Is bitcoin becoming too complicated for the average person

I don’t think there is anything there not to understand, there is absolutely nothing difficult, this are just normal security terms that needs to be followed and what is really hard there is it writing the phrases? Bitcoin is even more easier now compared to before when you will have to think and go through so certain difficulties before you can even buy and set up your security properly, so you don’t end up loosing your bitcoins to scammers, you have to be very cautious and active in terms of being able to control your portfolio.

The fundamentals of Bitcoin are still the same as were in the beginning. I don't think any of these fundamentals have changed, become difficult or incomprehensible. Of all the things you mentioned, hardware wallets may have come later. Where the fundamentals are the same too. But in the past, since the price was much lower, security issues were not given much importance. But now, since the price has increased a lot, hardware wallets are being used for additional security. All these things are not that difficult to understand. It may be a little difficult for new one , but if someone tries on their own, even then they will be able to understand these bitcoin related basic things easily on a short time .

Yes what changed? You still download the wallet, set it up ( which I believe you forgot to add) and then receive the bitcoin and use it as you like. If we’re talking about an “average user, I’d say bitcoin is easier to use right now than ever because in its early days, they weren’t many platforms for exchanging bitcoin or maybe even for live tracking its price because  at that time they were only few.

Nobody is making it “harder” or “complex” for anyone to learn about bitcoin, these things aren’t hard to comprehend for an average person.

People are lazy by nature and are often more likely to accept information as truth when it is simply presented to them on a plate without checking it. And knowing this human tendency, many scammers take advantage of it.A lot of people do not want to explore or understand something new because, relatively speaking, their current life already feels good enough. And in many cases, for real change to happen, the old system or way of life first has to collapse.

In the olden time when bitcoin was created, you have to learn about how to avoid your coins from being stolen, you have to learn about private keys. You can know about full mode if you want, but it is not necessary. Everything you are saying that makes bitcoin complex now has been existing before.

I think these factors you mentioned make it very easier and improved its security rather than making it complex as decentralized system like banks and other do when you are planning your investment.

Having secure investment means you need to take the control of the Bitcoin on yourself, unlike banks that will handle everything to you and to also control your money for you, you will control it yourself and use it when you wanted at your convenient time, therefore, don’t look it as complex thing, it is design to actually gives us financial freedom and control over our wealth.
Even as the price is high, you can still buy small and enjoy everything letter in the future because that’s how the early investors also start.

Nothing has changed much with the bitcoin protocol in terms of usability.
People used to hold bitcoin in a wallet in the earlier days too, they used to keep their private key safe and also had the knowledge of blockchain nodes and transaction fees.
I don't think anything has become complex, in fact, it has become easier for people to hold bitcoin these days.
People can install a wallet on their phone with just a few taps and note down the seed phrase and make the transaction within minutes.
Even the transaction fees get auto-calculated and so things have just become simpler I would say.

Bitcoin is not too complicated, the expectations from the people is on the high side so rather i will say it's becoming boring to some extent. Accessing Bitcoin is somehow ridiculous based on the price. You need enough cash to get one. Some people just believe that with Bitcoin they have excaped poverty. Although without those strigent measures you highlighted, probably Bitcoin would have lost its value like fiat. Again, i think the things you highlighted is for the security of the person investing in Bitcoin. For Bitcoin to remain top notch, the process must be difficult so that Bitcoin will lose it's value.

Yes, all those existed in past and they exist today as well. Well, in past there was less awareness that's why many people have lost their private keys and their Bitcoin are locked forever, but now everyone is aware and those who're Bitcoin investors know how to protect their private keys. Aside from that difference there's no other difference in anything, everything that was true in old days is true today as well.

You're not wrong, the learning curve for proper self-custody is definitely steep. But remember back then, "simple" also meant people were losing coins left and right to basic malware or crashed hard drives. Being your own bank actually takes work and real responsibility.

The reality is, the average person who just wants convenience is probably going to end up using ETFs or trust banks / exchanges.

I read through the op, I got confused because I don't even know what it is difficult I think I will say some becoming very lazy every day, is their anything difficult to learn in Bitcoin.
The seed phrase you even mentioned is the easiest thing is just that people has to be more careful about it because of how important it is, this is to tell us how careless some people are in real life, they don't like security, they just want something that is way and the question they refuse to ask themselves is how is that Bitcoin is decentralized, how about the security, why is that it is difficult to hack peoples wallet if they have set up the proper security needed to secure their wallet

Complication will only occur if they are not willing to learn because all who are here must be laymen first, so why is it that most who are here (who have been laymen) can understand and there are some who think it is still complicated. The answer is learning and research.

Everything of value cannot be taken the easy way so this will return to each point of view and qualifications whether or not you can see bitcoin as a valuable thing.
 
I started bitcoin even at the insistence of my closest person who suggested or rather forced me to learn bitcoin but the longer I was grateful when I was given the opportunity to learn this because even though at first it was quite difficult because some of it might be adaptation and introduction but the longer we will understand that the word complicated is actually an exaggeration.

Even the banking system when using the fiat currency for both local and international transactions you must have to learn about how the entire process is being done before you can be able to handle your transactions. Nobody was born knowing all of that from birth but we're all learnt. You mustn't be a tech nerd to know how to handle bitcoin but just learning about the necessary basics puts you on the go in using it. It's all boils done to dedicating time to independently study to know step by step.
