My two "achievements"

I put the word “achievements” in quotes because I've never been one to pat myself on the back for so-called achievements on the forum. Recently, in another thread, I reflected on my history here and my possible “achievements” on the forum.

I also hit my 10,000th post this year. Since I tend to think in terms of orders of magnitude, the next significant milestone would be 100,000 posts, which I won’t reach.

I think the only milestone I’d still have a shot at reaching would be making it into the top 100 in earned merit. Same thing there—for me, the next milestone would be making it into the top 10, which isn’t going to happen.

Reaching 20,000 posts or being 90th in earned merit is cool, but it’s not nearly as cool as when you move up an order of magnitude.

On February I wrote my 10,000th post.

And now I've realized I've reached 100th position on earned merit:



I know I might temporarily dip down to 101, but I think the trend will be to continue going up.

So, rather than a celebration, it’s more of a reflection. I don’t have much technical knowledge, though I know quite a bit more now than when I first joined the forum. I’ve been in many heated debates, and I’m not exactly the nicest person to debate with. I’ve defended political ideas that aren’t very popular these days, and that’s exactly why I changed my username.

And even so, I think I’ll leave my little mark on this forum.

So if anyone sees the journey on the forum, accumulating Bitcoin, or any personal project as a mountain, remember: slow and steady wins the race.

I've seen some real nonsense posted on the forum about the subject, but this thread takes the cake. Aren't you embarrassed to write that, OP? You're just starting a thread about your thoughts without having the slightest clue about the subject. Saylor buys almost every week; if you knew that, you wouldn't have even thought of starting this thread. Here's a list of the purchases.

Until a member is Legendary, his/her journey became harder than it used to be. Most of the time they go through a lots of hardship even if they are knowledgeable and genuine. In some cases, even if you are a legendary but not obeying a certain group you are still at the risk to get bullied.

It is definitely harder than before merit system was introduced, but since then, its never been easier to become Legendary member than it is now. As a matter of fact, its so easy that even shitposters are reaching it and you can even argue that merit system is failing.

And I honestly don't know about these hardships that you are talking about. We are not in gulag, this is a simple discussion forum.

Well, he did say OP insulted newbies, and then quoted one of OP's posts from a few weeks ago that was addressed to him in a harsher tone.

I wasn't around before merit system was introduced, but from what I heard from those that were, situation was much worse than it is now. But that doesn't mean that current situation is good.

Perhaps one of his alternative accounts was offended, since Karl_3000 is someone who fights for a culture of behavior and politeness on the forum, which means he has direct experience of "injections" from the OP, since he remembers them...

On the other hand, OP, your ladder of success should be an indicator for those newbies who create unnecessary topics about how it is very difficult to rise in rank, since no one shares the merit, and everyone is very angry and greedy. It seems to be easier for the patient and thick-skinned to survive on the forum, so congratulations and wishes to rise at least half higher and receive a silver wreath.

 I get how much of a mood killer it can be when you get a talking down from someone you're looking up to but that's life, just try to grow a thick skin. I understand it's not everyone that can adapt fast on this space but that's why it's important to read and understand a subject before pitching in your two cents. Btw, congratulations to the op. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean. Little achievements like this often make way for bigger ones. Yeah, you might not want to praise yourself but I don't think it's a crime if you do because it's things like this that give us the motivation to be better and do more.

I did not post on this thread again because that one merit Free Market Capitalist sent me means a lot to me. You can see that my account is not a newbie account, that is obviously not a lie but there are newbies and low rank users on this forum.
