ℹ Note about antivirus warnings on Gaelium desktop wallets:

The official Gaelium desktop wallets (Windows/Linux/macOS) are not signed with a commercial code signing certificate. This is common for open-source community-driven projects, as commercial code signing certificates are expensive and typically not prioritized at early stages. As a result, Windows Defender or other antivirus software may flag them as "potentially unwanted" or "unrecognized publisher". This is a false positive and does not mean the wallet is malicious.

However, this only applies if you download the wallet from the OFFICIAL sources listed above (gaelium.io/#downloads or github.com/gaeliumcore). Never install any Gaelium wallet from a third-party link, a random GitHub repository, a Discord DM, or any other unverified source. If in doubt, verify the file hash against the checksums published on gaelium.io.

All official Team communications on Bitcointalk are signed "The Gaelium Team" and posted from the official ANN thread linked above.

Upon checking the archived version of the OP, it seems to be pointing to the correct repository.
What I can agree on is VT's virus detection isn't really reliable since almost all crypto miners and wallets will have some sort of false positives unless the specific AV brand whitelist it.
However, I'm not vouching for it and not willing to test.

What I'm saying is, OP is most likely felt pressured to remove it and to include a warning due to the linked report.

Your point on antivirus false positives is spot on: this affects virtually all open-source cryptocurrency wallets and miners, because they trigger heuristic detection patterns (they handle cryptographic keys or perform intensive computations that look similar to malware behavior). This is not specific to Gaelium at all, and it's a well-known issue across the ecosystem.

To clarify a few specific points about this thread:

On the wallet link: The Gaelium Team has never posted any "github.com/del" link. Our only official GitHub organization has always been github.com/gaeliumcore. If the archived version of the OP was showing a different GitHub URL, it wasn't posted by the Team, and the current crossed-out placeholder in the OP is definitely not ours.

On the Discord invite: The link "discord.gg/gqKfSdhghD" was never posted or endorsed by the Team. It may be an outdated invite from an early stage of the project that no longer works, or it may have been added by the OP based on information found elsewhere. The current and only official Discord invite is discord.com/invite/FWYEwnwu3p.

On the "virus warning": The Team is not aware of any legitimate virus report against the actual official Gaelium wallets downloaded from official sources. Anyone can verify file integrity against the SHA-256 hashes that are (or will be) published on gaelium.io. If the OP was pressured into linking that warning due to a report on a non-official binary, that would be a separate issue from the actual official project.

Regardless of how this thread came to be, the goal of the previous post was simply to make sure any newcomers reading it have access to the correct official sources.

I've added your links to the first post.

After being accused of distributing viruses, I was forced to remove the links, but I've fixed everything now. In this forum thread, we mainly discuss mining.

Why did you choose the KawPoW algorithm for mining? It's one of the hottest algorithms and consumes a lot of electricity.

Hey FP91G, sorry for the late reply, I don't check this thread very often :-)

Good question. Honestly, KawPoW is heavy on power, no denying that. But this is our first real project that actually made it to the finish line, and we spent weeks testing different algorithms before settling. Ravencoin's KawPoW gave us the best results in the end, stable, ASIC-resistant, and mineable on regular GPUs.

Another reason was accessibility: KawPoW still runs fine on older cards, right now 2GB of VRAM is plenty. That was intentional, we wanted a proven, stable algo that lets people mine on hardware they already have, even older GPUs, so we could bring in as many miners as possible rather than shutting anyone out.

So consider it a starting point. It works well and keeps mining open to the whole community, which was the whole idea
