I don't think all you said is correct, most people go into gambling for entertainment, some feel it's also an escape root, so what would you say about the rich that gamble with millions,or the people that has financial support and still chose to gamble,there are some many reason ,even the once that won't make sense to you or me, people has so many things that made them gamble, I sincerely feel bad for anyone who feels they can elevate their finances through gambling , because it's not going to play out like that .

The OP couldn't exhaust all of the list of things that attract gamblers to gamble and that the more reason why he says that we should include ours.. That being said, some guys even gamble just for showoff to their girlfriend and friends of how large their wealth is..Some other gamble just because they are too rich, so they want some of their wealth to be lost, and so they don't even feel the effect of the loss like others who may probably be gambling for the monetary benefits of gambling...

I thought that it's already in everyone's mind that the majority is gambling to have fun, so that's pure entertainment there and some sides of potential profiting. I think that's the common reason why everyone is attracted to gamble and that's hard to change when we actually are having fun. But with the results, we're all losing money and that's why other reasons start from that point and one of is about to recover the losses. As for skipping responsibilities, I don't think that it's a good reason for one to gamble. Face that responsibility and deal with it or maybe it's about an escape to reality.

I simply loved predicting sports I love. When I started watching football as a young kid, I didn't know what gambling was, as I grew up. I started falling in love with other sports like Basketball and Tennis. Even as a kid in high school, I do bet with my classmates on which team would win in football matches. We were not many that loved tennis and basketball, football was the most popular one. So when I went to college, it was easier for me to start betting on these teams because I was always doing something similar with my mates in high school.

You missed to mentioned the main reason why people gamble, which is the chase for entertainment and fun, because all that you mentioned doesn't look like a good reason to gamble and anything outside entertainment and fun I no longer gambling but taking risk by taking gambling as means to solve real life problems like financial problems.

I don't think there's just one reason for me, but I suppose sometimes it's to try my luck and win some money, other times for fun in a place where my friends hang out and do these activities, and other times to add some excitement to interesting matches I'll watch from time to time. But I think most people think about the money, or play out of habit. The problem with habit is that if you have a lot of free time, you can develop an addiction to gambling.

This are strong points that can make one to start gambling but I can tell you that there is nothing close to money. Some people have the support you can think of this life and they love gambling to the core, they can't do a day without gambling, it's like a lifestyle to them even though they have enough money, they have this mentality that money is what they need through gambling and they don't win anything, just be wasting time and the money they have already.

You didn't add the main reason why gambling was designed, which is entertainment. Some people who are fighting other forms of addiction might is use gambling as a substitute. This is called cross addiction because they are just swapping one addictive behaviour for another one.

All of these points are somewhat connected to the third point, multiplying the finances. No matter what is it people mainly gamble to multiply their finances, if they gamble for fun where is the fun in gambling from?? Where does the dopamine come from?? It comes from the multiplication of finances ( earning/profits ) so no matter what a reason is it eventually comes down to this point.

I was discussing with a friend about gambling and I asked him why he gambles and he told me that he just derives fun in doing so also he sometimes does gambles to check his calculative skills on prediction and good analytical assumptions if he could get things accurate based on his own intuition. I find it very interesting though and he was right after all as it make one more logical in thinking and analysing.

As with all forms of entertainment, I would say the major reason for it's popularity is boredom.  I don't tend to worry about gambling unless I need to have some fun and I don't have any friends available to play sports, swim, or just hang out.  This is also why I haven't gambled (despite my bet picks) in a period measured in years.  Not sure if that means I'm too busy or have too many hobbies, but I look forward to jumping back in the land of gambling when life calms down a bit.

There are so many factors that attracts people to gambling and such can be for fun, entertainment, boredom, depression, etc.Those who gamble for fun and entertainment don't care if they loose money in the course of it, they just want to get entertained and go home maybe after work and just wants to relax to kill the boredomness in them.

Though most persons gamble for profit making and that's the category I belong to, you can't see me gambling for fun and entertainment because I need money, some persons can actual gamble due to influence from their peer groups. I have seen someone that venture into gambling due to his mother's health and he was stranded and just couldn't get help so he decides to gamble with the little money he has so he can sort the bills, so literally there are so many factors that attracts one to gamble it just depends on the angle you see it. But the most plausible reason is 1&7 and that is seen in daily life experiences. People gamble mostly to increase their income rather than for boredom or out of loneliness.
