I don't really blame beginners who don't have the security mindset in Bitcoin while purchasing Bitcoin because most beginners think about or know only the Bitcoin value, and their main concern is to make a profit from Bitcoin.

Should we put this blame now on those introduce this newbies to bitcoin because one of the biggest problems that we have is how narrative given about bitcoin and how the newbies are introduced into bitcoin. Most people that introduce them only give them focus on how they will make profit by investing or trading but certainly they don’t get the exposure to how to secure their assets or how not to even lose them. For me securit should be paramount to every investor either old investor or new investor, either large holder or small hodler too.
I think it depends on who is bringing the newbies to join most them are pass the wrong narrative to the, well the truth is that this days you it so hard for you to look for a newbies who was involved in bitcoin without having the mindset of cashing out, well am sure you also pass through such when joining bitcoin investment.

Well I think it has been done by everyone here before so it shouldn't be a new thing, most likely joined with a good interest to earn richly and most joined through bad growth of the country, most joined through scam and all of that is why we are all here.

Good luck and always wish your self the best

Many people enter the bitcoin space with one goal in mind, making profit. Although there is nothing with that goal in mind, but i believe that one of the first things newcomers should learn is not how to buy bitcoin, but how to protect it.
Is there anyone  into bitcoin  that his goal is not to make profit  or build  long time wealth? Okay there are some few persons  that are more concern  about third-party  involvement  in the transaction  so their goals  is just the decentralization. But it's also necessary  that you approach  it with the possible best and secure  way so that you don't end up losing  all yours  time and effort  there learning  Is paramount  and not just for newcomers  but everyone  on the space because  bitcoin  is wide and no one knows it all.

Quote
A security mindset is the habit of thinking about risks before taking action. but it is quite unfortunate that many people start thinking about security after they are already lost funds to scammers, phishing websites fake giveaways or malware.
Thats why it  said that buying  bitcoin  is just  one of the easiest  part but keeping  it or holding  it is the part needs more attention  because  you are fully responsible  for holding  thatys if you're using the decentralization system. But most newcomers  are using  the CEX so they don't take the security  aspect seriously  because they  probably don't know or they were not properly  oriented.

I’m in support of learning security measures on how to protect your assets for the long term but not before buying bitcoin, you can still be buying your first bitcoin and still learn about bitcoin. As I said learning about security measures is a great idea, but certain things should hold us back from buying our first bitcoin.Even with the little knowledge we have on securing our traditional currency can be a little bit helpful on how to secure our bitcoin.Anyone can be vulnerable whether an expert or newbie, that is why acquiring security skills on how to protect your bitcoin shouldn’t stop at being an expert, but newbies are more vulnerable not because they’re after quick profits but because they have little knowledge about the crypto space and they can easily be deceived by random people on the internet.

A security mindset is the habit of thinking about risks before taking action. but it is quite unfortunate that many people start thinking about security after they are already lost funds to scammers, phishing websites fake giveaways or malware.
Basically, everyone should understand the basics of anything they want to buy. Whether buying a computer or a cell phone, they should learn how to use it, keep it safe, and perform maintenance. All of this is done to avoid unwanted incidents, including fatal errors, and this is related to a good mindset for someone who is about to buy Bitcoin for the first time.

Furthermore, someone should buy something they understand, especially when buying Bitcoin. Many people blame their purchases after they don't get what they expected, when in fact, it is their fault for not understanding them first. Therefore, try to understand the basics of Bitcoin first, then learn more. So, you won't blame Bitcoin, and you won't misunderstand it. By the way, how to "protect your Bitcoin" is one of the "basics" you need to understand, and that is what I mean. In addition to, you also need to read news related to scams in the crypto world, so that you understand how they work, and hopefully you won't get caught.

Yeah basic knowledge is important, but if they paired it up with common sense and risk management for sure that they won't fall easily with scams.

Then they could able to purchase their first Bitcoin without having any issue.

Buying should never be a problem if they go to legitimate platforms, but if they explore to look for new places and try to finds more cheaper or those people offering discounts most likely their chance to get scam is high if they do or think about this things. But much better if they exert efforts to research, so they would know what to expect if they decide to invest on Bitcoin.

A legitimate platform can not prohibit users to do stupid things and get scammed. Like on Peer to Peer market places, users are responsible for their trades, what they do with trade partners and if they release coins before receiving payments, they lost their coins, and scammed but it's their responsibility.

Like this forum, people can be scammed here while scams are not moderated here, but it's not right to say this forum is not legitimate.

People can choose wrong order types on centralized exchanges and if they lost money there by market slippage, it's not responsibility of that legitimate centralized exchange.

Not every person's personality and goals are the same. I believe there are many people who invest and keep buying continuously and they never decide to sell until their time limit is up. But yes, a person who always follows a trader will definitely want to sell his holdings. Because whenever we follow a person, our personality will become the same. But every person's goal needs to be long-term. Whatever steps we take to achieve our goal, all the steps need to be perfect.

Even if you don't buy bitcoin, your devices need to be secured well enough, it's vital for your devices and anything stored on your devices. There are many things on your devices can be compromised, not only Bitcoin wallets.
Wait. Do you store your BTC on an internet connected device because that's what your statement here pinpoints?

It's true.
Because Bitcoin transactions are irreversible.
Irreversible transactions.
Bitcoin transactions are reversible if it's yet to get the transaction confirmation, which will prevent them from happening. A lot of scammers have you the strategy to scam a lot of Bitcoiners by believing that once the transaction is sent, it is received.

They just have to learn the hard way. I do sometime think the best way to educate someone is to let them learn from their mistakes. Some people even after you try to teach them would still not be ready to put their learnings into play. Someone that's nee into the crypto market should have just two things in mind, storage and purpose. Purpose helps you grow a thick skin on why you should invest into that asset, in this case BTC. Some investors don't even know why, they just see that people are making profits and wants to also follow the crowd till it gets blurry.. the type to storage method you choose for your investment also determine how safe your asset will be on a long term. If you fail at these two points you have already failed your investment..

That's very good advice, Hatchy, and the sooner whoever decides to invest is aware, the better it will be for them.

But if we talk about buying your first Bitcoin (your first sats I guess the OP means), I wouldn't wait for so long to get my first satoshis and learn how to use them. I'm talking about little money, of course, but as I read a few days ago, that's the way it becomes "real" and you can feel confident. But then, it is important to get the education you have written down about before the moment you reach too high a level of confidence.

Sigh, while the learning the hard way is repeating itself scammers and hackers are getting bigger belly, this is exactly why many people are leaving their jobs to become a full time scammers online, because it pays more than anything, and it's a never ending cycle since we will keep having newbies and also beginners who will only learn after they make mistakes, this means that scams will never come to an end.

I believe these are things you learn from experience. People who use the internet should generally know about security and know that they shouldn't trust just any site or people they meet without verifying, but those are things they learn as they get online, or internet experience. It doesn't mean it has to happen to them personally. They see updates and discussions about it online. They read stories of people who fell for scams or made mistakes. They don't learn all these things in one day.

When I started in my Bitcoin journey, I knew about security, of course, but there was a lot I didn't know. With time, I started to understand and learn about things I didn't even know existed. You don't learn all these things in one day. That is why it's called a journey.

I really like this thread because it helps users to know what is required of them before even investing or after investing, when we are more informed about the danger that could involve or come after any wrong decision or steps taken in Bitcoin and electrop to investment, more better for u also difficult to lose our assets to scammers or any form of threats against us, the more we are being informed to the better it becomes for us.

For those who want to purchase their first bitcoin my recommendation is just buy it in a exchange worth small amount, sometimes we become so focused on just learning that we become confused and forget the main goal. Security mindset can be built over time just need some basic knowledge about how wallet and exchange things work. We come to crypto world without knowing about bitcoins security. Technology becoming advance so we also have to become advance by learning new things.

Learning how to protect Bitcoin is among the basic knowledge that is always advisable and encourage to anyone that is starting Bitcoin investment new. But let the idea not be to learn but also have the plan and intention to accumulate and hold for the long term because it will be very sad after learning, you didn't make good use of the knowledge you have to accumulate Bitcoin because knowledge is only useful and interesting when we exercise it. And yes I think the common goal is to make profit in the future as no one will do something that won't be beneficial.
True if you are learning or trying to acquire knowledge about bitcoin security or how to protect your Bitcoin you should also plan to invest in Bitcoin, you will never know everything concerning what bitcoin security is or what self custody actually means until you have your own Bitcoin, when you learn without putting it into practice you will never have the full knowledge of what you have learnt that is why practicals are very important in schools because it helps the student to understand very well what they are actually talking about in the theoretical aspect.
True, one of the reasons why people are investing in Bitcoin is for profit making but that is not the only reason why people are investing into Bitcoin some people are investing into bitcoin because they want to have financial freedom, some people see Bitcoin as a store of value and some invest in Bitcoin just to protect their money from inflation in their country.

But some of them could make mistakes so big that in could shatter them into going out of their minds, some newbies who experience serious mistake make not have any skin to even continue with.
Learning from your mistakes is quite helpful but it all depends on what was lost and how mentally prepared the loser is so if newbies can avoid that and rather learn from others mistakes it would be alright for them.

This is the best thing that people who are getting to know Bitcoin for the first time should choose. We often see rave reviews from those who have been able to get rich on their investments, and whether it's true or not, some people are quite boastful, exaggerating their profits. But people who read, listen to, and see the stories of such people don't try to identify the downside of these investments (those moments when volatility occurs or the fact that people are not ready for a certain period of holding their investments, investing what they need for a normal life); they often learn from their own experience, which subsequently leads to disappointment and, moreover, to complete denial.

There is always a good saying that says that "the wise learn from the mistakes of others, the smart from their own, and fools do not perceive mistakes at all." Everyone should choose the right answer for themselves.

I don't know whether it is now hard for us to find a newbie who haven't fallen victim to scammers, or made the mistake of not taking the security measures of protecting their Bitcoin serious.

I see meaning in what Hatchy said about the best way to educate newbies is let them learn from their mistakes.q That way they will learn to take the security they learn of seriously. I too learned from my mistake as a newbie, that's why I don't take the security measures of how to store up my Bitcoin for long term for granted.

It's not like this. We can try to help newbies, teach them, educate them and not all but some of them will learn well, and don't need to make mistake for having good security.

With newbies who are not ready for learning, don't need help from us, it's true that "let them learn from their mistakes" is the best last choice. We can not do anything to change such newbies, and they must learn, experience, make mistake, have loss, and probably change themselves by learning and practicing more carefully. Such newbies want to prove that they're right but unfortunately, they will be proven as wrong but with expensive cost.

Newbies of nowadays is no longer the Newbies we use to know, because currently, Before a newbie buy a Bitcoin they have made a research of bitcoin properly, they have also know the security measures and the wallet that is suit for the particular coin, now is no longer the time we invest bitcoin without having the knowledge of bitcoin properly...

People who doesn't know about Bitcoin are now making research about bitcoin ahead of their bitcoin plan's of bitcoin investment, so what I'm saying in summary is that bitcoin investment, people already know the advantages and disadvantages of bitcoin before investing now..all what you listed, newcomers in bitcoin, most of them is aware of it....

I think for anyone who had been positioned to invest on bitcoin should consider scamming a secondary loophole as a threat to his funds but considers storage system as primary objective to keep your investment safer.
Here what we should be talking about is the kind of wallets you use and the mode of storing your seed phrase.
And yes even as a beginner, you don't have to be negligence of scammers and hackers because you could still have your seed phrases intact with your non custodial wallet in used but if we don't pay attention to learn about other possible means of loosing your funds then you have not started.
Maybe you truly have to learn the hard before staying at alert when dealing with bitcoin or crypto.

This was mostly the case in a lot of beginners in crypto because they just doesn't really want to learn at all and mostly just care and get blinded by the profit that they might be able to earn in the long term, I think it is because of the image of crypto since most of the news are just pure hypes and it was really get popular by hype even here in my country it was because some of the people get easy rich at some cypto games to the point where it was advertise or get the image of crypto becoming an easy money.

They already forget about the security and mindset before even starting in crypto, and it was all get blinded by the hype of it. I've known a lot of people who put everything, even their own retirement money, into it intrusted it to their close friend. The disappointing part was that she was already planning to retire when it all got lost, and their retirement money disappeared in an instant. The most important thing that I recommend for someone that is just starting in Bitcoin was if they really wanted to start and invest, they should be the one that is going to do it, they are the one that is going to do the research.

It will be very hard for someone that just came into the Bitcoin world without proper orientation to succeed at first tial because Bitcoin world is a very wide and complicated system that if you don't learn or understand what you want, what you are doing or what to do at the right time as a beginner or even an expert you will loose your Bitcoin so not to make that happened in the Bitcoin world you need to know many things and you have to know this through the guidance of an expert or leaning from you past mistakes or even learning it online, the internet this days has made everything easy for us all in many parts of the world so it advisable to use one of the mentioned above tips to be able to safeguard, learners and know about how the Bitcoin system operates.

Bitcoin isn't that complicated and hard like you view it, if you can read and can write, you will understand the most basic part of Bitcoin unless if you are blind by greed. I doubt if there are things that greedy around Bitcoin that could make you lose Bitcoin in 2026. Most often, it's altcoins that people lose their money on, you don't need much with Bitcoin, your seed phrase and a wallet and money to buy from an exchange and withdraw to your wallet; it's not more than that.

Like OP said, he was centered on mindset, if you are here to maximize your Bitcoin but, it will work and if you are here to get scammers attention, you will definitely do but it's easier to buy Bitcoin and hold than when you follow up some shady things on crypto. Yesterday, I look at the condition the market and shook my head, literally there is nothing left for people mostly the alts chasers, so they are rugging from one project to another scamming each other circulating same money.
