Trading for a long duration and making profits for a long duration consistently or near consistently are different things. People will make a lot of assumptions about trading and often they will lose more than they make. So you have to assume anybody speaking about their profits with a bag of salt.

Most of them are involved with websites to gain affiliate downlines and supply a continuous chain of bamboozled newbies to waste their money on that site while the referree gets a 10% cut.

End of the day the exchange and referee (who is hailed as some god in social media) - get rich while the common users get their pockets emptied.

It really does not mean at all that if they are trading for long time those people are repping consistent profits from this activity. What I usually encounter is most of people lose on their trade and we need to be cautious with those people claiming that they are earning passive income on trading.

Since there are lots of fake guru's trying to lure newbies and will just try to push their affiliate links or scam them by asking payments on their fake signals.

So yeah those people will get rich if more people would try to avail their fake services, while those newbie traders usually carries the risk and will eventually lose for executing their inconsistent strategy also their misleading calls.

Timing in trading success is something that is controversial because by just spending years trading doesn't automatically make a trader successful or profiting consistently.

Someone may spend 3 year trading and still keep blowing up their accounts, while another person's can spend just 1 year and master their decipline, strategy and patient which are the tools to make you a profitable trader.

Somehow I agree with you, but somewhat no because discipline is key, patience, strategies. But if you are a trader, you know that sometimes all of this means nothing you lose your money after giving everything. So just saying discipline, patience and strategies will guarantee money NO those are just qualities of a good trader, and in this space even experienced traders lose money as well. If someone is losing money after 3 years, do you think he just lacks these qualities? Just think about it man. And if someone is making a good profit after 1 year it doesn't mean he is in profit because he has those qualities. These qualities are like x, y, z in math equations, but to get the answer you have to solve it by yourself.

These days there are many fakes news circulating in the market regarding money earned by traders in crypto market. Its generally true that majority of traders lose their money, while only a handful traders earn good profit from trading. The army of traders on social media are busy giving false info to their viewers in order to increase there views and also to lure others to follow their paid signalling groups. If you want to start trading then you have to remain vigilant from that fake info spread in the crypto market regarding trading and do proper analysis of trading prior to starting it.

Oh yes, trading pays very well but when one is not getting it right or not recording huge winnings, it doesn't mean trading doesn't pay, it means you're not on the right path and not doing the right things to make trading profitable for you.
Some traders still insist that trading is not really profitable, they don’t always admit that the fault is from them, they always claim they are doing things well, but they are not just making money from trading. Most of the people that are not really making money from trading are having something which they are not doing right.

As a trader, you going to be losing, you can’t be a trader and you won’t be losing, that’s not possible, but you just have to make sure your profit is more than you loss, that’s what makes you to be a good trader. If you are trading and you are losing always, then you have something you are not doing right which is the reason why you are losing.

I know of some people that takes trading so serious and they are making money from trading, but this people trade responsibly, they know when to stop trading, they know when they are suppose to reduce the amount they trading with, and other necessary things.

I have said it before that any trader that is doing well in trading will not have time to be influencing or trying to make other traders become a perfect traders through selling of pdfs. There are actually traders that gives free trading tips, guides, videos and books for trading for free but the soonest you see them giving paid course, then know that you are the means of their profit, they are not profitable traders like they claimed to be, they might have never made money before from trading.

There are caliber of this people, they are many on X and Instagram and Tiktok sharing tip. I want to become a professional trader one day but I don't want to be online giving people tips on how to trade and be asking them for for money. It doesn't make any sense and people that are trying to learn are not helping either. Why are you going to believe someone that has nothing to show as a trader want to teach you trading, it doesn't make sense.

I believe he didn't say anything wrong. Discipline, patience, and proper knowledge, which includes strategies, reading and understanding charts and candlestick patterns, understanding of different market conditions and potential eventual outcomes, etc. These are the main things a trader needs to stay consistent, and staying consistent doesn't mean incurring no losses at all, but it means making more profits than the losses in the overall journey. So, if someone who has spent 3 years but is still losing, it simply means they lack something, because if they were doing everything properly, they wouldn't be facing losses still. And, if someone is able to stay profitable within a year, it means they are following everything properly.

The argument that even experts or experienced traders lose money doesn't make any sense when we are not talking about the overall outcome of their journey. If someone has been trading for a decade but still has a negative net outcome from their journey, you can't call them an expert, because if they were an expert, they wouldn't have such results. However, if they are in profit, but just lose some money sometimes, then that's totally fine, because it is not possible for anyone to have 100% accuracy.

First of all, trading for a long period of time doesn't really automatically make you a good trader, the most important thing is having accurate and concise knowledge and also knowing how to apply it. There's no linear path when it comes to trading because no matter how experienced you might become it still doesn't make you immune to losses.

It is true that trading take repeated failures to become successful at it but this doesn't apply to everyone, if you have been trading for five years and the following year after that you start making improvement it doesn't mean that you are not going to blow your account again just because you stopped losing for a while.

What makes you a good trader is how much you are able to minimize your losses, in the long run this is what is needed because losses would always come but how you manage your risks is what makes you a skillful trader.

There are some traders who are more concerned about their profits at the beginning of trading. They increase their focus on profits without receiving adequate education, which increases their losses. Again, for the success of some traders, only good market research, speculation and self-confidence are not enough. A trader can do well in a single trade and even do it consistently. But this does not mean that he will always be profitable in trading. Many traders can lose their wealth even after trading for a long time. Because experience is not necessary, risk management must also be monitored well and decisions must be taken.

There are some traders who try to trade by relying on others instead of relying on themselves. They try to trade by joining signal groups. Which later causes losses. There are some who start trading after seeing social media advertisements. But they forget the false information that is on social media.

Some start trading by trusting others due to lack of knowledge, but they also face losses later. In order to do well in trading, it is important to acquire the ability to analyze on your own. However, it should be remembered that trading is not a profit scheme. Everyone who comes here starts as a knowledgeable person, so those who are new should definitely start trading by getting proper education in this area.

Look, no matter how much time a person spends in trading, it does not matter if he does not gain knowledge about the important things of trading. Many people may have more than one year of experience in trading, but if he cannot figure out what is going wrong while trading, then he will not be able to achieve success. I have seen many experienced traders who have failed despite having experience only because of greed. Again, there are many traders who have less experience but have the ability to control emotions and greed, they have become successful in trading within a short time, if not for a long time. So success does not mainly depend on the age of the trader, but on self-control and some important qualities.

So success does not mainly depend on the age of the trader, but on self-control and some important qualities.

And since most traders are confused and lack a goal, it is worst when you don't even know what you are doing. The number of years you trade doesn't really matter because you will still lose money. However, the good news is that if you trade consistently, you will gain more experience because that is how the whole thing is working out because experience is the best teacher, so people need to understand that the more you trade, the more you learn.

And for those who have been trading for a while, I believe that one of their biggest issues will be that they are constantly greedy. As a trader, you have to find a way to control that because that is the only way it can be controlled when you actually stick to yourself. When you want to overdo things, that is when most people lose money because they are choosing greed over anything, and if you want to enjoy trading, you have to trade with what you know you can afford to lose.

In some previous threads, good questions have been raised such as "why are people still trading when they are not making money? " Then some members here would say, "quite trading if you are not profitable"
It has always been a thought I kept in my heard for some time now but I chose to create this thread after I came across videos by soms.self acclaimed successful and profitable traders who would say "they have been trading for more than 4 years and that they finally became successful after 2-3 years of failing and bursting of account."

So, some of these social media self acclaimed successful traders are saying that they were persistently trading for more than 2 years and were unprofitable but later on, maybe on the 4th or 5th year, they now started being profitable till date. What is your opinion about such speech from those traders, do you believe is true or they are just lying?

As a trader, what is your take on this question,  how long is it supposed to take for someone to become profitable and successful in trading? People should know about this, so that after they have tried for such period of time and are not successful, they can quit.

If you are a successful trader here, how long did it took you to become successful and what are the things you did differently now that made you profitable?
The success of a trader per year isn't measured in a haste and as long as you're doing the right and styling consistently and seeing results even if it's slow, I wouldn't advise you to stop but rather continue learning and bettering yourself and when it comes to trading, never stop learning and applying the right risk management approach and for a trader who continually makes series of repeated losses without going back to redress their footsteps shouldn't continue with trading but if a trader is making losses and same as profits, I think they shouldn't be in a haste to quiet but find better ways to improve and I don't think there should be a period of time to make once success wether to quiet or not.

No one knows it whether they are lying or they are telling the truth. It is quite difficult to determine whether people say the truth or not in the social media. Moreover if they don't show anything as the proof or evidence. However, I personally a bit doubt that people can keep trading for 2-3 years if they only get losses.  Undecided

As a trader, what is your take on this question,  how long is it supposed to take for someone to become profitable and successful in trading? People should know about this, so that after they have tried for such period of time and are not successful, they can quit.
The success can't be determined by a certain time period in trading. Some people can be successful faster, other people finally can succeed after a long time period. This must depend on the capability (knowledge, skills) of each trader, it is probably different among traders.

If you are a successful trader here, how long did it took you to become successful and what are the things you did differently now that made you profitable?
I'm not sure whether I'm a successful trader or not.  Grin
I've been trading for years, but I don't always trader regularly. I only trade whenever I've enough time to trade.
I think I'm not a really active trader.

The number of years spent in trading doesn't really determine how successful you would be in it,  it all depends on strategy, luck and other things. Some persons can spend some number of years trading but will have nothing valuable form it, while some people will just start it in a period of few months, and begin to  get money in trading. I don't know whether I will call this luck, but I will say luck has a little effect on it too.
It is always very good to have experience in trading, but I don't believe experience is enough to  guarantee you success in trading. Traders who have stayed long in the business knows what I'm talking about, that the whole thing doesn't not depend solely on experience, strategy, luck and experience is all it takes to win in trading.

The success of trading does not depend on the length of time but depends a lot on the thinking and strategy of a trader. There are many traders who become serious before analyzing the market, thinking that they can become rich in a very short time by trading. These traders cannot achieve success even after being there for a long time. Again, there are many traders who have very little experience in trading, but you will see that they can profit from trading at a young age only because of their strategic skills. Then you cannot determine how many days you will achieve success in trading because in this case it depends on your market skills, coin selection and when to train or when to stop trading. So the time for one person to succeed is two to three years, while the time for some to succeed is even less.

The success of trading does not depend on the length of time but depends a lot on the thinking and strategy of a trader.
Agree. The success can't be determined by how long we trade. It depends on our ability in trading. It means it is about skills, knowledge, and our mentality. If we have lack of knowlege/skills, we can't choose the right strategy. And we won't survive in trading if we have weak mentality.

There are many traders who become serious before analyzing the market, thinking that they can become rich in a very short time by trading. These traders cannot achieve success even after being there for a long time.
Sure, it is a wrong mindset to be rich instantly in trading. If there is no change in their mindset and no improvement in their ability, surely they won't be successful although they spend a lot of time in trading.

Again, there are many traders who have very little experience in trading, but you will see that they can profit from trading at a young age only because of their strategic skills.
People can learn from the experience of other people. So, it is no problem that someone have lack of experience. But it is impossible to succeed if someone has lack of knowledge. Well, anyone can succeed whether young or old people.

So the time for one person to succeed is two to three years, while the time for some to succeed is even less.
I am not sure what you mean. But there is no an exact time for the success of a trader.

The number of years that you have been trading does not really determine if you are a good trader or not, some people spend years of trading doing the wrong thing, either they don't follow risk management or they get too emotional when trading. The reason why a lot of people still trade even though they are not seeing positive results is because they are just trying to be consistent. While being patient and consistent is important it is also going to be of no use if your strategies are not putting you in profit in the long run.

It is true that many people do not succeed after trading for 4-5 years, mainly because they lack strategy and experience. Those who do not follow the risk management of trading and cannot control their emotions do not profit successfully by trading without skills. There are many people who continue trading despite not getting positive results, thinking that maybe they will face a lot of profit at some point in their luck. But those who think like this are completely wrong because trading is a place of strategy and experience, nothing happens with luck alone. If you do not succeed after trading for a few years, then you must change your strategy, increase your experience, analyze the market, and if you start trading later, there is a possibility of success.

I agree with your sentiment here about timing because everyone are not wired the same way. Some people are smarter, faster and more agile than the other, so if someone has been trading for a long time, that doesn't mean that he is going to be profitable or he is not going to blow up his account. Am not going to argue with the fact that experience helps a trader to an extent, but if the trader has failed on countless occasions to learn from his mistakes, even though he has spent 10 years trading, he will not be profitable and may still be blowing account because he is not making use of all the knowledge experience has unveil to him.
