I believe the OP already knows the reason why he’s feeling that way, since he already stated that he only feels that way when he makes a heavy bet. So the question was literally whether he was the only one who feels that way or it’s a normal feeling for every other person who finds themselves in such a situation.

And to answer the question, anyone who’s in such a state would most likely feel the same way, except of course they’ve already gotten used to being in such a state and they no longer have to feel like that anymore.

I think that if such anxiety arises during a bet, it means you have doubts about the bet, right? And I think that if I had doubts about the bet, I wouldn't have placed a large sum.

I agree, a racing heart is more often when the stake is high and the person is not willing to afford the loss. Even if someone is sure about his prediction, there is always a degree of uncertainty to gambling and if one loses a lot of money then it always leads to tension and excitement. But people don't always back off from making large investments when they are uncertain, as there's a reason why it is sometimes better to take chances, make a bet, and take a risk for greater rewards. I think maybe I was a lot more emotional about betting when I was younger because I used to take more risks. These days I bet with lower stakes because I just want to enjoy the experience, not have to panic when watching sport

I agree with you that if the purpose of gambling is to get entertainment, then if it is not entertainment but physical illness that causes mental instability. Then I think he is not gambling for the purpose of entertainment and when someone bets with such money that if he loses, it will be difficult for him to live a normal life and fulfill his family responsibilities. He starts worrying a lot after betting and because of this, a condition like increased heartbeat is created. I experience this too even though I'm only betting a 'not-so-huge' amount but the main reason on why, is because I'm so down or close to busting out. Add in that the money I used is not my personal money but it was from my wife and then this money is also supposed to be paid on a loan or on a product that she ordered.

It is my fault I know but it is just that I continue because I know that the thrill on this is also extra-ordinary. Same goes with the joy when I win. It was like, I earn money out of thin air. No it doesn't happen to just you, it happens to every other gamblers like you you stakes very high amount of money that they cannot afford to lose. Have some pity on your heart and mental health,  you already know why your heart races whenever you gamble, fix the reason for that so you do not end up with health complications in the future. Prioritise your health more than anything else. Gambling even though is intended for money making should not also be pursued with all amount of seriousness, a little bit of fun motives will help ease the tension that comes with gambling.
