You seem to forget that there would always be gullible people in this world. People who believe in hope and who often like being told what they want to hear. Such people would easily give in to scams like this. But someone who often questions reality will hardly fall for it because there's almost zero chance of the world cup being fixed given how competitive ir is.

Match fixing is real and happens in most of the leagues and competitions but there are some matches or tournaments where match fixing will not be possible. The FIFA World Cup is one of such competitions, there is no clue on how that will even be possible because most of the players are passionate about playing for their country and will not easily yield to anything against their country. Anyone selling the idea of match fixing in the World Cup is definitely a scammer.

The players are passionate; everyone wants to win and showcase their talent, but if anything ugly still wants to go on, they can use the coach to destabilise the team by removing key players or whatever he can to reduce their motivation and will to play. I'm not saying rigging is happening, but I'm just trying to let you know that there are possible ways which they can use and get that done.

It maybe possible though that the poorer players from the smaller countries would take bribes on an individual level, but fixing an entire match seems unlikely. A whole team would have to cooperate or maybe they could have a deal with the goalkeeper making a mistake, things like that.

What I would never think is that top games can be fixed. The players don't need the money and messing up a World Cup game on purpose could harm them for a long time. It's not necessarily about having proof that they scammed, but if they play so bad that they intentionally lose a game, it could harm their careers and usually those careers are worth more to them than bribe money.

I understand people falling for fake tickets since people are so eager to watch FIFA.
Getting FIFA tickets on discount is what attract people and then they fall for the obvious scam.
But I don't think people would be falling for fixed match betting schemes.
Out of all the matches, FIFA should be on the bottom of the list of fixed matches.
