.

Even if bitcoin is not new, but we can't expect that those who enter bitcoin investment are knowledgeable enough to secure their account as most of them only rush to invest in bitcoin because of wanting instant money, without having the initiative first to make initial research or study before entering bitcoin.

But when they screwed up and realized that scam is real, that's when they start researching and acquire information that would make them totally avoid the future scams that would come their way. That's why we wont be surprised that until now scammers are still making a good income.

Platforms need to be held accountable for hosting fraudulent ads and users need to use upgraded tools for better security while employing risk management practices to be in the safety bracket.

For bitcoin uptmost security what you need is to use a cold wallet, using hot wallet exposes you to the dangers of scammers with or without those wallets running ads because any wallet that’s online is already vulnerable to scammers in my opinion.

Scams are not base on how long the bitcoin or anything has been in existence it’s not controlled and one cannot say that they are immune to it due to maybe knowledge. Rather it’s actually evolving because the people behind it are highly intelligent people who always comes up with new ideas when old ones are identified

You should know that the more people are getting used to this their old method of scamming, that's the more they are also looking for a way to advance I me look for a different method of scamming. The truth is there's nothing you can do to stop people from falling victim to scam. And you should also know that not everyone that is aware of most of these strategy you listed here, some have not come across it before that is why they easily fall for it whenever they have encounter with them. However, our duty is to keep them  updated especially those folks that doesn't know anything about the internet.

Despite bitcoin isn't new at all, but people still fall from the scammers because security does not matter for new users or investors. Their focus is just to achieve their goal and make the most of their desired profits. And that kind of mindset made them even fall more as a bigger target of scammers hiding in every corner.

My point is, people do not care about it until they fall on the scammers trap. I guess no matter how good or intelligent an investor is, everyone is still vulnerable to scams. That is why as much as possible, we should value security more, more than our own obsession in making wealth with bitcoin.

So who is really lacking here? The users who still fall for these scams, the platforms that allow fake ads and fake apps, or the government for not doing enough?

The AI in the scam sector changes everything. By everything, I mean from the limited tools that scammers and hackers used to have to sophisticated that the average bitcoin investor hasn’t seen. Therefore, the don’t trust but verify mantra becomes very difficult to verify. This is a new category that unless something is done about many people will continue to fall for them and lose their bitcoins including those who are well informed.

Bitcoin is no longer new, and crypto scams have been around for years already. People should already know the basic red flags by now, like guaranteed profit, fake investment platforms, and strangers offering easy money.

But why are we still seeing reports of millions, even billions, lost to crypto scams?

Now with AI, scammers can create more convincing messages, fake profiles, fake voices, and even fake videos. So maybe scams are becoming harder to detect, or maybe people are still too careless when money and profit are involved.

So who is really lacking here? The users who still fall for these scams, the platforms that allow fake ads and fake apps, or the government for not doing enough?

Does how long Bitcoin has existed determine how immune it will be to scams? I do not think that logic stands because fiat, gold, and others have existed much longer, yet scammers still find ways to defraud and scam people. All of these are valuable, so scammers won't get tired of trying to have them.

Scams exist because scammers are not giving up. They are always coming up with techniques to scam people. Once they see that one of their techniques has been busted and exposed, they will switch to a new one immediately.

Everyone who is enthusiastic about Bitcoin should just keep themselves updated. Information is key to staying safe from scammers, including criminals who attack their victims physically. Never be deceived, Bitcoin is very valuable, so it will attract people who want to steal it.

Unfortunately, scamming people out of their crypto is far easier than anything else. Because they are the sole responsible individual who has full access to the wallet. There are no third parties blocking/freezing suspicious transactions for them. And every human being is flawed. Eventually we all make a mistake and that is exactly what scammers are waiting for.

I don't think its on bitcoin, but scammers also constantly adapt new tactics to deceive people because those old scam techniques have already become obsolete, and are no longer working. So they have to come up with the new ones where people will find it hard to resist, that is regardless of the fact that bitcoin is not new at all.

And if there are no new investors coming for bitcoin, maybe scams will definitely be controlled or avoided. But looking how these new investors would rush into bitcoin thinking its a get-rich-quick, no wonder why they would easily end up getting scammed.

Well, your question is already answered by you too.

Now with AI, scammers can create more convincing messages, fake profiles, fake voices, and even fake videos. So maybe scams are becoming harder to detect, or maybe people are still too careless when money and profit are involved.

Besides scam methods constantly evolving and adapting to become as convincing as possible with AI, the number of crypto scam victims will naturally grow alongside crypto adoption. The more people enter the crypto space, the larger the pool of potential targets becomes.

For example:
Who would think that a Ledger App officially listed on the Apple App Store, which is known for its strict listing process, would turn out to be a fake Ledger App?
https://www.coindesk.com/business/2026/04/14/a-fake-ledger-app-on-the-apple-app-store-just-drained-usd9-5-million-in-crypto

IMO, scammers are always one step ahead of regular users. They know how to manipulate and exploit both the system and the victim. Scammers are not dumb people, they are smart people who use their intelligence for the wrong reasons.

Google Play and Apple Store are known as possibility of listing fake and phishing applications there, especially Google Play. A fake Ledger application found recently is not like something strange at all.

People must learn about this scam and are well prepared in knowledge, then will be able to practice better in security.
Officially visit websites & download apps, not fake ones.

Its definitely has to be the user a who allows him self to be a victim of bitcoin scam that is lagging. this scams have been talked about uncountable times here and even outside the forum. but those who always want to make want to make quick money are desperate and they are always the victims of this kind of scams, some offers are ridiculously too good to be true but because they want quick money the prefer to take the risk not minding to make proper research on the offer and reviews from people who have actually used the Offer, they just dive into it and end up losing everything. Government should never be blamed if anyone get scammed through bitcoin because it’s a decentralised system which can function fully without the involvement of the government. One should be responsible for his or her actions as regard bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not new, but some people are in this space, and scammers mostly target newbies and those with a lack of knowledge because they know they are the most vulnerable. Other than that, scammers are also becoming smarter day by day, we learn one way of them doing scams, and they come up with another way that we might not yet know about, and that potentially makes us under the risk of getting scammed because a scam will only be known to be a scam if someone gets scammed at first and then tells everyone about it.

Another thing is that people are sometimes too careless with whatever they are doing with their finances and financial apps and wallets, etc. A few months back, a person was scammed by a fake app from the App Store. He downloaded the app and added his seed phrase and everything and lost everything, because he didn't know that the wallet he was using on his PC didn't actually have an iOS version, so he was scammed that way. This is why it is important for people to make sure that they know what they are doing if they don't want to get scammed.

Bitcoin is no longer new, and crypto scams have been around for years already. People should already know the basic red flags by now, like guaranteed profit, fake investment platforms, and strangers offering easy money.
Only those who have had negative experiences with scams, or those with sufficient financial experience and the ability to distinguish profitable investments from scams, know this. The fact is, there will always be inexperienced newcomers to the market, even without basic financial literacy, who, due to naivety and greed, will be willing to risk their money on scams. Simply put, humanity will always generate (give birth to) new victims of scam. Smiley Therefore, scam will always exist as long as humanity exists. The only way to reduce it is to provide people with basic financial knowledge at a young age (in school or other educational institutions).

But why are we still seeing reports of millions, even billions, lost to crypto scams?
Because victims of scam will always exist. Smiley

Now with AI, scammers can create more convincing messages, fake profiles, fake voices, and even fake videos. So maybe scams are becoming harder to detect, or maybe people are still too careless when money and profit are involved.
Unfortunately, modern technology has allowed scam to reach a new level. And it's likely that fraudulent methods will only continue to evolve. People are too naive, trusting, and greedy to critically analyze fraudster's attempts to deceive them (and they're also emotional, which is what scammers most often exploit).

So who is really lacking here? The users who still fall for these scams, the platforms that allow fake ads and fake apps, or the government for not doing enough?
What's the point of looking for someone to blame? To shift the blame and responsibility onto them?

There are no guilty parties; that's just how life works. As I said above, there will always be victims who, due to their inexperience and greed, will lose money, and there will also be scammers, immoral, and dishonest individuals who will take advantage of this.

Bitcoin is not new but we have a lot of new crypto investors flooding into the market.

Alot of them with limited knowledge, some with their only goals of bagging profits no matter how terrible it is. That's why we still have a lot of people getting scammed easily.

It's not going to end there, the crypto space still has a long way to go. Now we have more advanced methods which scammers could Incorporate into their schemes to get theirs victims and it's going to make things much easier for them.

Those platforms are only there to make profits from promotions, they don't really mind if what's being promoted is legit.

What the OP said is true but that doesn't mean we can control the flow of investors funds. So, our job is just to warn them by educating them on the types or signs of scams in the crypto world and let them decide. After all it's their money and their decision, so the risk is already part of the package. Why do crypto scams still claim victims? It's because of human nature itself, namely the desire to continue to reap huge profits, take risks, FOMO and of course alternatives that are considered to make rich quickly.

Scams don't succeed because a thing is new. Being old does not automatically eradicate scams. As long as people are looking for ways to get extra money, there will always be scams. The stock market is over a century old, yet there are still some forms of scams in it. You also have to realise that scams also evolve over time. They don't just remain the same.

There will always be vulnerable people. There will always be people who want to make quick money, ignorant people, or people who are just naive or gullible. As long as there are people to scam, there will always be scams.
You should also know that some of these people don't know that they are being scammed. Like the people who gamble on memecoins and shitcoins. They get rug pulled every time, yet they don't consider it as being scammed. They feel that is the way the market is, so they just continue, hoping for the day it would be their turn to hit.
The crypto Market is also relatively new. Bitcoin, which is the oldest of any project, is not even up to two decades old. So considering that other financial sectors are at least a hundred years old, Bitcoin and teh crypto market is still new. And with regulation not properly sorted out, expect a lot of grey areas and scams.

It has nothing to do with whether Bitcoin is new or old, because as long as there are people looking to make quick, instant money without any effort, scams will continue to exist. This isn't a matter of regulation or a lack of education, but simply a matter of awareness that some people fail to recognize the red flags in an offer and want to make quick money instantly --- and scammers exploit this to their advantage.

Even though learning more about Bitcoin is longer a mystery and there are so many means to learn about it and gain valuable informations people still get scammed, the reason for that mostly is greed and impatience. There are people that still fall for Bitcoin investment scams even till this day all because they don't want to go through the long process of holding and waiting for their investment to increase. People get scammed because they chase quick profits and the need to get rich quick but there are no short cuts to making money from Bitcoin.
