Do gamblers only learn discipline after losing badly?

Many gamblers knows the importance of bankroll management, discipline and knowing when to stop,  but knowledge alone is not enough. When a person win or losses little amount of money it is easy to feel that everything is under control. This kind of overconfidence sometimes makes people to neglect rules that are supposed to protect them. Experience is one of the best teachers as they usually say. That is when they understand the importance of risk management and self control. not everyone who always end up  in learning the hard way, most people end up learning from other people’s mistakes. The problem is that human nature often makes  us to believe that bad outcome always happens  to other people and not to us.
