Recently, I came accross posts where popular bandits were holding giveaway sections on tiktok and Nigerians were boldly dropping their account numbers and maybe getting credited. On an rational note, it is not morally right, the money is gotten from ill sources and the bloodshed of Nigerians, but my major concern for creating this thread is that it has deeper consequences that Nigerians seem to neglect.

Firstly, Illegal money is passing through your account and in the future if security agencies are investigating the movement of such funds, you will be singled out as an accomplice in whatever crime they're investigating. Although you may prove your innocence on the long-run, but consider the stress, time wasted and of course financial stress you will incur to secure your freedom. You may end up spending multiple times what you received from such giveaways to regain your freedom.

Secondly, It might be a barrier to you if you want to process your relocation abroad, since your bank transaction records would be examined thoroughly when you apply to relocate and imagine a small giveaway you participated in posing as an illegal and criminal transaction you engaged in and hampering your dreams and may even get you behind bars immediately.

Thirdly, For those that use account numbers which is same with their personal contacts, you may have shown them that you are responsive to any opportunity and they may devise a means to lure you to your own kidnap  and subsequently do another giveaway with ransom collected from you.

While the country is not safe, let's not endanger ourselves more by ignorantly participating in traps in form of giveaways, the consequences on the long-run might be heavier than the satisfaction we receive from the peanuts that is being distributed.

Yes, I know not all Nigerians, but when we keep seeing more and more Nigerians being stupid, we can say Nigerians are stupid. We are a people who have money as the only god we know. When I read about this, I couldn't come to a better conclusion than that some people in this country are supporting the same thing that harms them, the same thing that kills them, yet they are giving it an online support. Participating in that giveaway is a big mess by certain Nigerians and I can agree with you that those money movements is a future trap for those who participate. I was ashamed seeing that Tiktok live and how Nigerians have turned terrorists to celebrities. Actually, most of today's youth focus on social media simply because of the little money they see.
When it begin to happen now, dem will assume that the village people are looking after them, while they are doing their own. But what stops the security agencies from investigating now, why wait for the future? Because I think this is one question that wee all suppose to ask. Because this money is coming from a particular account, and what stops the CBN or EFCC from blocking the account number immediately after noticing this incident. Because despite the fact that I do not justify the fact that the money was an illegal money paid as ransom for kidnapped victims. It still doesn't make sense that our security agencies have not launched an investigation, but waiting for the future.. it's such a shame I swear.

So what if you didn't know these guys were kidnappers, and you genuinely had a business transaction with them, will you still be charged to pay a fine for what you didn't commit? I'm ashamed that Nigerians don't have conscience to the level of dropping their account details for the same set of people that are killing our children and family members, how are they going to seat comfortably and use the money they have gotten from the online giveaways to eat and feed their families without thinking twice about how the money came and those who have been killed by the bandits in acquiring those money through ransoms paid by our poor citizens.

As long as we keep exchanging our voices, values, and votes for temporary handouts, real change will remain difficult. The problem is not just the leaders; it's also a mindset that rewards the very people responsible for the suffering. A society cannot progress when accountability is replaced with gratitude for crumbs.
