​Cryptocurrency Isn't New, It Only Evolved.....

Basically we often hear the word cryptocurrency which was created in the year 2008. But then based on my research and understanding, the science behind cryptocurrency ,cryptography has existed for almost 414 years. And even before then the ideal of using secrets codes to protect information in the sense that only the person recieving it can read it has already existed and has been practiced through out history for over 3900 years. This alone signify how the world has gradually evolved over time and if i may say with out history and evolution the world of cryptocurrency would have never existed. Because when we commence a transaction we often use crypto addresses which only you and the user knows, for that the transaction will definitely safely reach the receiver with out being stolen or any important information leaking out to the public...

​That said in the world of cryptocurrency / bitcoin, cryptography ensures security and ownership, eg:


1)​Digital signature for every transactions.....

2)​prove of authorized transfer of funds by the real owner......

3)​private keys which are valuable passwords to our digital wallet making it impossible for any on to temper with our funds .....


​Over all I believe everything we are practicing now have already existed, but as humans we tend to change and evolve making it more open reliable, and useful. That's how the word cryptography has evolved into the technology known as cryptocurrency / bitcoin...that's all........

Yeah, even in the space of using blockchain technology, other industries have been using blockchain for easy usability of storing data and information, like in the case of medical laboratory where blockchain technology is used to store medical results gotten off patient like the cells, blood pigment and many other things. Robotic companies also uses blockchain technology to automate the work also and provide efficiency.

The same blockchain technology was implied into the cryptographic industry to store, automate and record transactions, that comes up with the word "Cryptocurrency" it's really an evolving scenario it is, even in future, something greater than cryptocurrency will come up where the technology will be implied into something bigger and bigger.

You're correct on those points. Bitcoin's whitepaper was published in 2008, while the network itself launched in 2009 with the genesis block.

Also, Bitcoin addresses are public information on the blockchain. Anyone can view an address, its balance, and transaction history through a blockchain explorer. What remains private is the identity of the person controlling that address, unless it becomes linked to them. As for cryptography, it has existed for centuries in various forms. What Bitcoin relies on is modern cryptography, which continues to evolve and improve over time to meet new security challenges.

Modern Cryptography isn’t just some simple something that was just developed in the 2000s, it was there already for a long time and even the idea of electronic money using cryptography existed in the 1900s, Bitcoin was just the first successful product of these ideas that was completely decentralized.

That’s really an example of how it’s evolved from someone using a signature word or code to get a piece of secret information in the past to this modern integration of cryptography into the financial/money system and it’s really a great thing.

Definitely as Humans we would evolve and improve and every technology we have today might probably trace back to something from the past.

This is very informative about the history of cryptography. Many people still believe that it was Bitcoin that introduced cryptography which is not true.. the concept had been on for years and Bitcoin was just built on that existing concept... Some of these concepts like digital signature, public key cryptography and even hashing have been around for so long.
But I still think that even when cryptography is like the bedrock, it is not the solo contributor . Things like consensus processes, game theory, e.t.c are also part of the what makes these digital currencies possible.

But the history of modern cryptography is not long, but its use started to increase widely in the 1970s. Cryptocurrency is a currency made through cryptography in easier sense digital money.

Cryptography didn't evolved to cryptocurrency or bitcoin, it's not a technology, rather it's the art and science of making information secure, ensuring it's confidential, trustworthy (integrity) and accessible to those who ought to have access to it.

It's applied in everything where information security is required and that includes Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. Like you said, it has been existing since ancient times, I like to say it has been existing since the beginning of information in the world, although the idea has been existing before the concept or idea of cryptography was termed.

Cryptocurrency evolved from cryptics which have always been from ancient times when great thinkers and mathematicians used to it code things like we watch in some epic movies. To solve a problem explorers and researchers will find ways to decode some codes that are very difficult to figure out. You can see then using ancient keys in different shapes to key into different locks in different locations to match inscriptions inorder to get answers or treasures.

The major similarity between the ancient cryptic messages or physical objects to open different types of locks and cryptocurrency today is that the information are always decentralized, anybody that can figure out how to solve the problem will take the price just like what miners do today.

Cryptography is different from cryptocurrency. The latter has been in existence for centuries but for the former, it's a modern application of the science of cryptography. It's important that we differentiate both.

Before Bitcoin came into existence, cryptography was majorly used to protect information but with Bitcoin, it's now also used to secure ownership and transfer of value without relying on third parties. It is not really about the idea but putting the idea into play that is the real innovation. Of course, i won't argue that the concept of cryptocurrency didn't exist through cryptography, but you need to understand that cryptography deals with concealing and protecting private data using mathematical algorithms while cryptocurrency deals with decentralization of financial transactions.

The fact that cryptocurrency isn't new but only evolved shows how humanity has been trying to solve the problem of trust and in this day and age where we can see how trusting people and economic geopolitical systems can be dangerous, let alone when it involves the lure or greed for money.
