There will be no election in seven states that have off-cycle governorship polls. Among the first term governors, Fubara did not get a re-election ticket. Defections, broken alliances and the weight of incumbency have set the stage for what is panning out as Nigeria’s most consequential election in a generation. Incumbents, godfathers dark horses clash in 18 northern states The battle for the control of government houses across Nigeria’s 18 northern states has been declared. Parties have fielded their candidates. Godfathers have picked sides. And in several states, the men who were once political allies are now sworn enemies.

All this plans is for the president to still have his way by 2027 election, and these governors whom they want to restrict from second tenure are those who the present feel will not give him the desired support.

This system of politics going on in Nigeria is entirely different from the ones we used to see, imagine the governor of Rivers State was even denied the ticket to run the primary in Rivers State, this is something am seeing for the first time even after defecting to APC.

And ever since almost all the governors and politicians all troop into APC, due to the fear of being able to secure their re-election into power. I knew that with the large number of people who were decamping into APC, that there will definitely be an issue when the current people in power get denied their seat to contest next year just like they did to Governor Sim Fubara.. And with the look of things, this is just trying to proof that our Nigerian governors no longer have power anymore.

The governor of River State brought whatever calamity that fell on him to himself, a party that's you said you are a member of did Ward congresses, and not even a single member of your political fold was among the Congress and executive members that were selected within your state, if you are not allowed to produce the executives of the party congresses in your state, how then do you expect the party to hand over the structure to you for an election when you don't have the structure at hand, in all honesty he is one of the most shameful politician I have seen in recent times.

This coming 2027 elections will be one of the toughest that Nigeria have experienced, it’s completely unpredictable, nothing is certain yet, even Mr. President Bola Tinubu is not sure yet because of numerous coalitions, Tinubu is also very careful because he doesn’t want to lose the support of some state governors and senators, on the other hand even the governors are shaking, any governor that didn’t really perform well will be shaking this time because majority of the masses are not happy coupled with the fact that presidency is not fully backing any governor because he doesn’t want to add more enemies to the already existing once, take Rivers for example the state governor has completely backed out because of several internal political clashes, so you see this years election might end up shaping the face of Nigeria democracy.

Sometimes I wonder what the masses would do asides airing our voices on the media or protest which mostly fails, it makes me wonder if Nigeria would ever get better cause the lawmakers that are supposed to kick against some ugly things are fully in support cause its their political godfather and many have been bribed.
 What we practice in Nigeria is never democracy, politics ran by godfathersm has killed democracy, this government is never for the people or by the people but a government led by criminal minded people who only care about their interests. That's why they want to remove the governors that are threat to the government and install their puppets.

You are right. I like the word, if you eat and dine with the devil, you will also join them in suffering the aftermath. APC had already turned their party to a bad baggage where they accommodate all sorts of uncouth politicians with ill intentions for the party and the country at large, they started with a good course and something some of us saw as a strong ideology in its early days only for it to be turned to a caricature party where you have bunch of unserious elements claiming to be our leaders, once someone joins APC, I don’t take them seriously anymore just looks their primaries elections self and how dirty it is.

This is not the first time this kind of thing is happening in Nigeria. It happened in Lagos state where ambode was asked to drop his political ambition and the whole country was silent. Concerning Fubara withdrawal from the governorship race,even the governor himself has said it's for the best of the state. Because fubara withdrawn from the race doesn't mean he cannot contest under a separate party and win but he simply didn't want to do so because he wouldn't win. Fubara is a man who loves peace and can do anything for the sake of peace, perhaps his decision to withdraw for the race is the best way to achieve peace in the state.

The country no well and these people dey plan how them go retain their position and after them manage settle down we no go too hear them complain and all that, wetin dey really cause wahala for politics especially the one wey dey happen for Rivers State na this their yeye godfather of a thing, I know say e suppose happen but the way some of these godfather them dey behave e no suppose to be so, na wetin dey make somebody like Wike dey fight our governor to push am comot from seat, e no make sense at all, division for the country e too much, if the politicians no keep things in order for their gathering how the citizens wan take follow them without thinking otherwise? I read through some of the post here, but yours got my attention because you actually understand what went wrong in our political system although although it is not as if we have not been seeing similar things like this but what played out in Rivers state was the power of the president and I won't blame SIM for any reason, Tinubu is a very desperate politician that can sacrifice anybody to get what he wants, I think the game is getting more interesting by the day,  we have heard them saying come and work with us, but I will tell us that this coming election will not be business as usual even though it will, it will only be in the west and south, the other part will be divided, I don't want to go deep into what has played out in rivers state but I know that if Tinubu played a neutral game, SIM would've had his way, let's not forget the first local government election conducted by SIM, that was the first time he showed his power, Tinubu us very interested in Rivers state but I will still say that, in time coming, what happened in Rivers State this time will go the other round and people will be reminded about history.
