The Scarcity Pandemic

It's not a pandemic I guess, it's the normal law of scarcity. Limited supply and high demand > high prices. Maybe it will be at the expense of other needs that a person can achieve just to get 1 need (or just a want) because they have to work harder and save money to the extreme at the same time.

It's an era of structural scarcity from the way I see it because, the old models are failing and if governments refuses to adapt to rising demands of the population, frustration will be the order of the day.

These days in order to evade the structural scarcity situation, individuals must avoid looking up only to the government to remedy them and think out new ways to help themselves as the focus becomes more about individual discipline, proper financial management, compulsory optimization, and low but selective time preference to survive and thrive.

Even in this forum, some of the previledges and abundance that might have existed in the past is long gone and almost everything is getting scarce.

I used to think like this after watching a survival movie in which a pandemic would make the living conditions of people very difficult and they faced all the problems you have already mentioned in your points haha. Well living the movie in reality can be so hard than we can imagine, but unfortunately we are already living it but in a less aggressive way, the way where the difficulty mode is set to lower settings for now but with time as you defined, it is increasing.

You are right about everything, our actions will have consequences for the next generations. The political leaders are taking loans and corrupting the resources for their own good and a long time will pass when this generation will be gone and the next generation will be the one facing the consequences and they will be forced to take decisions that will affect them greatly.

I think part of the issue is that we sometimes romanticize the past, so while many things were indeed cheaper, wages were lower, opportunities were more limited in some sectors and then access to information was nowhere near what it is today. What has changed significantly is the level of competition. More people now are chasing the same houses, jobs and resources, so the scarcity feels much more visible than it did before.
As for whether we're psychologically prepared, I would say not entirely, like alot of persons still operate with the mindset that opportunities will always be plentiful and that economic growth alone will solve most problems. So the reality is that a growing population and finite resources mean individuals, businesses and governments will need to become more efficient, adaptable and strategic than ever before.

Umm yeah, that makes sense. I forgot to consider that aspect in my previous comment: governments can regulate large things to create endless dependencies. Geopolitics rarely allows ordinary people to have power and independence; they will always limit certain things.

There has never been a time that there was no scarcity in the world, our parents only tell us that they had it better when they were younger because they did not understand what the other part of the world were suffering. Every generation will have it better than the next generation because scarcity will always be a problem, what we have to do is to prepare ourselves by investing in assets that can give us money so that we can be able to afford things because things will always get more costly.

Scarcity will always be in the economy as if you get to think of it, it is what drives drives an economy as people get to do different job just to meet up their daily life. We can't try to solve scarcity in the world because there are people that are artificially influencing the way things are being available for others to use, for example we have a big supply of diamond in the world yet diamond is scarce and being glorified by many people as a precious metal the same can be said for oil as we have many oil reserves in the world yet the common man can't afford fuel as he would have liked.

What creates scarcity is when a lot of people are faced a limited supply or the supply is not limited but the number of demands for the product is increasing more than what is produced so a lot of people are jostling to be among the few that will get it. If you don't want to face scarcity it means that you have to chart your course to the road that is less traveled, if there is a product that is not in demand you can consider if you can make due with it because it is cheaper.

If rent is very high in the city you can consider an area that is not densely populated where you can get a better deal although you have to put a number of things into consideration like nearness to you place of work. Where there is scarcity you should always consider whether there are alternatives, if you can make due with the alternative that is not scarce then you can go for it. Do not just follow the crowd you should consider first consider if it will be valuable for you to do so.

In the past, most of the things that are scarce at present were available in abundance.
it was easier to get money and with little money you could build your house, hire cheap labor and get enough energy for your household. it was also easier to get credit from government and getting capital to start up a business was not really a big issue compared to now.

I don't think any useful goods are scarce. Technological development has made it easier to develop alternatives to scarce consumer goods. It has never been easy to make money but the difference between the past and now is the value. Inflation has destroyed most economies, making the purchasing power of some currencies drop. Our fathers could build a house because even the little they earned had value.

it was even easier to buy bitcoin in large sum  because it was cheaper and money was actually flowing well. but now,
we're seeing scarcity return in multiple areas simultaneously.

The value of an item or asset will increase if the demand for it increases. Gold was also easier to acquire, but this is not the case currently.

Population growth and inflation might have contributed to the high cost of house rent.

2. Energy is not even available in so many part of the world to meet the demands of the digital age that requires constant power supply.

The world has enough resources to power every sector. The problem is mainly conflicts, monopoly, and poor infrastructure.

3. Government finances is low and with increase in skilled labour, there is still scarcity of jobs.

The main function of the government is not to provide jobs. They are meant to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. With the increase in investment in AI technologies, more jobs will be lost.

The growth in the number of members of the forum will necessitate stringent measures for control. Maybe that is why such privileges in the forum have reduced.

I live my life a day per time. I have learned not to worry about things I cannot control. I do all I can  to get the best out of life.

I will start by saying the population of most nations is increasing significantly. When the population is high, there is a scarcity of resources that will sustain everyone. The main problem lies in the scarcity of land, natural resources, skilled workers, and many other things. This is what causes difficulties in major societies. As the population increases, there wont be enough housing, food, and healthcare, added to a spoiled and corrupt government that will make things even worse instead of finding solutions.

Yes the same, resources are enough but it's inflation and corruption that makes things scarce. The big problem is not scarcity, real problem is decline in society's moral values that is not decreasing day by day but every day its percentage is increasing. Or in these days institute think it as their right to do corruptions rather think is is wrong practice .As a result distribution of resources is not possible equally. Only elite class are enjoying every thing even inflation creates no disturbance for them. They enjoy good positions job, higher salaries, secure future and even securities facilities. The problem of scarcity is attached only with middle class. They struggle with inflation and corruption both. And government in this regard looked helpless, no work or policies are made to reduce the termite of the economy. It's a bitter reality that everyone knows the problem factors but no one willing to eradicate it. Justice and accountability can resolve the issue, they can lead the economy on positive growth

When you are inside abundance, you cannot see it. You do not see it. You see the world. You assume the world is the world. If they are accessible, then they are accessible. Cheap credit means credit is part of the deal. If you could afford housing, then that was normal housing.

I think about what it actually felt like to buy Bitcoin early. Or what the people who really did feel. It was just a decision. In the same way that one purchases any kind of speculative object, he or she may have the chance to find that it will work or it will not work. The victory came when the frame changed and all of a sudden that was a big decision. However, you cannot make that decision again. The window is real and closed, and the closing is permanent

And housing. God. What made it so costly to live in urban areas was not bad intent. It was the logic of people protecting what they had, which is human and understandable and also produced a catastrophe for everyone who arrived after.

Was our mind ready? No. Abundance specifically trains you to be unready for its absence. All skills scarcity need patience, communal trust and deferred want. There is no need to appear like a child that has not got it yet when you are abundant. And so when the abundance recedes those skills are not there and you are reaching for them.

This is natural, before now you can attest to the fact that we heard fewer population which means that, the there were more opportunities and even resources available for the people. But as time goes on there is an increase in the population leading to fewer opportunities among the population.The solution lies with you positioning yourself in such a way that you are not cut away in the middle of scarcity, knowing that resources in the world is getting more scarce as each day passes.

First of I don't believe anything is scares. It think it was designed by the elite for it to feel that way. Reducing the amount of people that actually get to climb the elite ladder. The world was built for few people in mind. We are just stack of cards in someone's game. It's sad that they actually successfully made us feel everything is limited like Bitcoin. The only true limited item is Bitcoin. The rest is in abundant. Diamond no matter how rare is in abundance. Same with Gold. We are ever still mining Gold. The supply is infinite. Only Bitcoin is truly scarce.

In the past, owning or buying land wasn't so expensive it was affordable. Now, housing is one of the biggest problems in big cities. Despite this, people continue to try to live in big cities, but how long can this continue? The three issues you mentioned are among the biggest problems today. The population is rapidly increasing while production and resources are very limited I don't think we're ready for this.
