I was thinking about portfolio decisions and missed opportunities, so I wanted to ask a simple question:

What was the maximum amount of BTC you ever had on your balance?

In my case, it was around 4.75 BTC, more or less. At first, I only held Bitcoin and did not really pay much attention to altcoins. But later I started jumping into different alts, trying to catch new opportunities and grow the portfolio faster.

The problem is that over time this slowly diluted my Bitcoin position. Some altcoins performed well for a while, some did not, and some just disappeared from my attention completely. In the end, my BTC balance became less than 25% of what I originally had.

Looking back, I sometimes think that simply holding more Bitcoin would have been a much better decision for me. But I guess many people in crypto go through this phase: first you hold BTC, then you start experimenting with alts, and only later you realize how hard it is to actually outperform Bitcoin long-term.

I am curious to hear other stories.

What was your highest BTC balance, and what happened to it? Did you hold, sell, trade into alts, lose some, or manage to grow it over time?
