This was inspired by another thread in this section, and it incorporates years of observations on the impact of certain events on an account's chances of "success" on the forum; "success" defined as being respected while making some kind of income on the forum.

This is a scale of Success to Failure on the forum. Where do you land?

+100: Moderator / Staff
+90: LoyceV
+80: Consistent DT1 eligibility
+70: Green trust from theymos
+60: 5000+ earned merits
+50: Green trust from Collectibles
+40: Included by DT member(s)
+30: Green trust
+20: 1000+ earned merits
+10: 500+ earned merits
0: Average account (no trust, <500 merits)
-10: Neutral trust
-20: Excluded by DT member(s)
-30: Excluded by theymos
-40: Neutral trust by actmyname or for AI
-50: Red trust
-60: Red trust & connected to alt farm
-70: Banned from DT by theymos
-80: Red trust with yellow flag
-90: Red trust with red flag
-100: Banned

I started trying to generate an image for this but it was very cringe so I stopped.

Some people should be able to see where they belong.

Someone like me still falls under the 0 category, but there's still hope, as long as patience and hard work remain constant. All that is needed is to align with the forum's ethics and standards.

Me personally, zero.

I'm happy to be there, considering it's easy to fuck up your account by this point. Climbing up would be lovely one day, but I'm not to worried. Just comes with time. I've made some cool acquaintances and I'm about to join a gang, which is pretty sick I guess. I think your list should be edited - "Green trust from collectibles", should be lower don't you think? I only say this, because I'm aware of past incidents wherein users specifically go there to rack up green trust by participating in large quantities of small-medium risk deals. Then, they perfom some sort of scam or do something stupid. As far as how much lower on the list? Zero clue. Smiley

A card generator whose database has all the information and automatically calculates the score of each member on demand like a tool such as this would be awesome. Unfortunately I am no programmer  Grin
It would be a cool side project though.

How about those who earn merits but never/rarely spend the merits?

What do you think of the image I generated to represent your idea? Did you like it? I think the color transition between green and red looks nice.

Honestly, this is a very interesting topic. Thanks for for making this analysis of the forum's reputation landscape.

Based on what I've achieved throughout my years on the forum, my current DT1 status, and my merit count, I'd guess I'm somewhere between +40 and +80 on your scale.

I am still figuring out how the DT system works in detail.  I believe I got most of it but I am not very sure whether I understood or not.  I believe I am a DT2 Member.  But I have no Green Trust.  Does that make me a +30 or a +40?

By the way.  Why does Green Trust from Collectibles put one higher on the list?

-----

What do you think of the image I generated to represent your idea? Did you like it? I think the color transition between green and red looks nice.
Oh.  Crap.  Now you are at risk of becoming a -40 any time!

Yeah that's a much more objective metric than what I'm doing. But it doesn't account for the social aspects which are indeed much more subjective in nature. This is a cool website and I never saw it before today.

What do you think of the image I generated to represent your idea? Did you like it? I think the color transition between green and red looks nice.

Haha yeah not bad. Mine came out looking like it was from 2024.

I am still figuring out how the DT system works in detail.  I believe I got most of it but I am not very sure whether I understood or not.  I believe I am a DT2 Member.  But I have no Green Trust.  Does that make me a +30 or a +40?

Uh, you can go with the higher one.

By the way.  Why does Green Trust from Collectibles put one higher on the list?

Good question! I believe that that green trust from the more established regulars of the Collectibles board is considered more valuable for a couple reasons:

1. Its from actual trade experiences, sometimes involving high dollar amounts.
2. These regulars tend to be among the more respected members of the forum.

I am pretty sure Loyce is above some moderators reputation-wise.

Tell me that hostfat is more reputable than loycev, everybody will laugh at that. I dont think forum rank limits the account's reputation at all. Some accs can be more credible and wiser than theymos, maybe even god forbid, forgive me for saying this but, satoshi? *ok ok that was a mistake, I confess, I confess*

What he mentioned is member chance of success and what he linked to it is the member to be respected while making a kind of income on this forum. Hope you know that the moderators are paid by the admin? But I do not know if we should talk about LoyceV avatar that is paid huge amount in BTC.

Really, I am a category? Lol Tongue

Me personally, zero.
I can think of a few categories that would suit you: "more Merit than Activity" or even better: "More Merit than posts" for a few rare users.

Quote

I was thinking the same thing when reading this. Green Trust on the Collectibles board is very easy to "farm": just buy something and you're likely to receive positive feedback already. With some luck you'll quickly end up on DT2 too.

Is this what turned me into a category?
It's the nerdiest form of performance art I've ever seen.
You planned all that for months like a bank robber plans a getaway.
I like this one Smiley

Hey, thanks for the compliment. I used to have more merit than posts, but I've been posting a lot more these past few weeks, so it's naturally higher. I digress anyway, I guess it's like you said here:

I'll post all whitelisted users in this topic. They can expect scrutiny. If you're a real user and don't deserve the "evil" label, this scrutiny can lead to earning some Merit.

Haven't had a finger pointed at me yet for my account being born of evil, which is cool. It's slight evidence that disproves the whole "new accounts are hard to progress here" narrative that gets repeated sometimes. It was a concern I had, that it would result in an uphill battle, which is why my first post was sort of a short intro that I felt was necesarry.

Nice thread but it is difficut to establish such a ranking in an objective manner. The first year I was on DT1 I had 1 or 2 net inclusions and if I remember correctly I started in February and was selected like 10 months.

And then, without diminishing the merit of the moderators, it’s clear to me that the top ten in terms of earned merit would rank higher.

I think the ranking should be based more on what you can see on bpip.org

Knowledge do make the difference,
I bet you must know alot about Bitcoin that or related that will play a major role in earning you merit. Meanwhile most individuals came here to learn more about Bitcoin, so that being the case I will assume they don't know much about Bitcoin or mostly discussed topics in the forum, so it gets hard for them to earn merits where by ranking up more difficult.

I personally don't know much but with the little contribution I give in discussions I get to earn, but not like you tho Lips sealed

Well, I've been through all the stages, and I've been almost everywhere. There was a ban, but there was a pardon. I guess I'm the one who, having burnt himself on milk, will always blow on water (Russian proverb). I will never be able to stand next to LoyceV, because I don't have the mindset that he possesses, but I once refused another offer, again, not wanting to have more responsibility. I'm very happy with where I am, and I really regret that I just don't have enough time to be on the forum more than the time I spend on it. Smiley

This is a scale of Success to Failure on the forum. Where do you land?

While completely accurate, this is precisely the issue with DT dynamics at present. Members see it as a ladder to climb, not as a moral compass to adhere to. It lacks integrity as it focuses on the accumulation of power and little else.

Next do one based on integrity, there are various different "shooting yourself in the foot" type of metrics you could use, here are just a few examples:

- Red trusting someone who has given you green trust, knowing that it will likely reduce your trust feedback score by having green trust removed, because accurate feedback is more important than your own feedback
- Adding a user to your distrust list who trusts your judgement, ie backstabbing, because you value accurate feedback more than being included in others trust lists, or the feedback you have received
- Actually growing a spine and acting and/or speaking out instead of staying quiet, regardless of how it effects your inclusions in others trust lists (a base level entry for integrity you could say)

I'm not saying anyone should sabotage their reputation or trust score, only that integrity should be more important that how powerful you are perceived to be, and that can often involve doing things which by default scarifies your own reputation rather than enhances it. Unfortauntely, members are all too often motivated to act when it has a perceived benefit for their own reputation, rather than because it's the right thing to do. DT was never supposed to be about climbing a hierarchical ladder, it was supposed to be about reliability of feedback, but instead it's more about self-preservation than it is integrity these days. I even think ~Lauda had more integrity than the vast majority of DT members and their trust abuse was one of the worst ironically. Unfortunately the longer things continue as they are unchanged, the more these dynamics become ingrained as part of a vicious cycle of "being successful".

This otherwise isn't a dig at anyone in particular: especially not the OP who actually has some decent integrity, like numerous other DT members in fairness, but it's a small minority imo. Most just want to keep quiet to remain in their positions of power, be more likely to gain positive feedback from it, be allowed into signature campaigns, etc, etc. And if you are insulted by this analysis (excluding reacting with constructive critiques), then you are probably part of the problem.

How are we supposed to count this? Just add them all up? Let's see:
+90: LoyceV
Yes!
Quote
+80: Consistent DT1 eligibility
Yes!
Quote
+60: 5000+ earned merits
Yes!
Quote
+50: Green trust from Collectibles
Does postive feedback from ChiBitCTy count as "from Collectible"?
Quote
+40: Included by DT member(s)
Yes!
Quote
+30: Green trust
Yes!
Quote
+20: 1000+ earned merits
Yes! Even though I feel like I'm double counting.
Quote
+10: 500+ earned merits
Yes!
Quote
-10: Neutral trust
Yes! In Spanish. Although I'd argue "neutral" shouldn't be counted as a negative.

Lol, its clearly not supposed to be cumulative as its defined as a scale not a points system. You get +90, that's it  Tongue

Even if staff shouldn't be on +100 for existing...

What's your problem with feedback written in Spanish? Do you have a problem with it but not with feedback written in Russian or German?
