Trust Wallet and Exodus definitely don't take privacy that seriously. If you are interested only in bitcoin, then I wouldn't use either of the two as my go-to bitcoin wallet. There are better choices out there. Electrum, Sparrow Wallet, and Blue Wallet to name just a few. If you want multicoin wallets, there is Cake Wallet and Unstoppable Wallet.

It's very difficult to say what a closed-source wallet can or can't do. It's impossible to verify their claims. What you can be certain of is that both mentioned wallets know what crypto you have, how much is on each address, all addresses associated with your seed, the IP(s) you connect to their servers, and your device IDs.

To improve your privacy, you must use tools meant for that purpose. It starts with your own node, Tor, no-log VPNs, a privacy-focused browser, etc.

In contrast, when obtaining them from  indexer (backend) server, the filters are “Wasabi-specific” (optimized and lightweight) and are not standard BIP 158 filters".


By above, I just want to highlight thatbitcoin-safe wallet ^{discussed here} is probably the better example of “true” BIP 157/158 wallet, as it is genuinely P2P, not centralized, meaning wallet is capable to fetch relevant blockchain data privately from multiple Bitcoin nodes ^{providing they allow to} without relying on specific server

Next version of Wasabi Wallet removes the need of an indexer/backend and synchronize with the bitcoin p2p network thanks to bip157.
