The hottest topic on the forum where people post nonsense is the one mentioned in the title. It is very easy to write generic garbage after you have watched a couple of Saylor's videos.

I'm creating this thread as the basis for my report because, in some other issue I had a report marked as bad, and after a while another member reported the same issue for the same reason and action was taken. So I prefer to give a detailed explanation here as a basis for my report now because I think if I just give write sentence on the report box, action probably won't be taken.

Having a report market as bad doesn't bother me, what concerns me is that appropriate action is taken.

To summarize briefly, on June 1, Strategy reported that it had sold 32 bitcoins, and shortly thereafter the price began to fall rapidly. One could debate whether there is a cause-and-effect relationship or not, but the most likely explanation—and the one on which there is the greatest consensus—is that the announcement of that sale triggered the price drop to $60,000.

Well, here we have a guy who starts a thread with a wall-of-text OP on the basis of the exact opposite:

Don't mistake the move from Microstrategy as Panic selling.

This is a low-value thread that, if it starts off with that kind of nonsense, is going to be filled with BS low-value comments.

I think that, at the very least it should be locked if not trashed directly.

I have not seen you being aggressive like this before if I should be sincere with you. Why do you not like people posting about Strategy and Michael Saylor? Strategy is the company that has the highest bitcoin in the world and it is very possible they want to surpass the bitcoin linked to Satoshi later in the future. Expect people to post about the company and their most vocal man which is Michael Saylor who is the founder.

The thread you are talking about is about encouraging people to hold bitcoin, about people not to be moved with the coin that Michael Saylor sold. This is a bitcoin forum, the moderators may see the topic to be good. Moderators can not just delete a topic, they have to be completely convinced, but this may not a topic that will convince them.

There are many post like this that are not about Strategy, but you did not add their links on your post. If you do not like some topics, just do not click on it. If you do not like an user because of the topic they are posting, you can add them on your ignore list. I have seen people that posted they ignore a board like bitcoin discussion because of something like this, but moderators are trying their best not to be hostile, but still deleting many topics and posts that are not worth staying on this forum.

I have observed that there's always trends in the forum and individuals will either follow the trend or ignore it completely.

Sometime in the past, there was a trend of Elon Musk in crypto, and the whole bitcoin discussion board was polluted with Elon threads (both high and low quality threads). But today, we may not find any active Elon thread in that board.

Just during the US last presidential election, the bitcoin discussion board and PS board was full of Trump and crypto and many people complained and reported. But today, people are begining to turn against Trump and topics related to him no longer flood the forum.

This is time for Saylor, you just have to manage him and all the post related to him, it will still pass away.

He wrote something perfectly fine.

Like or not Salyor has a huge amount of power while he holds 800k coins.

If selling 32 coins trigger a sell-off

Selling 10,000 coins would trigger a bigger sell off

And selling 100,000 coins would trigger an even bigger sell off.


So people are going to post many threads about Saylor.

It's a free world, and a free forum (to an extent). People are free to hold their views, and you are free to call them out on it, but I don't think this is worth something that you would make another thread over.
I saw the topic when it was posted, I read through it, but I didn't see a need to reply at the time. If you wanted to counter it, you could have, or if you didn't want to, you could ignore it.
I don't think people's "stupid views" are worth stressing over, especially a matter that has no significance to the grand or smaller scheme of things.

I think you exaggerate how low the topic quality is. It may not be top quality, but it's definitely not low quality. The fact that you disagree with the view doesn't make it low quality.
I don't think it should be locked. I have seen way lower threads in the forum. Some of them literally pisses you off.

This era is still fresh because it was just between last november to Febuary or thereabout. Some people talked like Trump was the saviour of Bitcoin or crypto. I had a lot of arguments an dreplied to many threads at the time.
After Saylor, there will be someone else.
Somehow, people always look for a hero figure; I don't understand it.

Another example are the world cup threads. I think I have seen more up to 5 of thems on the gambling discussion board.

Elon Musk was no more trending on this forum after he stop people from purchasing Tesla using bitcoin for no good reason, unlike Micheal that is a bitcoin maximalist.

@Free Market Capitalist, first of all, you can't expect every moderator to have the same opinion/standard by which they will treat a topic or post in the same way. Secondly, I've been doing reports in the Bitcoin discussion for a long time, but I realized that it was just a waste of time - for every report I made, there were at least 5 more topics that were pure garbage.

Furthermore, I try to stay as far as possible from topics that have to do with the mentioned person, because this has obviously turned into an obsession with a certain number of members. A few years ago, some members had a Bitcoin discussion on ignore, and today it seems to me that they weren't wrong about that decision.

I do the same, if I see a topic is useless, I feel it will be deleted or moved to Archival, I would like to stay as far as possible from it, and don't post in that topic. Sometimes I do my job bad and reply in topics that later moved to Archival or even trash can, but at least with this approach, I reduce chances of my participation in useless topics.

After the 32 bitcoin selling of Strategy, many topics about that were created recent days, and discuss about a same thing, so most of those topics are useless but people don't stop creating new ones.

The best way of testing if your way of thinking is right or wrong and if that's how the moderators see it is to simply report that thread and see what will happen. Alternatively, go through the discussion and report individual posts that you believe to be low-effort, spam, or are breaking forum rules in some other way. If the forum staff don't take any action then maybe you are too harsh in your interpretation of what's low-value. I guess "peer pressure", where multiple people report the same thing, might work if a moderator is indecisive and the significant amount of reports make them yield.

I believe his issue isn't about people posting about Saylor or Microstrategy
But the false narrative that is shared.
I have also come across such post especially on strategy and I will be like oh well

It is absolutely difficult to subjugate the opinion of people in forum like this especially when it has to do with the action of another person. In other words, everyone cannot think or hold the same opinion as you do. Michael Saylor and Strategy selling bitcoin will definitely make headlines because the company have been established as a major player in bitcoin. So, expect diverse opinion which is absolutely fine and require that you ignore those not align to yours.

It would had just been better if you reported the post than creating a thread for it and moderator would had taking immediate effect if it was necessary to lock the thread.
I was also amazed when I saw the topic of this thread displayed on the Meta board I was amazed what Michael Saylor and Strategy was to be discussed about here in the Meta board. That is before I clicked on the link.

First off moderation depends alot more on the moderator than the actual post especially in cases like these. There are a couple things they consider first, of which the very first I guess is what the post is about and if it does fit in that board or not if it checks as not off topic `obviously' then the consideration of moving or locking depends solely on the moderators choice.

Personally if there was a board really similar to a case like this after the gambling board I'll call out the bitcoin discussion board. Understand that so long it's not  `obviously' off topic moderators will just keep mute unless multiple reports prompts them to do otherwise.
