Anyway, the point being — do you think it's ok to read op and directly respond to it? Cause, every time I do it I feel like a shitposter. So, if you'd validate me by saying that it's ok to do it, I'd stop feeling like a shitposter and I can shitpost without feeling bad about it.

If everyone is actually responding to OP alone and not reading other responses then there will be more spamming than anything because almost everyone will be saying the same thing.

If you repeat what others have said before then you are simply spamming.

You need to read all the replies of a thread for two reasons since here is an educative discussion forum.

1. While reading through the replies you might see a better solution to questions asked than yours and that’s how you learn

2. You might read replies which are totally wrong or different from your and then you make a correction or add your opinion to that.

This is the reason why you can even quote other replies on the thread if not you would just be able to quote OP alone.

It’s also the reason why you need to turn on the warning ‼️ that someone had made a reply before you while you were typing to avoid spamming

Yes, it's okay to respond to OP post after reading it but when discussion is already taking place and you feel that you can add something to someone's reply then you could do that as well. As long as you can keep a discussion healthy, one should never consider it a shit post. However, if replying OP you started with something that's completely out of topic with no relatedness then that's not a good practice.

You are open to respond as long as it's in line with what the op is highlighting.

I do read through some comments on a thread after reading the op, and I don't always have to reply op directly. If his point has already been understood, I will read through replies and sight out those I may not understand.

The point of discussion is to pick important points from the topic and give your own opinion or view. Along the line when you spot others that is good for discussion you could put more light or give a reason not to agree. It does not make me a shit poster.

OP doesn't seem to be in a good mood today, right? Why are you annoyed that your topic, which you created a little earlier than this one, doesn't get the answers that you would like? Could it be that you formulated it incorrectly? I'm sure that the answers in the topic that you didn't like prompted you to create a new topic. Would it be news to you that many people don't read all the answers? Or do they read the first post and sometimes just quote the last one, sometimes completely distracted from the topic? Such are people, and such is the forum; some are in a hurry or lazy, while others simply do not understand what the author wants to convey to them. You know how you can find out that someone hasn't read a single post in the thread they posted in? When someone on page 22 of the topic (or page 12) quotes the entire OP post and writes something nonsensical, then you realize that he has not read anything and that he is not interested in other opinions.

In my opinion, it is quite logical that you try to read as many posts as possible in the topic in which you are going to post something, because that way you will avoid post something that others have already posted, and thus you show that you are not one of those who are only interested in the title of the topic.

Let's say, for example, the topic of El Salvador in the Bitcoin discussion is an obvious example of people not reading anything written even in the last few posts, because despite the fact that that country abolished the status of Bitcoin as a legal tender more than a year ago and that it was written dozens of times in the topic, some still believe in what is written in the title of the topic.

If the thread is still like on the first page or two, and will respond to OP if the question is like a yes or no (plus explanation or example) and some replies too.

But if the thread has multiple pages already, i tend to respond other replies instead.

If your target only wants to reply to OP, then yes, you should read all the replies. If that's not possible, avoid topics longer than 3 pages (or those that can't be done).

I don't think so if you're confident your writing is more substantive. Spammers/Shitposters can only be identified by how many of their posts are deleted within a certain periode. Unless you see this indication in your post history, your hunch is probably correct.

That's right. That's exactly what I meant when I responded to a user today whose post clearly didn't fit into the discussion thread.

This depend on the kind of thread in discussion. There are some threads that are questions and need answers only. If I see the question already has answers then posting on that thread is no longer useful unless I spot an error or mistakes in the answers from the replies which I think it's appropriate to address to avoid OP from been misled.

If it's a thread that is a discussion that requires opinions or information and the thread has not reach limit of mega thread. I will give my opinion because regardless mine will definitely be different from others but if it's a mega thread and not interesting, I will skip and go look for another interesting discussion thread.

The rare last one are interesting mega thread with dead OP(inactive OP). This thread are bulky but are very useful thread that sometimes you get information about wallets updates and bugs, some involves forum users or it warrant my attention, I will attend to such thread without hesitation.

I think it’s very wise to read everything, most especially when there are so many responses in a thread, because we might end up not understanding everything, but we can find something that is very appealing to us in a short time intervals that gives solutions to why we have created that thread.

But I needed to ask this question, is it possible for someone to read everything in a mega thread that have up to 100 pages, wow who really have all that time in the world to read such threads, I’m really curious about this things, because you mentioned something of that about reading everything in a thread.

Like you have said If you repeat what others have said that is spamming, and you suggested we read everything in a thread before giving our contribution, do I also have to read everything in a mega thread before giving my contribution, most especially when the thread has up to 100 or even more pages.

Everything comes down to how you understand the discussion and how you're willing to make a good contribution.
Yes, you can read the OP message and also read as many replies as possible before responding to a topic, but it's not a must that you respond to the OP question because there's already an ongoing discussion by other users, which can trigger more meaningful contributions.

I doubt if anyone can read all the replies in a thread before making their own reply except if the replies are all in the first page which is about 20 replies. Though during my newbie days, I do read a lot of replies in a thread before commenting but at a point it became tiring which made me to limit it to reading the OP and few replies then I move straight to making my own replies. However, not reading many replies in a thread does not make you a shitposter but it often leads to spamming because if you don't read the replies of others how will you be able to know if your opinion has already been written by someone else?
