Do you believe you have a future in gambling?
For me, one character of a gambler who might survive long term is someone who actually tracks his wins and losses. Not just remembering the big wins, but also counting the losses, checking the net profit or loss, and trying to see if there is really improvement.
Because without records, it is easy to fool ourselves. We remember the lucky days, but forget the losing streaks.
So my question is, do you have that kind of discipline? Do you really know how much you already lost and won in gambling?
Or are you the type of gambler who only remembers the wins, and slowly forgets the losses?

Proper documentation would have been better like it is better to do for everything that includes recording. Although, I myself when I still gamble didn't have a proper documentation but have a way of keeping tabs which helps me a lot and I think there are others in this category. Also, I think almost evey casino have a tab where one can see their total wagered, deposits, wins, losses and withdrawals which can serve as documentation for gamblers to see if they are living well or not. This is also helpful for keeping a well structured tab.

I understand the fact that to be more responsible and effective gambler, one should always trace or be informed with his gambling wins and losses. But in real life, I think just being aware that you're losing and winning at times is already good enough, as knowing how much you have been winning or losing could only be a waste of time because you can't go back to that and change them.
What most matter now is how you deal with your current bets based from what you've learned from your past mistakes and losses. But if its not giving you a hard time tracking your wins and losses, I think that could also help to stick with your budget, to instill maximum discipline, and to track every now and then if you have improvements on the result of your current bets.

Your casino deposit and withdrawal history can serve as a feature to track your wins and losses, wins through withdrawals done and losses through deposits. From time to time it is important to go through so that you can ensure you strike a balance and not turn gambling into a hole in your pocket that takes money from you without you keeping track of it.

Or are you the type of gambler who only remembers the wins, and slowly forgets the losses? I used to be the type of player who kept a spreadsheet with all my bets, how much I spent, how much I lost/won, and other data. I confess that this is very interesting for those who are starting out and want to identify betting patterns, see where they are going wrong and find out what needs to be improved... many players only focus on winnings and forget that they lose much more money on small bets than they win on victories. Currently, I no longer have this meticulous control, but I have a fixed contribution limit for bets every month, so I know if I'm in profit or loss when I get to the end of the month (sometimes the money runs out before). I think each player needs to find a middle ground, to have control over their bets but also not to overdo it and make the notes too tedious and take away the excitement of betting.

I don't think that gamblers keep a records of their win/loss. Maybe in their mind, but we all know that memory fails as well as we age. And I don't understand why we need to keep our records though. Gambling is all about risk taking, it's not that we need to see improvement. So I don't record my winnings, yeah, I might remember my big wins, but forget my losing as it will just make my life complicated. Well if you are that kind of person that looks at gambling as something to make money or a job, then maybe you jot it down. But what if let's say that the money that you have lost are too much, do you have the mentality of quitting right then and there?

I am not even keeping track of my losses and my wins when comes to gambling, as I believe this is not something which is supposed to be taken as serious as a source of income. I rather to keep and look at my investments and track them instead of updating a spread sheet with my gambling losses and wins. I don't have a profitable future in gambling because I am against the house and it's edge, so it would be irresponsible for me to delude myself and assume there is profit to be done in the long term on casinos. I would only assume I have a "future" in gambling if I started my own casino (which won't happen) or if I am allowed to stake my bankroll on the side of the house. Otherwise I would be lying to myself.

I'm not sure what you mean by "future in gambling." But from what you're describing, I get the impression you think gambling can be profitable for someone who keeps detailed accounting records. Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you, because it's usually those who manage to win a lot in a short time who aren't likely to lose from gambling. It's simply a matter of calculation that the longer you play, the more certain you are to lose. The only solution is to gamble with amounts that you can consider entertainment expenses.

Uneducated, naive, or just plain dumb individuals are those that rely on memory for these kinds of things -- the educated understand that memory is extremely faulty and is subject to all sorts of conscious and unconscious distortions. Even the most rational-striving person will have various distortions, and the average human's memory is as reliable as that of a toddler. This is not limited to gambling in any way, all of these menial things are to be done with proper documentation. There is no need to remember anything and wonder whether it is accurate when you have hard data that confirms the real story. I do all sorts of data tracking for myself, and my play money is included. It does not take much time at all once you create a routine out of it, but then again I don't play that much given the restrictions that I impose upon something like this. Therefore, some people here who play a lot could have a hard time tracking everything but then they can use accurate but shortened methods. If you deposit in larger chunks, you can focus on tracking deposits and withdrawals and that is it. You don't really need to know individuals wins and losses if you have thousands or tens of thousands of bets played, you can save a lot of time by focusing on an objective PnL.

You can only recommend this philosophy to those who are treating gambling as a major source of income and likely building carriers therein but I must say it that... It will not do you good in the long term if you have to keep and checks your betting records in the long term because, it will trigger very troubling inner mind after much you will get to realize how much you have lost. I bet it that in that case you will have more loses records than winning and it won't be encouraging to keep good psychological mindsets but if you are also lucky to keep the profits on, that is good too as excitement only comes when there is a win especially hitting the jackpots. So if you ask me, I don't see future in gambling because I bets occasionally and for fun. I don't either keep past records but interested on my bankroll.

Ok, so how is that working for you so far? Are in profits long term in 'gambling'? So my question is, do you have that kind of discipline? Do you really know how much you already lost and won in gambling?
Of course not, I couldn't care less about the money lost. Or are you the type of gambler who only remembers the wins, and slowly forgets the losses?

Do you believe you have a future in gambling?
Well if I can answer this question correctly then I will say that no future is guaranteed in Gambling. Gambling is not like a career you chose and hope to become something in the future. There are things you do and expect to become something in the future, but in Gambling you might gamble till death and nothing is guaranteed because it's all about luck. As I was growing up to become a man, I have seen many people getting old and hoping to be rich with gambling and yet they didn't get rich till now. Some are even dead. Infact out of %100 of people who plans to achieve success from gambling, only %1 may be able to succeed from it. So my question is, do you have that kind of discipline? Do you really know how much you already lost and won in gambling?
Or are you the type of gambler who only remembers the wins, and slowly forgets the losses?
I don't keep records of my wins and losses otherwise I may get obsessed with it, I am a Gambler who just try luck and forget about my loses.

Nobody knows for sure. Everyone who gambles says they gamble for fun. I've never heard anyone say they've made money gambling. Many people, when telling their gambling stories, always talk about winning but never about losing. Even those who do the math still won't stop gambling. Because gambling offers excitement and the dream of getting rich quick.

I know having a trace back on how our gambling dealings or activities has been going over the years is very helpful and can make a gambler to easily know what he's doing in his game. However, personally I don't have the time to be keeping proper documentation of my game because I maybe busy mostly with business or other things . But regardless, am still aware and pretty much conciouse on how to go about my gambling things so as not to exceed limit or stop when neccesary. Moreover, I'm not amoung the few gamblers that game for the profit, all I seek is just to be happy and always with the little amount I can afford to lose and that's the little secret of my staying strong in the game.

To me tracing my losses I see it as not being important to me at all since I win and lost I see tracing back my lost is a big waste of time , because all I need is counting my wins and not the losing tickets, if we should keep tace of the lost tickets one will definitely get confused so you should only concentrate on your winnings, though you should also be calculative to know why the other games cut your slip when next you are about to stake , that alone will give you an edge to predict properly in your next prediction.

I did a win and loss data collection for the first few years of the game, I kept track of everything, even pennies. Now for a few months I've abandoned this idea of tracking everything, I just always play with the same criteria, so I don't need to track, I always spend the same amount per week. I just thought about one thing, it's not a job and the only thing I do is limit spending to gambling, otherwise I have no interest because it's a leisure activity.

I'm not the kind of person who keeps track of wins and losses... the big wins will always be remembered. Lol if you keep remembering your losses you can get more stressed seeing the total you have lost in gambling.
In gambling I don't have any records, even deposits are never checked regularly, the important thing for me is to limit when making deposits when you want to bet don't exceed your limits then that can damage your finances.
So I am... win/lose then forget it.

I only count the massive wins which I know is wrong but if I did count also the losses then I would never gamble again. The losing part makes up the majority of a gambler's life for almost all gamblers and as such no gambler really likes to remember the lost money when it is much better to remember the biggest multiplier you got in life like x9983 and x11339 for me, unfortunately only these two for me in some long years of gambling. Yes, unfortunately I am the type of gambler who always forget how much I lost and am hopeful for other big wins.

I understand where you're coming from OP, and to some degree it makes sense, it helps create a level of awareness and consciousness on where you are as a gambler. That means, you're basically treating gambling as a business in which you're keeping proper records, that's not inherently a bad thing, but it can be dangerous, and here is why. Keeping track of your losses will lead to one of 2 things; 1) Quitting: When you keep track of your bets, you'll be fully conscious of the level of losses you have accumulated, unless you're making profit, and with this, you'll want to quit to stop those financial losses, seeing how unprofitable the venture is, which is actually a good thing to some extent right? 2) Chasing losses: Especially if you're not planning on quitting. When you see those losses, you'll want to keep going hard so that you can recover them, and this is where things will start getting dangerous. Emotions kicks in, the target is now labeled, your thought process will be to recover this exact amount so that you can break even, and this sometimes lead to addiction. The second part usually have a lot of people reacting this way to knowing their losses, so having a conscious track records of your bets especially if you're losing more might be very dangerous.
