I think the government want to increase the minimum wage to 100,000 nara but NLC said that 1 million naira is what they want. They want people say they are doing good?

When will NLC have good economists among them and start doing like a literate.

First of all, your topic needs understanding. I don't really understand your topic. Seems you made a mistake writing it.

Now your content. You are saying then asking for 1 million naira is unrealistic. When your politicians earn more than American politicians. Are you for real? So the politicians cutting down their income to serve Nigerians is seen now as inconvenience. I thought they are there to serve Nigerians interesting. Seems like you yourself are a politician. If they can't pay that, they should cut their incomes in half. Are you not seeing what's going on in the country. As insecurity is piling up, we need money for randsome as the people in charge of security are failing at their jobs and still there eating money. Please, let's be guided.

If they always negotiate the amount it could be the reason for Nigeria labor Congress to start from the amount so that by the time negation started they would arrived on a good price and agreed on that, we already no ₦1 million is something this administrative will never implement for anything but any amount they agreed let it not be an amount that's below ₦150 thousand because they should also no that a salary of ₦150 thousand can't do more than buying food in the house. The policy of this minimum wages is making people not to be interested of how they do it because is not also effective on the places they're working.

The topic is a bit confusing but if I may understand what you mean clearly, you are saying that the NLC are not serious because they are demanding a whooping amount of money which is 1million naira as minimum wage, well as for me the amount they are demanding is not outrageous and the government can afford it and I believe before they are through with negotiations the amount will be reduced, it's not actually a huge amount considering the state of economy and how the prices of food is skyrocketing everyday in the market so it's fair enough.

Honestly speaking, let the truth be told this people deserve better because that amount is not even up to one quarter of what our politicians take home monthly so the affairs of this people should be looked out for so they can live comfortably, the masses are suffering due to high prices of goods and insecurity so they should negotiate well and pay a deserving amount.

The effect of ₦1 million minimum wage will be detrimental to the Nigeria economy. You people that support it will be the one that will later be blaming the government about inflation in the country.

₦1 million minimum wage means more people will buy more expensive phones, laptops, cars, TVs, and other goods and services that are not in Nigeria, this will significantly affect naira and its purchasing power will significantly reduce, making dollar and other foreign currencies to increase if compared to naira. It is highly advisable for NLC to think in the right way. They should be demanding for better minimum wage than what can later affect Nigeria. At the end, things will still be like how Nigeria is now after they are able to handle the inflation. Those collecting the minimum wage will still remain being poor.

The issue of this country is not about the minimum wage. I am not implying that it should not be increased, but ₦1 million minimum wage is not possible. The NLC even know that.

I really don't under your topic, are you with the government or NLC. I have not heard this news, but I think if NLC is requesting 1 million naira for minimum wage is not a bad thing. Firstly things are too expensive that the present minimum wage is like nothing compared to the economy in the country.  Nigeria government are also used to negotiating things like this, so it's good to go high, since we all know that they will end up negotiating it. My only issue is that the NLC is no longer an active body and the government really don't take them serious. I really wish they could stand their ground and at least get a better minimum wage for the people.

Op 1m isn't enough they deserve better, in this our economy 1000k can't even feed a family in a month, even jf the government can't achieve the 1m let them increase it to 200k or more. Or let them improve in the economy for work to be able to make use for their poor payments.

You can't say they are not serious because they Demand for huge minimum wage, do you know how much the failed politicians are taking home every month, so the workers should be taken seriously by taking care of their welfare.

Who can be with the government of Nigeria with the nonsense that they are doing, but I noticed that NLC are overdoing. I remember when minimum wage was 30000 naira, they wanted it to rise above 500000 naira from 30000 naira. It is better they have good economists instead of what they are doing like they did not go to school.

What the NLC are demanding from the government is in the best of all Nigeria workers but the government won't implement it,they will complaints they don't the capacity to pay such of amount of money but if the NLC can succeed in pressuring them to pay,I will be happy. The government have the capacity to pay everyone in this country N1 million Naira each monthly and it would affect the economy. If Senators are earning millions of Naira for doing nothing, nigeria workers also deserve to be paid N1 million naira minimum wage.

If I may ask why are you blaming NLC? because I see that they are doing the right thing with this demand they are making, normally we know how Nigeria is that amount that demanded is okay, but I know definitely they will not pay that 1 million naira, but he have to look at it very well and adjust to what they can pay. Honestly that  job is not easy I once put myself in their shoe because of the past history of them dealing with government. My fear with this minimum wage is that if they increase it definitely all the commodity follow it and at the end, we don't usually see the impact of it rather will prefer we should be collecting the same thing that we are collecting before.

Honestly speaking, the civil servants deserve better and even the said one million naira if raised won't be enough for them due to the hike in the prices of almost everything in the country, how will a family Man of about four children who are all in the higher institutions and other billings amounting from school fees and house rent cope with  a seventy seven thousand naira(#77,000) that's totally unfair and not deserving for them comparing the level of commitments they put into the job.

I agree with you that the demands are fair and it's not an outrageous amount compared to the whopping amount that the politicians steal on daily basis, but I understand that if the amount is negotiated by the government it can be increased but not up to the one million naira that it's been demanded for, it's an Insult on their person as OP said they ain't serious for demanding such amount, I pray the government do what it's right by increasing the minimum wage fairly.

You are right my brother but the 1m minimum wage can't be implemented because they will see it as a huge amount of money but looking at the Nigeria economy now 1m isn't enough for a family man, politicians are taking more than that and it's not ok for them.

We are in a corrupt country even the NLC is also corrupt they can't even stick to there demand or at least make it 500k ones there oga on top get bribe the whole issues will be forgotten if they went on strike to cut it off because some sr men up there has been given some good.

I agree that civil servants deserve better pay because the current minimum wage is struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living. A worker earning ₦77,000 monthly would find it extremely difficult to cater for rent, food, transportation, healthcare, and children's education, especially with a large family.

While ₦1 million may be difficult for the government to implement immediately, dismissing the demand outright misses the real issue, which is that workers need a living wage. The government should engage sincerely with labor unions and arrive at a fair increase that reflects current economic realities instead of leaving workers to bear the burden of inflation while public officials continue to enjoy generous benefits.

In addition, the government and the NLC need to negotiate to find a lasting solution, let them fix a date and venue where they will sit down and talk about the way forward which is to find a way to make life easier for workers.
The negotiation should be about workers salaries. It is not a must that the government must agree on N1 million, they can agree on a more reasonable amount like N500,000 then after a year the amount can be increase to N1 million. If the government and the NLC continues to fight in this manner, tension will get worse and workers will be the ones who will suffer it the most.

We should know that the 1 million that the NLC are requesting for is unrealistic, I don’t even think government will be able to pay that amount of money, and even NLC knows that, I don’t even know what they are thinking because we know how some governors are struggling to pay the current minimum wages, how will you be requesting for 1 million as minimum wages.

If government decide to approve the 1 million as minimum wage’s, then we going to suffer in the country. We should expect the prices of things to sky rocket immediately. We going to be paying more on fuel, and pay more on tax, government is going to look for possible means to get the money back from people, so proposing 1 million as minimum wages is rubbish to me.

The current amount which the government is paying as minimum wages is kind of low, they are suppose to increase it, but not proposing for 1 million as the minimum wages because we know it’s not possible.

Is better for them to accept one million naira and do anything they like because as it stands now there is nothing they would do to cause more problem in the prices of things than it already is, however is the taxing aspects I no they would use against everyone because of the one million naira but still no matter how the tax would be the one million naira is the best because they cannot tax more than hundred thousand naira in a month so truly everyone would still have a lot of balance to sustain but however to be factual about this, the government will never accept even if they're on tension because people are worthless to them so they always prefer an amount that will not be helpful.

Nigeria as a country doesn’t have the capacity of paying 1million naira as minimum wage yet, let the country fix certain aspects of the economy first before they can start thinking of paying that amount, that figure is not realistic yet for a country that is borrowing to survive, the fact that the government have failed and is doing poorly in terms of leadership doesn’t mean that NLC should be making outrageous demands, two wrongs can’t make a right, NLC should come up with something realistic so that at the end of the day they won’t end up getting nothing, it is this their foolish pattern over the years that have made it difficult for them to hit any significant milestone over the years in their negotiations with the government, the government have finally given them listening ear and the best they could ask for is a 1million naira minimum wage with the current state of Nigeria, if you are the president will you pay such outrageous sum at a time when the economy and security of the country is at it’s lowest?

Many things are really going wrong in this country, and I would say the problem of Nigeria is not minimum wage.
When we talk about minimum wage, the people who benefit mostly from minimum wage are government workers, and majority of Nigerians are jobless, and would not benefit from minimum wage.

The inflation rate in Nigeria is high, though am aware that several times Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the masses have demonstrated about the high cost of living in Nigeria , and all the agitation carried out did not yield any significant result.

Honestly, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is not standing on their ground or given support to the minds or agitation of Nigerians.
Nigeria Labour Congress is an independent body, if they really stand on their ground or support the masses, the federal government will have no option than to succumb to the needs of the Nigerian masses. But instead, when their is agitation from NLC, and Nigerians, they call on NLC chairman, and executives, give them packages, and they will call off strike. All these style of leadership makes NLC very incapable.

The issue of this country is not about the minimum wage. I am not implying that it should not be increased, but ₦1 million minimum wage is not possible. The NLC even know that.
I think it is more about proposing an amount that upon negotiation we can see something like 200k to 300k at the end of the day. if we have a situation that in the same country we are leaving in, some public service men are earning far above the 1M naira we are looking at to be too much while others are barely earning up to a 100 thousand naira, there should be an advocacy from NLC for an increase in the pay regular civil servant earn so as to balance things up to a great extent. 1M naira minimum wage is practically impossible but with the way inflation is affecting an average Nigerian house hold, no Nigerian should be earning bellow 200k as his monthly salary.

Why do Nigeria labour congress like this? They are seeking for 1 million naira minimum wage.

https://www.thecable.ng/nlc-n100000-inadequate-as-minimum-wage-n1m-is-more-realistic/

I think the government want to increase the minimum wage to 100,000 nara but NLC said that 1 million naira is what they want. They want people say they are doing good?

When will NLC have good economists among them and start doing like a literate.
But wait, do Nigeria Labour Congress still exist in this country? Because since APC government entered into power and most especially since Tinubu who seems to have conquered all the state governors entered into power, who haven't heard from the Nigerian Labour Congress say anything when the power needed them the most as the price of cement skyrocketed from #6k to almost $12k within a space of few months, and likewise fuel skyrocketed from #300 to #700 and now $1400, but yet never did we jear from this Nigerian Labour Congress. So to me, this move by them to request for a #1million minimum wage is a complete joke, because eve if they had said #250, that would have been a reasonable amount, since the soldiers are also anticipating for that same amount of money too, or even #150k would have been better if only inflation don't hit us again.
