Yep, it does require little, whenever my net runs slow, I surf this forum since I can't waste my time on YT anymore, unfortunately I didn't think to create topic for the same since this experience is deffo content worthy but good on you.

...

Nevertheless the pretty funny thing is constantly using 5G or 4G barely makes you see a difference in speed but switching up to 2G you'll definitely get a very smooth experience on the forum regardless of page length and even if images are embedded or not. You should try it out
Fun fact; just for the fun of it I literally published this post with 2G and I think I'm gonna keep it for a while lol.

Disagreeed with this though. Difference is obvious to me, especially when loading images.

Yes, since embedded images are not cached (probably) and usually came from external sources/websites e.g. talkimg, bitlist, and others, which takes another resources than cached data from the forum. Probably 1-2 images is good but more than that, it will take a little longer to load them

So a couple months ago I had a very bad experience with my carrier at the time and could barely browse the slightest of applications and websites I often visit but slightly to my surprise the forum ran just fine on 2G. If can remember vividly I think there was a post where we were actually able to conclude that the admin did have some optimization happen back end.

Nevertheless the pretty funny thing is constantly using 5G or 4G barely makes you see a difference in speed but switching up to 2G you'll definitely get a very smooth experience on the forum regardless of page length and even if images are embedded or not. You should try it out

What you gain in speed/performance you lose in usability.
Tell me honestly... is it easy to create a post on bitcointalk using a cell phone?

I have basic problems like selecting text, scrolling the screen sideways, keeping track of what I'm writing while typing, etc... and adding an image is complicated because it distorts the zoom and then the text becomes tiny.

A table then... impossible to do using a cell phone, it is very bad.

Anyway, the speed is good because the forum really has quite basic features, from the time when even a DSL connection would be enough (hopefully you also know what that is).

I use bitcointalk on cell phone exclusively for reading.

Now what's this "wap" thing or "imode"  suppose to be? I'm not really familiar with this, in fact I have never known this thing (calling it a feature) until today, only realizing it after seeing your comment. All of their after apperacnce seems identical to me though...

And it's a manual method right? I mean every time i need it, I'll have to manually add those keywords at the ending, page by page?
It's because you did not know about this thread

Differences among three pages, I really don't know what are their differences in usecase, but there are some minor differences in interface and I really don't know what are these pages used for. I guess it is for people who have limited Internet bandwidth so that they can access the forum, load pages with as lightest data as possible.

The forum is a cost-effective and easily accessible platform that is very simple to use. Although everything is updated day by day and becomes very heavy and takes up a lot of space, the forum does not move from its place and continues to provide the best service with complete accessibility. Although many sites are currently having problems running due to internet problems, Bitcointalk is still working very well.

Nevertheless the pretty funny thing is constantly using 5G or 4G barely makes you see a difference in speed but switching up to 2G you'll definitely get a very smooth experience on the forum regardless of page length and even if images are embedded or not. You should try it out
Also tried using mobile data, it is running quite well. However, images take a long time to load and keep loading but apart from that, it can be used smoothly without any issues.

Saved and bookmarked, thanks notocactus.

I'm kinda surprised to see it actually. I wasn't aware of it's existence it seems. Pretty helpful and interesting...would you mind if I proposed it for translation to the AOBT? It should be imo.

Btw, I have been exploring that topic, but there were so many pages, I couldn't find the wap/imode thing. Can you please specify which section it's located?

Not the one you asked but for me it is. I am just used to smartphones, and do everything faster there compared to laptop/desktop.

I have tried doing tables once it was headache, I gotta agree there or it could be just because I ain't used to it Tongue

I usually have a lot of tabs open because whenever I find an interesting topic when sorting by unread posts, I will open whatever I find interesting so I can come back to it later. Often times, I don’t end up coming back to them and the tab sits in the background for a long time. Even with more than a dozen tabs opened, I do not ever notice any lag or other performance issues.

It does not require much resources to display text and small images. Even though people criticize it as outdated, I like the simple design of the forum.

After I set my data connection to 2g I refresh my browser but it didn't load i thought it won't work but when i turn off then on the internet connection forum loaded almost as fast as 4g. when i change board it take 3 to 4s to load. Now I'm making this reply using 2g internet connection let's see if it work or not.

Edit:- It takes almost 10s to post this reply. I don't think it take more that 100kb of internet.

And now that you (Mia Chloe) have mentioned it, I wonder whether Bitcointalk had always been this fast...! I'm referring to the early days of the forum.

It's understandable that over the years, Bitcointalk has undergone many improvements, the forum software has been heavily modified/changed/improved/optimized, making BTT what it is today. Technology has also evolved into smaller and faster.

But during that era, what was the typical forum experience..? Did it also work flawlessly back then?

I asked chatGPT about the internet during that time period and this is what I got. I guess only an OG forum user can answer my question now. Smiley

Well personally I'd actually speculate that they perceived the speed back then exactly how we perceive 4G now. Speed is basically relatively and we can only raise the bar when we've already seen and realistic possibility that beats the already existing one.

It's exactly same way we perceived old videos back when 360p was the highest quality and peak but today we see it like an inconvenience just because we now see better quality for displays.
