Why Are Japan’s Lawmakers Pushing Crypto Reform Now?

Quote
A group of lawmakers within Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party is seeking changes to the country’s cryptocurrency tax system and stronger support for yen-denominated stablecoins, as Japan looks to keep pace with global digital asset rules.

The party’s Parliamentary Association for the Promotion of Blockchain delivered recommendations to Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama on Monday. The proposals cover stablecoins, exchange-traded funds, central bank digital currencies, and wider applications for blockchain technology.

O mas mabuti bang maging mahigpit muna dahil marami pa ring scams?

Sa atin? Wala naman may alam talaga na mambabatas na gagawa ng law na yan, of course may mga staff sila to assist them. Pero paano nila ma de-debate yan or sino mag de-debate about niyan if wala silang alam towards crypto, how it works, etc. If its about taxation, baka si vatman naman gagawa niyan, GG na naman tayo dito. Lol

I actually agree with you here.

In fact, baka mag backfire lang ito sa existing crypto HODLers and investors in the event gumawa sila ng batas that will prejudice yung existing rights and privileges natin. Ang nakikita ko na solusyon dito would be to invite legal experts and professionals on these field to guide our lawmakers should they decide to really create a law for this.

In all honesty, however, parang medyo impossible na mangyari pa ito ngayon given na mas inuuna nila ang kanilang mga personal interests as of now. I just hope na magkaroon ng push for our lawmakers to consider it for our benefit in the long run.
