Toncoin is rebranding to Gram

Toncoin (TON), the native currency of the TON blockchain, is being renamed Gram. The change restores the name first used for the token in the project's original white paper. The transition is expected to take about three weeks.

TON will keep its name as the blockchain, while Gram will become the label for the asset used across the network. The project framed the change as a return to its roots and a step toward its next phase.      

The Gram name has deep history in the ecosystem. Telegram built the Telegram Open Network and had planned to issue a token called Gram, but that effort was met with regulatory resistance in the United States.

In 2020, Telegram settled with the SEC. It agreed to return more than $1.2 billion to investors and pay an $18.5 million civil penalty over the unregistered Gram offering. Telegram then stepped back, and the project continued through community-led development as The Open Network, with its token widely known as Toncoin.    

Reviving Gram may help separate the blockchain's identity from its currency. Under the new structure, TON stays the network and Gram becomes the asset.

Ton trading is currently unavailable for now on Kucoin since June 14th, but Binance would halt it's trading on the 30th of June.

I want to know if they have stop people from making withdrawal from the blockchain where by you would want to withdraw USDT-TON and such person is permitted to make withdrawal?

For now I can only confirm that the trading pair is available on Binance. I couldn't see it on Bybit as well as Kucoin, so it's unavailable in those exchanges. The transition would take 3 weeks, so hopefully by 2nd of July, all Toncoin would be renamed Gram and trading would be available again as Gram/USDT instead of TON/USDT.

I saw this over the news but was surprised these exchanges were very fast to implement it without giving clients opportunity to trade their funds away from Toncoin before suspending trading. In this scenario, Binance stood out as the exchange that prioritizes their clients and at this point I'm not surprised any longer they've such client base. Kucoin was very fast to halt trading on the 14th, giving their clients no breathing space and possibly going to be trapping their funds for 3 weeks. They're very bad at decision making regarding clients welfare.

My brother, you see that kucoin of an exchange, na just small thing remain for them to carry gun rob their customers because na criminals them be. If you still dey use that exchange na because say them never do you strong thing before, because if them don do you strong thing just once, you no go ever use that exchange again for your life.
Apart from binance, na bybit I dy use because na another exchange wey care about their customers welfare,  because apart from their p2p services wey thieves and scammers full, na very sweet exchange to use. This action of kucoin show say them no care about anybody, so na people wey still dy use that exchange I just dy pity because once their rubbish touch you, no body go tell you say find another exchange use.

Apart from my Electrum Wallet wey be my major holding, na for Binanace I dey leave small coins wey I go either use gamble, send to bitget for p2p or some other transactions. Most of these newer exchanges dey find way to thief clients funds. Kucoin na the worst, I remember when I still never understand exchange wella, I use Kucoin collect one review funds, e come be say dem get minimum deposit for dem segwit address and na so I take loose my $10 dat time wey I just new for here. Na dat day I swear say I no go use dem again and OKX wey dey charge big transaction fee to move funds from dia own wallet to de exchange, while all of dem still dey within one app. Binance dey try honestly, dem dey always give their clients time to withdraw dia assets, even if dem wan delist a trading pair. Kucoin don rush halt dem Ton/USDT trading so dat people no go fit withdraw funds within this period, make dem trap people funds use am dey do business. These nonsense dey make dem looses clients because if you don't person bad thing, na bad testimony e be for you and people good deal avoid you services.

I used Kucoin for years, I didn't have issues with them but because it didn't happen to me doesn't mean you aren't saying the truth. However, I prefer Kucoin over exchanges like Gate.io, Bitget and even Bybit, when Binance ended P2P, the majority of traders switched to Kucoin before P2P was shut down too, Bybit being the most populated with crypto P2P currently, and far the safest to use.

Kucoin is a good exchange, may not be the best but it is certainly better than majority, big exchanges like Kucoin do make sure to respond to complains and if you're talking about P2P robbery, it is not from them, Bybit has more scammers.

TON unlocked the power of Telegram but a lot of things went wrong on the process that damaged the reputation of that wonderful app. I think this idea is just to create another hype probably as the hype around Toncoin seem to be fading as a result of the too many scam projects launched in the blockchain. Why did they change from Gram to TON in the first place? Well, those who are fan of altcoins will pay more attention to this and not those that are more into Bitcoin. These coins are most good  for short term hold and not long term to avoid incurring losses.
