Keep buying weekly or monthly (that's called DCA'ing) and then you won't have to worry about the prices anymore. For example buy $100 worth of btc every week and you are good to go. That's your retirement plan.  If you don't do that, you will have to guess the bottoms and tops and you'll mess it up because 90%+ of the retail investors (to me most of them are gamblers) lose money doing that.

If you have been wanting to invest that means you have the resources. You didn't even mention why the fear, I guess fear of losing your money. Well that's nothing to be afraid of since you have already decided to invest (long-term holding) because the possibility of not losing your money is high so kill that fear and just start accumulating Bitcoin. The best approach to use so that you don't worry yourself about Bitcoin volatility (increase or decrease) is DCA strategy, DCA (dollar cost averaging) is a method whereby you decide to buy Bitcoin on interval say weekly, you do this without worrying about the rise or fall of Bitcoin.
Although you have always had the best time to invest in Bitcoin but now is another best time to carry on with Bitcoin investment stop wanting to invest and start buying Bitcoin using DCA strategy, even as profitability is not guaranteed long-term holding has proven to be profitable so far.

Just like any other market, the price moves up and down in the short time frame. That is more than normal. The principles of demand and supply dictate the price of the commodity.

It depends on how you look at it, but in most cases, a long-term strategy has proven to be less stressful and also profitable. Look at it in terms of years of investment. Maybe 4, 5, or 10 years.

The reason why the price of BTC increase and also decrease is because bitcoin is a volatile asset it's price usually fluctuates up and down. If you start buying bitcoin now and hold it for long like 4-10 or more there is possibilities that you are going to be profitable so if you have your discretionary income available now you can get started if you use the dca strategy you can be buying BTC gradually with it you could be buying either every weeks or months depending on when you have your discretionary income, this discretionary income is an income that remains after you have settled all your important needs then any amount left is your discretionary income and you can use to to buy bitcoin.

As a newbie this fear you are experiencing is normal, alot of us here has also done that too. in as simple term the Bitcoin price goes when more people buy, the economy is good etc whilst it price goes down when there big economic crises which creat fears in people minds to sell off their holdings.Things like global news, regulations, and big companies buying in all push the price around. i can't say if this price is the perfect one, best you can do is to use money you can afford to lose, whereby you will keep buying Bitcoin regardless of its price consistently for a long period of time. it mustn't be a big amount even if it is $5 or $10 or more you can afford to use , then it's okay. That way you don't miss any price opportunity.This current dip is just part of Bitcoin cycle, it will surely go up.

Timing is important, but I believe knowledge and understanding are even more important.

Even if you are lucky enough to buy bitcoin at a low price, it will be difficult to profit from it if you do not know what Bitcoin is or understand what you are doing. Profit is largely determined by your knowledge and decision making ability, not simply by when you enter the market.

So my advice is to take the time to learn about bitcoin first. Trust me, once you truly understand it, you will know when the right time is to invest without having to rely on anyone else.

The price of Bitcoin rising a falling as a result of demand and supply. Your worry is that Bitcoin is not moving the way you expect do you might seem frustrate not seeing the type of profit you wan. Is very possible to experience such fear with Bitcoin investment when you are lacking the needed resources to put away for a very long period of time, that doesn't mean that there is no possibility for your to make profits from your Bitcoin inverter within a short period of time. But what it means is that you are holding the amount in Bitcoin that you can afford to hold even though the market goes against your entry for a long period of time, this is to say you don't depend on that money for whatever and can afford to wait for it to recover and earn you some profits along the line.

rate from the previous ATH.

The bear season after an ATH doesnt last forever and every previous ATH has been surpassed and
will likely happen again.

Bitcoin is a volatile assets and its depends and supplies drives the market price with uncertainty and for the sake it's decentralized, investors sentiments will always manipulate the price performances unregulatedly.
