I determine when to stop through my account balance and not by how many bets I have lost. It's not about the number of quantity of losses but everything depends if you can financially support your gambling habits without sacrificing your real-life obligations.

Before you start gambling you need to set a budget. This preparation will protect you from excessive losses. Your goal should be to stick to your bankroll or adopt a spending cut policy outside of the set budget. Most gamblers gamble but they don't know when to stop. This is one of the reasons for their losses. Just as FOMO is the main reason for a trader's losses, the main reason for a gambler's losses in gambling is not being able to stop gambling at the right time.

Just like how we have a stop loss while trading stocks/crypto, we should have a similar stop loss while gambling too.
How much one needs to keep the limit depends on the individual and his risk taking capability.
For some it could be 10x their bet size, for some it could be 25% of their bank roll for the week etc...
It can be different for everyone, for me it is 25% of my monthly gambling budget.
Once I hit this number in a single session, I tend to stop for a couple of days.

We as gamblers have to agree that we have two side is either you are gambling for fun or gambling to chase the profits, for example we have some people that we have some gamblers who sees the current FIFA world cup as a good business ground to make money from betting on those games.
