I have seen some bookies offering 0 edge on sports bets and part of their promos recently.

I think this is a very good way of luring people to gamble or a way of making the existing gamblers that have lost enough money that they can not recover on the gambling site to have fun with.

I doubt zero edge is a new phenomenon with sports betting because it is as you said, more of a marketing tool to lure in gamblers to a site with the hope that they get to increase their risk to reward ratio with parlays or other more convenient odds.
I think Cloudbet has this feature but I am not so sure how it functions because I have not really been one to be interested in free or zero low odds that comes with a catch that may be obscure at the beginning.

These zero odds on single tickets though could be a better way for bettors to be rewarded if they need the best value because it deals with a pure market as the hidden hook, while other platforms rely on other marketing scopes like VIP programs, fast withdrawals or even anonymity to get more users onboard.

It is not a new thing, I have some casinos and a few bookies using the zero edge as part of their advertising strategies, but those are casinos are bookies which I don't usually use, so I stay with the common options I have got on hand. It is not worth it to completely change of casino because some temporary promotion on edge of the house.

The most relevant case I have seen lately would be Duel, which allegedly have some casino games (their originals) which are supposed to run on zero edge in favor of the house. However. I am not sure on their terms of service and conditions in which the edge is completely eliminated from those games... When there are promotions and advertisements like those, one needs to wonder what those conditions are.

Not really, maybe because most crypto bookies already have lower margins compared to the traditional bookies? Not sure about that, but they have a different approach to promotions like rakebacks, which are not very common in non-crypto traditional sportsbooks.
It just makes sense that the zero edge only applies to a handful of matches, because just like you said, it is just to keep some money going on and attract more customers to their platform. Putting it in every match will not guarantee them profit, lol. We can almost guarantee to see these promotions on a big and competitive traditional bookie.
I think zero edge is not pretty common in crypto bookies, but regardless of the purpose of these promotions, it's always good to take advantage of them.

I've heard about this before but it's mainly promotional. In other words, it's a bait. Sports betting platforms don't run out of ways to attract users. This is one of them. They always innovate to attract the money, deposits.

Once the money is inside, it's less likely that it's only used for that single commission-free match or handful of commission-free matches before fully withdrawn right away. That's actually new to me because I really thought they didn't have any effect, even if they put a house edge on sports. It's the manipulation of the odds that they need to do. That's what I thought. They need to make gamblers believe that one team or player will win, but it's usually a trap. The movement in the odds is probably to equalize bets on the favorites and the underdogs, although I don't know how they do it for other options.

It’s definitely a new promo. I never heard a promo like this since sportsbook usually heavily rely on house to profit. Having zero house edge will open for an arbitrage betting abuse all their odds will surely above the average odds of the sportsbook since house edge is typically high on sports betting.

I haven't seen these promotions before either and what came to my mind just after reading the OP was the issue you are talking about: it must be a promotion limited to a small number of bets or a very limited time.

Could you share with us specific examples of the terms in which this type of promotion consists? From the bettor's point of view, they seem very convenient but they must have some kind of trick or at least very clear limits.

What I experienced in the past with Sportsbet.io is probably the same zero edge you are talking about, but they call it a price boost, for example if the odds are 1.90, they give a 10% boost so I will get 2.00, and that means I will no longer be paying for the juice if I win.

But that is just for one bet per day, not sure if it is the same with what you are referring to, but please if you can show some example or elaborate more, I would appreciate it.

This is nothing new, and you've perfectly described the reasons why casinos and bookmakers do this. I can only add that, if you take into account the costs of advertising and player acquisition, at some point you could say that bookmakers offer conditions that are unfavorable for themselves (loss - making) and favorable for players. Naturally, they are counting on the fact that in the end, the players' losses will cover all the costs, and judging by the fact that everything works as it is, this calculation is correct.

It's more like first one is free advertising, to get people to use new platforms.

Casinos who use this kind of "loss leader" tactic take a calculated risk that they are not making money, but gaining users. If those users stay or not when campaign is over is insignificant, as they now have data of increasing gambling and rising amount of active users. That data makes all the difference when you present it to shareholders or when you are looking for investors.

That it is a new tool I assure you it is not, that they are offering it more often than was done before this is true.
Simply marketing, nothing worrying and nothing useful, bonuses always have something to hide, you want to withdraw when you used the bonus or as in this case the share.
Bonuses usually help you deposit and play, but if you happen to win using a bonus, you'll then have a withdrawal limit, which isn't the case if you play with your own money without the help of bonuses.
