Ok, this is supposed to be "easy", but I'm officially going crazy about it.

I'm trying to make my first swap on a Trezor Safe 5. I have a  balance in USDT, and trying to swap it for BTC.
Now, the wallet keeps telling me I have "Insufficient SOL to cover the transaction fee."

Easy enough, I thought: I have "0" Solana. So I thought I should swap some USDT for SOL, so I can have a balance to  cover the fee. Right?
But the wallet keeps giving me that same stupid message, no matter what I do.

So, what should I do? Do I have to buy some SOL and transfer it to the wallet, so I can make the swap, or is there another solution?

Thank you all in advance.  Smiley

To the mods:  if I posted this topic in the wrong board I apologize. I know there's a "wallets" board somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Huh

The USDT is on Solana blockchain. That is the reason you are seeing the message.

You have to send solana to your solana address generated on Trezor, which can be used as the fee. You want to swap USDT, but USDT is a token on different blockchains. You have to use the native coin of the blockchain the USDT is as fee and in this case, it is solana.

Thank you Charles-Tim. I just did that with some BTC I had, and I was trying to delet the topic I just started, but I get the message "you can't delete your own messages on this board."

So,clearly, today is not my day. Tongue
Thank you anyway. It's nice to know it's gonna work.

Why do you use direct swap from the wallet?
For this feature, Trezor uses a third-party service like Changenow, for which there are negative feedbacks. rather go directly to some proven instant exchange and do swap regularly
