Ton chain founder Pavel Durov in his recent telegram post announced that TON coin is change to its original name Gram (GRAM) - the name from the original TON White Paper that never left the codebase. Not change the blockchain name which stays the same TON / The Open Network.

I see three voting options: FOR, AGAINST, and ABSTAIN. Then we have to connect our TON wallet. Below that, I see recent votes, and in front of those votes, some amount of TON is written that is the voting power. On what basis is the voting power calculated? Does the wallet that holds more TON get more voting power?

Also, with just two days left, we have just under 5,000 votes so far. That's way too low considering the big TON community

Yes, Before voting they took all the wallets snapshot and based on your token value your voting power is determined.

After looking at the specs, it turns out nothing will change except the name. IDK if this actually matters to the community, but I don't think the name change will have any impact. So far "For" has almost 80% of the vote with almost 3 days left of voting, while "Against" & "Abstain" have 20% & 0,5% respectively.

Well it directly associates the coin with the Telegram app which is huge.
Initially they wanted to name it so but after all considerations, "TON" was a careful approach back when the regulatory climate was more uncertain.

Imho this is really huge for retail investors attraction.

In other words, those with more coins have more influence in the vote than the small guys. Is it just me who doesn't like this "whale" kind of approach? I don't think this is true decentralisation and no different from how our corrupted political societies behave, especially during decision-making or election/voting times.

Since this is relevant to the Telegram app that has billions of users, a name change for this coin is significant.

However, it will be good to know why the team and the community (the people voting for it) want to have that name changed from TON to GRAM? Yes, we know the original name was GRAM in the white paper, but what difference does it make when the community and the users are now used to "TON" coin name?
