Why is Nigeria government like this? Why are they making it free? Or they can have both paid and free, but the paid one should compete with the DSTV and GOTV.

Some people said it is not free, that the money is taking from our taxes that we are paying, but I do not buy this idea at all. Free and paid TVs will be better.

If there is paid option, I can go for it and see if it is better than DSTV and GOTV. Many Nigerians will be ready to leave this xenophobic DSTV and GOTV alone with their xenophobic president and government.

But wait oh, why is everythings in Nigeria normally upside down, nothing is autually working  the way it surpose to work. What is free TV or free whatsoever got to do at the very state of our economy were people have no good job they can call their own, insecurity everywhere, people barely afford to eat what they want because of the high cost of things in the market, someone can no longer sleep with his two eyes close because of the fear of being attack by bandits or boko Haram, we can no longer travel a short journey without the fear of being kidnap and all our so call government have to do concerning all of the these that is going on in or conuntry is to give us free so called TV. Me no wan even argue about wether e dey free or not, my own be say, where the light wey we wan use watch the free TV, for my street wey I dey stay, our light get problem, PHED never even care to look into am for last five months, omo, this our government like to promote things wey no dey relevant. If some people don tell you e no dey free, my brother you better believe those people wey tell you so, nothing be free thing for this our obodo naija, you see the wey emilokon like tax, na there him go collect back the money.

Making it free is not the issue, the Major issue is that it's not going to be close to the standard of the likes of gotv and DStv and at the end, most households won't still make use of it.

Till now, NTA is one of the worse channel ever with Thier Camara as bad as itel Camara. They've not thought to upgrade it to look like channels television and they ads coming up with something that looks like a means of chasing clout. For me, I'm not carried away with it being free. Quality and the kind of channels that's available for such package will determine if buying it is worth it. I will always be in support of any idea that takes our dependence on south Africa to a zero level. If we can do away with their decorder and network, we've gained an high level of ability to speak when they are speaking.

Nah commendable development be this because if nah actually free, e go help turn the dependency wey Nigerians get on DStv and GOtv but as a proper naija person I be, I no sure say this nah the main problem dem suppose dey solve because we get more pressing issues and naija wey I know no go fit give it's citizens anything for free so what's the assurance say no be more debt them dey come put for the citizens head? I agree, if the government brings anything free just no that the quality will make you hate it, so actually nobody even need any free TV from them, there areas other rising matters we need them not TV because is only someone whose mind is calm or has been very comfortable would be thinking of how to watch TV. You funny o broski but you are saying the truth. Where the light they as them wan provide us with free to air. The funny thing about this country be say after 6 decades of gaining independence from our colonial masters, our quality of livelihood and standard of living has only been declining and deteriorated. We’ve never enjoyed any standard basic amenities since we started and have remained in the shackles of our leaders suffering from one failure to the other while they kept enjoying the dividend of the fraudulent policies and government. That's exactly the problem. It makes little sense to focus on providing free TVs when many citizens are still struggling with basic necessities like stable electricity. A television is only useful when there is power to run it. It is like solving a minor problem while ignoring a much bigger one.

People expect the government to prioritize critical issues such as electricity, security, healthcare, and job creation before spending resources on things that may have little practical impact on daily life. When leaders focus on less urgent matters while major challenges remain unresolved, it's understandable why many citizens feel frustrated and disappointed.

I am just hearing about this for the first, but if it's true I think it's a good one. I wonder why OP is not happy about it, the government is giving you something for free and you want a paid one, I really don't understand why.  My only is concern is if it's at the level of DSVT or GOTV, if it's at the same level, then we have to praise the government for this one. I am not a big fan of this government and I can boldly say that I am on of their biggest critic, but I think we also have to praise them if they did something right. If this free TV is not at the level of DSTV or GOTV, I would not mind if the government can give us one if the same standard and we will gladly pay for it and send DSTV and GOTV back to South Africa.
